When we stayed at Staten hotel I spoke to a female guest who's been returning to this place for 25 years. And here's why: The hotel is right at the end of the "Fred" - the famous shopping Street Frederik Hendriklaan in the Statenquartier of The Hague. The rooms are spacious and clean. Right after our stay all carpets were...

There's nothing flashy about this place. Basic, clean, WiFi and a good breakfast, and great price, so who can complain. The charm is the neighbourhood, a residential and commercial mix, bakeries, shoe stores and blues bars. Within walking distance of a museum or two, a streetcar ride to the beach or downtown.

We stayed here as part of a cycling holiday. The hotel is accessed via a very steep staircase and the entrance is not immediately apparent in between separate shop doorways and windows. The hotel was clean, but the facilities were basic and more akin to what you would expect at a B & B rather than a 'hotel'. One of...

I loved staying here at the Staten. Like many traditional European hotels, the rooms are small and there's no elevator, but so cozy and attractive. The owners are an older couple who take pride in running a nice place for travellers, and everything was spic and span and in wonderful working order. Breakfast is provided free, and wow! what a...

Hotel Staten is about 12 minute's walk to the World Forum Congress Centre where I was attending a conference, very close to shops and restaurants and not far from tram and bus stops. I had a room on the street side and although the street is quite busy in the day it was quiet at night. A cafe below was...

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. The neighbourhood is great. You can eat well and there's a bookshop and other coffee shops and gift places. The owners are helpful. Everything is clean, if a bit cramped. I had a nice conversation with fellow guests in the breakfast room. If I go back, I'll definitely stay there again.

This is a cosy and friendly establishment situated 4 or 5 km north-west from The Hague Central Station, easily reached by tram or bus. It's in the museum quarter and therefore very close to the likes of the Gemeentemuseum, which is well worth a visit. The area is pretty quiet, not much traffic noise, so a good night's sleep is...

I found this hotel online from the Brussels train station after I found out there would be a train strike the next day and I wouldn't be able to leave the country to get to an important conference in Leiden, Netherlands. Unfortunately, there was a festival in Leiden and all the hotels were booked! I was exhausted and jet lagged...

Small hotel with big rooms in a great location in Den Haag. Owners are super friendly. We loved the location, great area of town with easy access to transit. The park across the street was great for our 4 year old. Our room had private bath, something needs to be down with the shower room. After a shower, the bathroom's...

“The rooms are very basic. It's part of their charm. No need to get a room with a bath: little competition. Front rooms can be noisy.”

“Make sure you take a detailed map with you of the vicinity (off the 'net) as it can be a little tricky to know how to find the hotel otherwise.”

“The hotel is on three floors, which wasn't a problem for me, but with quite a narrow staircase it could be a climb for some, especially if you have heavy luggage. All rooms are at least up one flight of stairs, so it may be worth questioning which room is where. I had a room looking over the main street, but it was very quiet at night and enjoyable to be in.”
