Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Fantastic location; not a super great hotel. We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel ML as part of our Christmas vacation in the Executive Suite. The hotel had lots of character, but it was more of the well-worn Bohemian type of character than stylish character. As an example, the living room of our Executive Suite was huge (which was great), but was furnished with an old couch and coffee table and little else in this big space. The restaurant was only open one of the nights we were there, and had no availability that night when we tried to book dinner there a few months in advance.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the ML. We had a large room which was meant to have air conditioning, which didn’t work. We asked at reception on our first morning, to be told it wasn’t working!! This meant it was very warm & we needed the window open. Sadly, our 2nd night was marred by noise from the square. It finally went quiet around 4am, so we didn’t get a lot of sleep. Our breakfasts were very good, with plenty of choice. A good stay would have been better if for that air con.

This was one of the greatest stays I've ever had in Haarlem. I have been here 3 times and this by far was the nicest and best experience I've had. The staff was great, having a good restaurant in the hotel was convient and other restaurants within easy walking distance. De Grote church 50 feet accross the street from it. . Very centrally located in the city I will happily stay there again.

Beautiful old hotel in the centre of Haarlem. Had a 2 night stay before travelling on to a family wedding in nearby Castricum. Fantastic very large semi-circular room on the first floor overlooking a square with lots going on. A little odd that the toilet was separate from the rest of the bathroom being at the other side of the room and bed but it worked fine. Good fresh served breakfast although slightly pricey. Only ate Breakfast here as loads of other choices very close by. Nice seating outside for drinks etc. Good staff although I noticed that the owners didn't acknowledge me when they walked passed me when I was I was having breakfast one morning, a quick good morning or smile would have been nice. Lovely old town to explore for a couple of days. Took an open boat trip which was good. Easy train service into Amsterdam etc. Would definitely stay again.

Everything was perfect! The location, the room and the service! Best place to stay if you want to enjoy Haarlem and the area, like Zandvoort, Bloemendaal and even Amsterdam. I had a party at ML and after drinks and fantastic food our stay was very nice. The breakfast was also very good with fresh fruit and bread.

A charming property right in the heart of Haarlem. It’s cozy and calming yet has an excellent bar and restaurant - and the staff are lovely. My room was extremely comfortable and well proportioned with a nice view across the central square. The shower was a little on the small side. I found it adequate so only mention in the interests of transparency. A delightful place to stay in what I found to be a most welcoming Dutch city. Highly recommended if your path is taking you in the direction of Haarlem.

+++ The location is great if you want to walk about the centre of Haarlem. (Not sure what happens if you come by car...) The Hotel has charm and the croissants were indeed flaky at a served (hooray) breakfast. Room was large; Staff cheerful Disliked · This hotel appears to lack adequate heating! It was perhaps 8 degrees outside when we arrived and the receptionist took us to the room (nice) and pointed out the large convector heater that she switched on. The room was freezing and took 24 hours to warm up, being on the top floor. Our floor remained unpleasantly cold throughout. We were never really warm and the duvets were thin. Cheap roman blinds on the windows were fiddly to operate and let in bright lights from the building opposite all night. Quite unacceptable at this level and price. We noticed other rooms also had convector heaters implying no central system. You have been warned! We ate the Grill rather than the main starred restaurant. Food was OK but staff spent their time chatting so it was very slow.

Absolutely top-notch. Our room was beautiful and much bigger than most European rooms. Staff could not have been any better. Only complaint was the room was a little chilly, but not a big deal since it was winter and that is to be expected.

Lovely, central hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Central location. Was worried it may be noisy in a corner suite but it wasn’t. Will definitely come again. Comfortable bed and lots of space. Black out curtains work well and very clean.
