Hotel Navarra Brugge garners acclaim for its attentive staff and sophisticated charm, offering a blend of old-world elegance and modern amenities. Guests have called out the prime location as perfect for sightseeing in Bruges.
However, the value is a point of contention, as some find the room rates, parking, and breakfast costs to be on the higher side. While the hotel's cleanliness and quaint courtyard are highlights, opinions are mixed on the room quality and the size of the fitness room.

Detailed Reviews
We came to Brugge for a few days in December for the Christmas Market and this hotel just added to the fantastic experience. It was such a pleasure to stay at Hotel Navarra, we felt welcome from the moment we arrived and had a truly enjoyable stay. A very warm and welcoming feel as you entered with the decorations and beautiful christmas tree in the reception area by the spiral staircase. Staff here were friendly and we also found them to be very helpful. Our room was comfortable, clean and tidy. The breakfast was enjoyable with a full variety of food choices available. On one evening we also used the Jazz Bar for drinks and were impressed with the service we received.
The hotel is in a perfect location within easy reach of the centre, the Christmas Markets (if that’s the time you’re visiting), the shops and countless bars & restaurants. Not forgetting plenty of chocolate shops. There is parking on site, however by the time we arrived in the evening to check in, there were no spaces left. This wasn’t an issue as there is an underground carpark very close by which is staffed all the time and a very reasonable price !! I recommend this hotel very highly and would definitely consider booking again if we ever revisited Brugge.

Dear guest, Looking back on a successful Christmas period in Bruges during a hot summer makes us blush. And you are right. Soon we will all be searching together for the right Christmas present and we'll look back on the past year. Different than usual! And yet we must remain hopeful. We wish you and your family lots of prosperity and a healthy future. Because nowadays, this is the most important thing! I was quickly checked into this hotel, room 221, at the front of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, speaking excellent English.
The room was spacious with a room safe, coffee maker, 2 chairs, large double bed, tv. And work desk. The bathroom comprised a shower over a bath, washbasin and wc. Storage was confined to the wardrobe but plentiful.
Lighting was generally good but very poor if I tried to read in bed which was a big strain on the eyes.
The coffee maker was good, once I worked out that a minimum level of water, more than two mugs, was required in the container before it worked. The coffee maker used pods, made one cup at a time, but at least two cups could be obtained from a single pod.
The bathroom was good, with plenty of hot water, though it took a few seconds to get through. One aspect of the bathroom was the location of the spare toilet roll which was beside the WC and, in my opinion, prone to “splashes”. I always moved the spare roll to a safer more hygienic location!
Most nights, a chocolate was placed beside each side of the bed.
WiFi was good and seemed to work well all the time.
Breakfast was excellent, starting at 0700 weekdays and 0730 weekends. It was buffet including fresh fruit, cereals, meat, cheese, scrambled egg, sausages and a good selection of breads and croissants.
One feature of the room was the provision of ear plugs which was a little alarming and indicative of significant noise. The hotel is next to a church but I never heard any noise from it, the biggest source of noise was from people overhead who seemed to stomp around like an elephant. Why people can’t walk sensibly and considerately is a mystery. Better or thicker, carpets, cushioning the stomping, would help.
The location is excellent for the old city centre, 5-10 minutes walk, many restaurants and other locations. From the rail station the hotel is probably a 25-30 minute walk. Taxi takes less than ten minutes and cost two people with luggage a total of 10 euros.
One negative point was the room was serviced typically between 1200 and 1400 each day when I usually wanted access.

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for the confidence shown in our hotel Navarra. We appreciate your detailed report on your stay and hotel facilities. We have little to add .. We will forward your comment about the lightning and the position of the spare toilet roll to our exterior designer. It can be important for him to know how guests perceive the interior decoration. Please accept our apologies for the behaviour of other guests, stomping around and disturbing the night rest of other guests. And what the carpet is concerned, we can confirm that we aleady have shaggy carpets in our corridors and hotelrooms. Housekeeping is cleaning rooms on a daily basis between 1000 and 1500. A small talk to our reception team could solve the cleaning time issue for you. We are available for our guests, and willing to help whenever possible. Feel free to contact us again upon your next trip to Bruges! Kindest regards, Benedikte De Bruycker General Manager

Though I wasn't able to stay at this hotel due to COVID-19, how Hotel Navarra handled my cancellation was excellent. They responded within a few hours and though I was a few hours after the cancellation policy had expired they still never charged me. I really appreciated the gesture and will definitely be staying here when I finally get to Bruges. Thanks for doing the right thing!

I had a very short stay - arriving 4am, and leaving by 9.30. In that context, I didn't get to see it at its best. It's a beautiful building, in a good location. Less palatial that the fish-eye photos suggest, but still nice. Having parking in the centre of the town is also a plus from what I can see (if you need it). Everything was perfectly clean and good, but it had the feeling of stepping back 30 years (without anything being worn or torn).
I paid about Eur150. And then there's 17 for parking... and 20 for breakfast (each if you're a couple). This was for the most basic room. The room product didn't stack up at that price - very basic. Didn't see the coffee machine (was it hidden?). Ditto any water. Bed was made with basic blankets and sheets, with basic pillows.
If the breakfast were tip top quality, and the room was made more luxurious, this could be a very nice property that justifies the price. But if all you want is the room, this is a sub 3 star property with a 4 star plus frontage. I would have preferred it to be the other way around.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your stay in our hotel. It has been a pleasure for all of us to be of service to you during your stay. From your feedback we can conclude that our hotel is not the type of hotel you prefer. Bruges offers many possibilities, every visitor can find what they are looking for. We would like to apologize for the fact that we could not convince you. Moreover, the world has changed drastically since Covid 19. Every hotel has to adapt to the new legislation that our National Security Council imposes on us. The road to 'normal' is still long. However, we hope that one day we will all overcome the virus. Keep it healthy. We wish you and your family all the best for the future. Warm regards from Hotel Navarra. Benedikte De Bruycker General Manager

