Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room incomplete. A leak in the ceiling. Even though it didn’t leak whilst we were there it had just been taped up. Room smelt of paint. The paint work was incomplete. Complained and they did nothing to compensate. Cleaners came in one day and just made the bed. Did no cleaning, not even wipe around the sink. Would not recommend.

The rooms are so cold and not pleasant due to the thermostat being on the radiators and not giving correct reading of the temperature off the rooms !!! Simply not a pleasant stay unless you enjoy the cold. The staff at reception have a phone app showing the temperature of the heaters in each room - so funny when your rooms are so cold and it’s not pleasant coming out the hot shower !! In fact your not keen to leave the shower !! You are unable to adjust the heating without a heavy fine by the hotel for touching the regulator on the heating systems which are sealed !!! It’s all a cost issues giving the guest a unpleasant stay!!!

First the good. It’s on a pretty canal, about a 7 minute walk from the main square. The included breakfast is buffet, and very nice. It’s right on the free shuttle bus from the train station. The Bad-the aim of this place seems to be to take in as much money as possible by doing the least. We arrived and our room wasn’t ready-fair enough as it was 2:15. The man in reception allowed us to leave our luggage in an unsecured room but wouldn’t let us use the restroom off the lobby. We asked about a near by restaurant where we could have something to eat before we checked in and he told us to walk to the main square where all the restaurants were excellent-and was completely unwilling to just suggest a non-touristy restaurant nearby. Our room was on the third floor with one very small window. No screens. It was 88 and we asked for a fan since it was pretty miserable and he said they would not provide on since it was a budget hotel. On a pretty canal also falls under the bad-we got eaten by mosquitos if we had the window open and the heat was even worse if we closed the window. You want a hair dryer? 5E. You want shampoo? 5E. The picture on the website shows a very pretty room with a canopy bed. Our room was all laminate, very much a hostel vibe with a sliding bathroom door that didn’t close completely and the handle broken off the inside so the only way to get out was to push it out off the upper track, reach around and tease it open. Now the ugly. We all had many mosquito bites but my one daughter couldn’t sleep because they were so itchy. On the day we checked out I took a look and they were in typical patterns for bedbug bites. We had to treat her with topical steroids and benedryl and while the rest of us had our bites resolved in a couple of day, her bites will still quite red and itchy 10 days later. Only one bed seem to be infested and we are always careful about not putting clothes or luggage on a bed, so we don’t seem to have brought anything with us. The desk was closed when we checked out so I couldn’t report it but I have emailed and the hotel seems quite unconcerned.

Well located in walking distance along canals or cobblestone streets to reach sights. Self check in as desk not staffed 24 hours. Desk staff was helpful when available. There are 9 steps up and down to reach the elevator and your room. Room was clean. Clean sheets. Comfortable mattress. Small square pillows. Bathroom needs update. Hot shower with good water pressure. There is no air-conditioning or a fan. It was too hot for sleeping. Opening windows helped with airflow but did let in mosquitos. Fair breakfast is included.

We stayed here for a wedding anniversary and the first challenge was getting in! The reception is unmanned and you need a code to get in, which only took a phone call but was a little worrying at 10pm. The room was clean, dry and warm. Breakfast was easy to find and the food was fresh and generous. The centre of Bruges, and it attractions, was only a short walk away making it an ideal base from which to explore.

Starting with the positives: 1. It was clean 2. The ladies in the breakfast room were lovely and friendly. 3. Breakfast was limited, but reasonable for the cost of the room. 4. The beds were comfortable, up to a point. 5. Towels were changed daily. 6. There was a lovely view. The negatives: 1. There was no seating in the room apart from the bed. So the view was harder to enjoy. 2. No tea or coffee facilities in the room. 3. Storage was 2 clothes hangers on the door. 4. No shower gel, etc., just a small soap bar. 5. The heating was limited to 19°. There was a €150 euro fine if you increased the temperature, or you could pay €50 per day for additional warmth. 6. The bathroom arrangements were not the best if you were a couple on their first trip together - fortunately, we weren't. 7. The decor in the room was tired. 8. The corridor was missing parts of the laminate flooring. 9. Everything such as tea, coffee, hairdryer, and toiletries came at an additional cost. 10. The list of rules that came with the room felt oppressive and unwelcoming. Overall Experience: It was a budget hotel, and I have no problem with that being reflected in the standard of accommodation. However, when you have flooring missing, limits on heating temperature, regardless of the temperature in the room, and no basic provisions, it feels less like budget and more like contempt for the customer. The rules came across as draconian and unreasonable. The tiny pillows? Couldn't they stretch to normal size pillows? Or not charge for extra? Yes, it was advertised as having an unstaffed reception, but when there's so little effort being put into making you feel welcome anyway, it just seems to reflect a general lack of care for the customer, rather like the missing flooring. The breakfast room ladies were lovely, though.

The room was very basic but clean. For us it was fine as we spend all day out sightseeing and only sleep in the room. There was no complementary shower gel etc but we could purchase for 5 euro. The corridors were in a state of been redecorated but it looked like everything had come to a stop as everywhere was half finished. We were told that because of the energy crisis the radiators were set at 19 degrees but half the time they weren't on and the room was cold as we went in February. The breakfast was continental with plenty of chooses and regularly replenished.

Booked a night for a short getaway to Brusges when staying in Brussels. The hotel is tried, the family.room was ok and the beds super comfy. The bathroom was in a poor state and in need of a good deep clean. Location is good for exploring Bruges and we were lucky enough to have a canal view. Breakfast was fab, a continental style that was constantly being refilled by the lovely lady working that morning. Fresh croissants, meats and cheeses along with warm crepes and boiled eggs. Lots of choice. Self check in was easy and straight forward. Would recommend for a 1 night break, the basic nature would be too much for much more for me.

Room 111 was very poor. Windows covered in mold. Emailed and called to urgently get a new room as no physical presence however was told the following day that they do not even check emails. Owner was not apologetic and would not allow us to check out without paying for two nights in full (275 euro). Forced to pay an extra 10 euro to upgrade to another room. Rom 106 was significantly better with windows looking out onto road. Still, a basic hotel with no customer service. Apart from the mold in the first room, there is a saloon type 'door' on the bathroom so you can watch (and hear) your partner on the toilet whilst you sit on the bed. I am petite and yet whilst having a shower, the curtain was either stuck to me or I was hitting off the wall/taps. I felt less clean getting out of the shower. Poor quality bedding and ridiculous small pillows. Only windows were skylights which you could barely see through so room was dark and depressing. Corridors did not have flooring so looked like a building site. As I had wished to leave I looked around for other hotels and there were plenty in a similar price range which looked significantly better than this one. There are no rooms in the beautiful looking building on the canal - only the reception. Misleading. Avoid
