Booked hotel over the internet. Spent 4 nights there on my own, single Can. woman, enroute to East Africa. Great location, close to the street market and lots of restaurants and pubs. Great access to trolleys/tram. You can be in the centre of the city within 10 minutes, 5 minute walk to the Amsterdam Experience. Price of room includes a...

I stayed in a single bedroom at the 2nd floor. Good things were: Friendly staff, fair prices, it's in the middle of a neighbourhood were all the locals live so you get a good impression of living in Amsterdam. Nearby is a small but nice park called Sarphatipark. In the media it's described sometimes as an gay(meetings)park. I ddn't notice...

I needed a last minute and inexpensive spot in Amsterdam ---- and the Hotel Albert filled the bill perfectly. True, there's nothing fancy happening here, but the room was simple and clean, the sheets comfy, and the neighborhood was great. Consider breakfast to be just a bit of fuel to get you on your way and you'll be happy. And...

Staying in De Pijp

Neighbourhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
