We stayed in a Garden room, and were a bit concerned about the TA reviews calling this lodge "rustic." But we actually found it to be quite comfortable. The decor suits the area, and we liked opening the curtains and seeing cows and a green...More
We stayed at the Poas Volcano Lodge for 3 days in early October 2012.
Getting there: We drove from the Caribean coast, which is about a 4 hour drive over very narrow and winding roads. The website says that the lodge is only 45 minutes...More

We were staying in Poas Volcano Lodge during green season and it was raining most of the evening and in the am. Hiking was enjoyable in the rain around the property. My friends decided to pay for the volcano hike and they couldn't see a thing. They had a blast otherwise, but the scenery was not worth the cost. It also rained at the waterfall gardens, bring raincoat, and umbrella. I found the waterfall gardens to be to touristy, and didn't care to see animals in cages. Reminds me more of a zoo.
