We stayed at Kapitein Anna last July for a few days during our visit to Amsterdam. Anthony was incredible in making our stay the best one and was willing to accommodate to our needs going beyond on every thing we needed. This place is very convenient since it is just a 10 minute ride from Amsterdam central on a ferry (which is free of charge), breakfast is excellent and the staff is really helpful. The ship is a treasure, it is well-kept, clean and the views from the decks are priceless. A nice way to get away from the noisy nights downtown.

Just had 1 night on 'Anna' and we were both impressed! But first, just a quick note how to get to her as not many people seem to have mentioned that! From the Central Station - best way is to come out at the back, assuming that the blasted ticket barrier will read and accept your blasted ticket (if not go out the front and it's right and 1st right again, under the bridge and you are there). It is dock 4 right by the bike park and you want the free ferry to NDSM: Anna is right by the big Botel ( it is not on the destination board)

Anyway - to continue. Anna is a lovely old boat that has been lovingly and expensively refurbished into a pretty good floating B&B by the owner. There is lovely polished wood everywhere and the rooms have been furnished nicely making use of a quite small space, and the bathroom has a 'proper' door which is very much a plus and the beds are quite comfy with a good pillow. The decor is well thought out and there is a TV. The one thing that really did creep me out was the thought that you are actually sleeping below the water line of the (very busy) river which is a bit odd...also passing boats and barges make quite big bow waves which rock things about a little bit whilst making rather disconcerting sploshing noises!!

However, the owner was very welcoming and friendly and we had quite an interesting conversation about Brexit - but enough of that!

Breakfast was a pleasure along with some very nice music and a good number of choices when it came to the food. You could also have eggs and bacon if you wanted at no extra cost. The shower is good and water as hot as you want, pretty much. There are a couple of mucky spots around the bottom corners of the door - but I am not grumbling about those as both of us really enjoyed our stay there.

Anna is about 2 minutes from the ferry stop but you have to wait about half an hour if you miss one - make sure you get on the right one if you are going back to the station! There is also a very nice eatery about 5 minutes walk away called Pllek which has great views over the water. A bit pricey but very good food.

So to sum up: if you don't mind sleeping with the fishes, it is well worth setting sail on the Kapitein Anna. Would definitely go back and certainly recommend.

It cost a fraction more than the boat next door but was an infinitely better experience. The room was small but more than compensated for by the lounge and top deck.

An old fashioned wooden pleasure cruiser and a delight to look out onto the Amstel from. If you can ask for room with a harbour view do so. But we improved the limited view by stepping out of our admittedly very snug room and enjoying the setting from the lovely communal areas.

Some great cafes locally as well. We skipped catching the ferry into town twice and didn’t regret it.

We found this just by chance, but what a find. The team Ton and Anna are fantastic, they can't do enough for you including good advice on the city. The cabin's are very comfortable and clean, showers are great. The boat it's self is beautiful and spotless. Parking is 150 yards from to boat and is 11 euros for 24 hours. The ferry from quay (2 minutes from the boat) is free and runs every 30 minutes, til midnight then about once an hour til 3am. Make sure you get on the right ferry coming back from the city, as there are 3 and the other 2 go to different places. We are already booked to go back in March.

A beautiful historic steamboat, I felt like Peter Ustinov in Death on the Nile. Of course without crime, instead with friendly and helpful staff. Stylish hall and restaurant. Cozy clean cabin, free coffee maker in bar. Good fresh breakfast. Free ferry (20 minutes) from the Central Station. I would definitely stay here again.

I would like the rooms to be larger, and you could open the window in them. Otherwise I was pleased with my stay at this hotel. Especially liked the interior, location, customer service, the opportunity to eat free fruits, to drink free coffee and tea. The hotel also has a fast, free Wi-Fi connection.

We stayed here for a few days and honestly couldn't fault anything. The ship is a wonderful step back in time but with thoroughly modern bedrooms. The staff were fantastic and you are only a short free ferry ride into the centre of Amsterdam. It was great to spend time in the city and then return to what felt like your own private yacht. We will definitely return.

We will arrive at Eindhoven airport, how can we reach the Kapitein Anna? Thank you, Francesco
Answer from Kapitein A
Hi Francesco, At Eindhoven Airport take the bus to central station of Eindhoven, there take the train to Amsterdam Central station. At Central station of Amsterdam follow the signs to the ferry's and than take the ferry boat to NDSM-werf.
