The hotel room, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. Firstly, its subterranean location was not clearly communicated in the Dutch-written advertisement, potentially causing confusion for guests. The room's limited space made it challenging to move around comfortably. Surprisingly, there were no proper pillows, only large sofa cushions, and despite requesting one, none was provided. Additionally, the absence of a headboard, coupled with the room's small window that required maintenance assistance to open, created a somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere. The passage leading to the room was not only narrow but also posed safety concerns, lacking a lift for accessibility. The room suffered from total darkness, lacking external light sources. Adding to the discomfort, there was no table or chair available. The bathroom lacked a door for the shower, resulting in water flooding the floor after each use. Further, the bathroom's top ceiling showed signs of corrosion, and the switchboard had lost its paint, highlighting maintenance issues. The mirror was inconveniently positioned too high, affecting practicality. The most disappointing aspect was the unhelpful attitude of the staff who checked me check-in. A lack of coordination between morning and evening staff members led to confusion regarding a simple request. Fortunately, another staff member intervened, deescalating the situation and providing the necessary assistance. Regrettably, this overall negative experience leaves me with the decision not to revisit this hotel in the future. I hope this feedback contributes to improvements for both the hotel and prospective guests.

Lovely 3 star hotel. Could easily be made a 4 star with some improvements. Great fireplace to keep toasty in reception, nice coffee and rooms clean and functional. Bed and pillows were very comfortable and the balcony was a nice touch. A small safe was provided for free which was great, but no kettle or tea and coffee or fridge available in the room. Staff were all very friendly and spoke good English. Hotel is 10-15 min walk from shops and restaurants and public transport just outside. Overall, good value for money and a very comfortable stay. We would stay again :)

This is a great hotel, easy to get to all the main attractions on foot or by tram. The breakfast was excellent - lots of variety and good value compared to local cafes. Our room on the top floor of the annexe was up very steep stairs which wouldn’t be suitable for everyone but the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was powerful and hot but it was not easy to keep the floor dry. The staff on reception were always friendly and helpful.

There was no air conditioning, on a very hot several days There was one small fan in the room. When we asked for a second fan, we got a short response, “There are no more fans”. The rooms are small and cramped with nowhere to put our luggage. We couldn’t sleep in the hot room. We had paid in advance, so we tried to get our money returned (for the succeeding nights), so we could find a different hotel. They flaky refused. Not exactly customer-friendly. I highly recommend that you do NOT patronize this hotel. They certainly don’t seem to care about their visitors.

Dear David, Thank you for your feedback. We are feeling sorry that we do not met your expectations. We do not advertise we provide air condition in the rooms and unfortunately we do not have any influence on the weather. With actual heatwave in Amsterdam, it can happend that we are not able provide extra fans in the room. As you have booked with the discounted non-refundable rate, there is no possible to amend your reservation without fee. That are the conditions of the discounted rate. With kind regards,

We stayed here for four nights in April 2023. We had a top corner room facing the rear of the building. The room was small, as is typical for many European hotels, with a full-sized bed, a wardrobe, two chairs, little side tables, and a ledge by the window. We were able to fit our large suitcase into the wardrobe, but it was a tight fit. We had a small private bathroom. It was clean and there was good water pressure, but the shower was open to the rest of the bathroom and water splashed all over the floor, making a bit of a mess after each shower. There was a large flat-screen TV placed on the wall. The wi-fi signal was excellent, even into the evening. Hotel facilities were good. The entrance contains a bar area with plenty of seats facing a nice view of the street. Hotel employees were always pleasant and helpful. Our room price included morning breakfast, consisting of a little “tower” containing items typical of a continental breakfast (e.g. pastries, dish of meat and cheese slices, hard-boiled eggs, yoghurt, condiments). The hotel has no restaurant, serving only some light snacks and desserts in the evening. Drawbacks included a tiny little elevator that didn’t go to the very top floor. Also, our room could have used a “refresh,” such a new coat of paint and a new “girl” decal (which was peeling). Location was excellent, right on Frederiksplein. A tram stops right on the plein, and there were many stores and restaurants within easy walking distance. Many attractions, such as the Rijksmuseum the Dam, were just a few tram stops away. At night the area was very quiet. I had no issues walking around at night, but, as usual, one must always be aware of their environment when out and about in the evening. Recommended as a nice mid-range hotel in a good location.

A lovely hotel with good value for the price. Differently sized rooms. Although my room was souterrain it was clean and comfortable with a small window. In lovely part of Amsterdam, close to Museums and a direct Tram to city centre. Very friendly staff.

Hotel was under some minor reconstruction, but was fine. Thought the breakfast was overpriced is my only major complaint. The hotel is a bit expensive, but hey its a good location in Amsterdam, right by de Pijp, walkable 8 minutes to Rijks, etc Comfy room, comfy bed, clean and decent bathroom, good wifi!

The problem is that if I knew they were not serving a traditional buffet or a la carte including warm food (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc.) I would never have reserved, since a huge breakfast choice is part of the accommodation experience. The breakfast description, especially since it is completely different from every other hotel worldwide, should be stated clearly on online reservation systems and websites. Finding out about the 'abnormal' breakfast once at reception or in the room becomes a compulsory choice: either having breakfast or having it outside.

Dear Pierbruno., Thank you for your stay and taking time to write a review. As already explained through the email and on Booking.com, the form of breakfast we served is available in your room, at the front desk and on all booking platforms, including our own website. Indeed, our breakfast presentation af "High Tea Breakfast" is totally different that other hotels. As you can see all over the booking platforms, our guest enjoy that type of breakfast. We are felling sorry that you do not enjoy it. Kindly reminder that you did not pre-booked breakfast but decide to take in on spot. The time you was at our Bar where the breakfast is served, our staff was busy preparing breakfast for our guest and are always there to answer your questions about the type of breakfast. We still hope you enjoy your stay in Amsterdam. With kind regards Lukasz Hotel V

Stayed here for one night with colleagues as our company office was nearby. We booked large double rooms which were perfect for what we needed; comfy bed, lots of pillows, great shower, toiletries etc. We were greated on arrival with a glass of champagne, friendly receptionist and really nice bar area. I stayed in room 214 looking out on the street and maybe because everyone cycles but it was very quiet. They even provide ear plugs for light sleepers. Breakfast was uniquely served as a sort of afternoon tea with a selection of fresh fruit, bread, pastries and granola with plenty of cheeses, meat and tomatoes. Plenty of coffee available and fresh orange juice and pleasant staff. All in all a great stay and will definitely return. They mentioned construction work but there was none that affected my stay or my colleagues who were on different floors.
