Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel and its location is great for exploring Utrecht. Once a year on average we visit utrecht and always really enjoy to stay in this hotel. The ambiance is fair to say interesting and some of the rooms have high class furniture promoted to a worthwhile second life. I can recommend this hotel for its ambiance/value/comfort ratio.

We stayed here for one night. We had a warm welcome at the hotel. Our room (number 12) was on the ground floor. This room doesn't have a nice view of the beauiful street and the bathroom is very basic but the styling of the bedroom was really nice and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is good but not exstensive. The street and area are quiet at night which we prefer. After we came home from our night out we had drinks and crisps in the loby with friends who stayed in the hotel aswel and this was no problem.

Quiet, well appointed hotel with super helpful staff. Located within 15 minute walk from Centraal, Dom, University areas. Bikes for rent at front desk, and nearby dining, bars and general shopping. Housekeeping services were great, and breakfast was simple, fresh and very good. We were delighted with this facility which was indenified for us by family members who are Utrecht residents. Just a gem!

When you are talking about a 4-star boutique hotel, you already know that the services will not be the best ones, but you expect the rooms and the sorroundings to be great... Well, that 's not what you get in Malie Hotel! Despite the nice employees, this hotel lacks in quality in almost everything: tiny and dark rooms; ultra tiny bathrooms, where you almost can't fit there; too much simple breakfast; restaurant and bar that closes very early and with limited choices; and a renewed hotel that still seems very old. Unfortunately, this is a place where not to stay... At least for more than one night.

the room looked nice. Bed was comfortable, however there was no heating and at night it was cold. The shower has very low water pressure and at times the water nearly stopped. The drain was VERY dirty.
Furthermore, walls don’t have sound proofing, so I could hear a baby crying at night, kids running around and hair dryers (which are very old by the way).
Staff is nice and very helpful, however when I asked for an extra blanket they just gave a duvet with no cover.
Location is good and quiet.
Overall nice hotel however too expensive for what it offers.

Lovely looking hotel, located not too far away from the Utrecht city center. Everything besides the room's heating was fine. It was way too cold inside the room, considering the cold weather of the winter/spring season.

Nicely decorated room, with a street view - but very quiet street. The breakfast was missing vegetables but otherwise had a very good choice of foods. Upon arrival the elevator was not working but it fixed very soon afterwards.

We couldn't have asked for a better hotel for our 7-night stay in Utrecht. The accommodations and the service couldn't have been better. Our room was a wonderful size (we chose medium), and it was spacious and comfortable. The staff was kind and attentive, but unobtrusive. We will be happy to recommend the hotel to our friends.

The hotel is located in a pretty street in Utrecht. We had a large room with a balcony on the top floor, with a lovely view. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Breakfast bags were great! - Full of lots of healthy fruit, yogurt, bread, cheese etc. Thank you!

Awful. Dirty, smells like mold, carpet is filthy, very small rooms, unsafe ground floor rooms easily accessible by those from outside. Poor maid service. Cheap linens, cheap sheets. Amenities, furniture, walls, decor extremely cheap quality and price much too high. Window kept falling out of casing. Curtains were thin and didn't keep out sun. A/C did not work. Isn't near restaurants, shops, or anything to do, backs up to student housing. One front desk attendant was exceptionally professional and wonderful, Sande, and she was the only saving grace of the trip. If you ask for her assistance, tip her handsomely!

Dear guest, We are very sorry to read you didn't enjoy your stay at the Malie Hotel. Altough we are always happy to learn from the experiences of our guests - the good and bad ones, we do not recognize our hotel in the here given description. Our hotel was completely renovated at the end of 2015, so nothing in the hotel is either old, moldy or filthy. With the renovation we choose top notch quality curtains and sheets for the rooms. We have different kind of room types and they all meet the size requirements for a Dutch 4 star hotel. The ground floor rooms are definitely not accesible from the outside and apart from that the hotel is secured by multiple video camera's, both inside and outside. The hotel is situated just oustide the city centre of Utrecht (a 10-15 minute walk) in a quiet and lovely area that's appreciated by almost all of our guests. The first restaurant is only a 2 minute walk, and a lot of shops are within a walking distance of 5 minutes. Apart from that there are lovely parks in the area, on the Maliebaan you will find great statues (and the first bike lane of the Netherlands :)) as well as great architecture. We let our technical service check the airconditioning and window cases right away, but everything seemed to work as it should. We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay at the Malie Hotel, but we don't feel your review is a fair or reasonable one from which we can learn. We do hope you will find a hotel that meets your expectations and we are very sorry we weren't that hotel for you. With kind regards, Sanne van den Brink | Guest Relations

How late is reception open until? Have a late flight into Schiphol
Answer from TeamMalieHotel
Utrecht, The Netherlands
We would definetely recommend to book an Executive room! They are spread troughout the hotel, so you can always let us know your preferences. The Executive rooms are wonderful, spacious rooms, with a large bathroom and with a Nespresso-machine. A lot of them have a balcony, which is especially great with the lovely spring weather in the Netherlands right now :-)