My wife and I stayed here Dec 12th to 16th 2022 for the Xmas Market in Bruges. Having looked at various hotels, we settled on the Navarra and it did not dissappoint us. The hotel has a car park for 25 to 30 cars (chargeable at 20 euros a night) and we were fortunate to find a space there so parked up and the car stayed there for the duration of our stay.
It's a very good hotel in our opinion. Check in was effortless and we were shown to our room. Our room was at the back of the hotel so up and down a few steps in the corridors, but just round the corner from our room was a door straight out to the car park, so loading the car to leave was easy.
All staff who we came into contact with - reception, bar, cleaning and restaurant staff for breakfast were all very welcoming and attentive to anything we asked of them.
The position of the hotel is fantastic for the square where the Xmas Market is held. A couple of hundred metres and you're there. Literally a couple of minutes walk and you're right in the heart of things.
In other reviews that I've read, some have said not to eat in the square as it's so expensive. What I would say is have a look at the menus and prices before you dismiss it, because my wife and I ate in the square every evening. We didn't pay more than 60 euros for a meal between us, the occasional dessert and 1-2 alcoholic drinks each, so we found it fine. The restaurants tend to have the main menu (some of which does look expensive and some reasonable), but they also do another smaller less expensive menu. We ate off that most of the time, but also off the main menu so I'd say have a look and make your own mind up.
All in all, a very pleasant trip. Thanks to all the staff at the Navarra. We would definitely stay there again.

Hotel Navarra is a relatively small hotel in the centre of Brugge. It is clean, quiet and smart but not pretentious. The staff are welcoming, efficient and unobtrusive but very helpful and knowledgeable when help is required. Given its age and proximity to the touristic attractions, its facilities are remarkable: private car park, lift, bar with terrace/garden, basement swimming pool/sauna and air conditioning to the rooms.
The breakfast is amongst the best we have had at any hotel - the perfect way to start the day. There is no evening meal provision although snacks are available from the bar or through room service. A huge number of restaurants catering to all tastes and pockets are within a five-minute stroll of the hotel, so this was not an issue.
The only small negative is that some of the stairs are quite steep and consequently have narrow treads. There is a single lift to all accommodation floors, but if you have mobility issues do make the hotel aware before your stay as they have rooms with direct access to the lift so there would be no need to traverse stairs/steps.
This was our fourth stay at Hotel Navarra, the last being in 2013, and we were delighted to find that it has modernised but not compromised.

Feel free to contact our reservations department if you have mobility problems. Our team will do their utmost to offer you a room near the elevator (we have 2 elevators in the hotel). Beautifully welcoming hotel which exceeded expectations. Staff are very professional & friendly. The breakfast was delicious, both hot & cold, I tried both over our 4 night stay. It is so peaceful & relaxing being carpeted throughout, there is never any noise. Also in a very convenient location. I will not hesitate to recommend or return.

Couldn’t rate this hotel high enough. Perfect location with secure parking for our motorbike. It is first come first serve but we didn’t need to move the bike until we left so we were fine. We arrived Wednesday and by the Saturday when we left we noticed it was far busier, so keep that in mind if you want to park on site. However, there is a car park just off the street which is easy walking distance.
Wellness suite consisted of a small gym, pool and sauna - my partner preferred the sauna as the pool isn’t that warm, but for me it was perfect. Quite slippery steps going down there so be careful and use the hand rail! If you have mobility issues, I’d probably give it a miss?
The staff were wonderful - notably Agnes at breakfast and the 2 gentleman bar staff! Best cocktails in Bruges!
Reception staff were always so friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels and toiletries laid out.
As I said we arrived via motorbike from the UK, so clothes were a bit creased. No iron in the room but the reception bought one down to us to use in the room. There’s also a laundry service but we didn’t use that. Coeliac friendly breakfast options which was a necessity for me. I prewarned them by email that I had dietary needs and each morning when we went for breakfast they bought me out gluten free bread. There is a separate GF toaster (clearly labelled) and cereal and muesli, plus the hot options, fruit, yoghurt, cheese and meats as standard. We had bubbles for breakfast daily and had a thoroughly good trip!! Would definitely return.

Stayed for three nights with children and grandchildren (8 Years and 6 years old). We have stayed here several times before and are delighted to say that the same high standards and super staff have been maintained. Cannot fault the place….as most reviewers agree.
Added bonus for the youngsters was the lovely underground pool…ideal after a day exploring beautiful Bruges at Christmas.
Parking in Bruges isn’t easy but the underground opposite the hotel (100m) is cheap, easy to access and manned.
Although the hotel was full for our three nights the soundproofing is amazing and we felt like we were the only people in the building on the corridors and bedrooms. Breakfast can be busy after 9 am so better to get down there before 9am. Excellent range of hot/cold dishes to suit all ages.
Family room was brilliant…two adjoining bedrooms, 2 tvs etc etc….fantastic value.
As we say each time….we will return 👍.

Just a fantastic experience, which enhanced our stay in the lovely city of Bruges. The hotel's communal areas have retained their lovely medieval charm while the bedroom and bathroom had clearly been recently refurbished - modern, clean and spacious (mid-size room), which are ideal for a city stay. The reception staff were attentive, friendly and helpful with all manner of questions while the sauna/pool/gym are a hidden gem in the bowels of the hotel - really nice to use after a day exploring in the city. For a 4* hotel, you really can't go wrong with this.
