The Times Hotel is very well located for all the central Amsterdam attractions.

The rooms are quite variable and I would always suggest to pay the difference to take a standard room at least. The building is typically Amsterdam with tight corridors and some rooms are shaped in a quirky manner.

The service is efficient but minimalist.

The Luxury Canal View Room is the most expensive room in the hotel but can also be good value for four people. It is spectacular and highly recommended.

All in all what you would expect in a hotel at the center of a big European city but clean, efficient and good value for the most part.

I will always stay here when traveling to Amsterdam, given the option.

The Times Hotel is really well located being just out of the centre of Amsterdam but also a really nice walking distance. The hotel is located right on a canal, blink and you will miss it! The room was 2 floors with an ensuite and views looking onto the canal.

The downside to this hotel is that there never seemed to be staff at the front desk we stayed for 3 days and staff was there when we arrived and when we left but we didn't see a single member of staff any other time and no one came when we hit the bell. Meaning that we couldn't book barge tours, but because there are so many great barge tours in Amsterdam we didn't miss out.

Don't come to this hotel if you want a great hotel service.

Stayed with a friend for 3 nights and we were very happy with this hotel. Everything we wanted to see and visit was no more than at most a 30 minute walk away which was perfect for us. Close to central station and the Ann frank house is less than 10 minutes away. The reception area and our room were spotless. Our room was very small and looked directly on to a wall but this didn’t bother us much as we weren’t spending much time in the room. The stairs are very steep and narrow but this is to be expected in these buildings and is very quirky. Lovely hotel in a great location and all staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place!

Absolutely disgusting behavior from the Times Hotel Amsterdam managing staff. We booked directly with the hotel because we’d rather pay and help businesses and not them paying fees to websites like Booking. We could have paid a little bit less through these internet platforms. Lesson learned.
It was non-refundable nights at the Times Hotel Amsterdam and we definitely wanted to go. Yes it was non-refundable BUT this is the Dutch government who decided about the lockdown and to shut down everything until mid-January 2022 the earliest. So going with 3 kids is not an option. What do you do the whole day in the hotel (you can’t stay in the lobby) or in the city with ZERO places to go or any activities ? We asked to be reimbursed or a voucher for a next trip. We would have loved to go another time but the hotel management did not care and just said “no, it’s our policy” without even considering their customers and the fact that it was due to the Dutch government decision, not ours. We tried to talk but they could not care less. Really disgusting and a place to avoid in the future.

Room was neat and clean. We had a wonderful canal view. The windows did an excellent task of keeping the room quiet from any outside noises. Bathroom had a wonderful shower. Well situated from train and tram stations, as well as restaurants and shopping areas.

The location is obviously great as you’re within walking distance to pretty much everything. The staff were friendly.

But I would say the hotel in general is average at best. I personally wouldn’t pay £275 a night again to stay there as the facilities were really quite limited/nothing special.

I paid a bit more for a canal view but over the weekend, this really isn’t worth it as the streets were so noisy up until at least 1am, particularly as there’s a “coffee shop” right next door. In general, the walls are quite thin so you might also hear noise from other guests coming in/out the hotel too.

Some other things - the “clean” sheets had a stain, the tea/coffee in the room was so basic (considering the price of the room), the fridge was dirty inside too.

I love the staff here. They are so helpful. It started with me asking them to make a dinner reservation because I couldn't get the restaurant to answer the phone.

I had the opportunity to stay here in 3 different rooms while in Amsterdam. The first room was two twins pushed together but it still worked out ok. Room was small, shower was small (but recently renovated.) They have an elevator but it was 6 stairs down, 3 stairs up and 3 more stairs up.

Next time I got room 474 because I requested a tub. Nice soaking tub. You did have to walk down 3 stairs in the room to the bathroom. Not as many stairs getting to the room.

I then caught covid. They moved everything around so I could quarantine there including giving me 374 with a soaker tub but no stairs this time. Just 6 stairs down, 3 up and 3 more. The staff gave me an ap so I could order food in which was very helpful.

Refrigerators in room don't keep things particularly cold. Other guests aren't always considerate coming in at night, talking loudly and slamming doors.

Great toilietires including lotion and cream rinse.

I will come back here again.

The worst customer service we have ever experienced - they booked two rooms and charged our credit card and then tried to claim it was our fault refusing to check us in. They still owe us money for the booking and I have now had to contact the owner of the hotel to complain. It is not worth the price, the view over the canal is not the best in Amsterdam by any stretch; holes in our towels and crack in one of the mugs. Very basic breakfast with everyone squashed in to a small space which has not been thought through at all. You can do better in Amsterdam.

Canal front location is about the only thing positive to say about this hotel. Our "cozy canal" room was so small that it was difficult to get to the other side of the bed. Added to the fact that our room was on the 5th floor and the elevator only went up to the 4th. I am in my 70s and the spiral staircase to our room was narrow and steep. Carpet on steps and in hallways was worn and dingy. From desk staff was curt and seemed uninterested in helping guests. If you didn't pay extra for the continental style breakfast, a cup of coffee from the machine in the lobby was 2.5€ and a piece of fruit was 1.5€. All that for 340€ per night!

Beware of the hotel cancellation because THEY made a mistake. I booked the hotel for a very good rate and then one week before we were due to arrive the hotel said the price was incorrect and asked me to pay another 200 euros! When I refused they simply cancelled my booking. 100% their fault. Not even an apology.

All rooms at The Times Hotel are different in design. Some indeed have stairs in the room. Others are reachable only by stairs from reception due to the monumental state of the buildings (the hotel buildings are from 1650). Please check with our reception and inform us about any needs from the guests, so that we can try our best to pre-reserve a suitable room.
Answer from TheTimesHotelAms
All rooms at The Times Hotel have a safety box for your valuables.
