Rasa Gurukul is a stunningly beautiful riverside retreat among the tranquil coconut and spice groves of Kerala. Through its programme of activities, the institute teaches traditional methods of cooking, farming and gardening in an environment which allows students and visitors to rediscover elements of a more traditional lifestyle, and through them, to re-master the trick of happiness in day-to-day living. We deeply believe that food brings together the essential positive energies that create harmony in our world. Rasa Gurukul is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Our stay has been marvellous. It is a place where you can feel in harmony with the people and the environment. We have been so well looked after by the team and a visit to the farm and the explanations given were very Informative and interesting. One of the highlights was the daily yoga with Amil who is a great teacher and yoga master. The food is organic and of a very high quality. The kitchen is open and we spent time receiving instruction from Bonoi the head cook. Mohid was always on hand to help us with anything that we needed and always had a smile on his face.

We had been to Rasa Gurukul some months back and spent a day. We would like to review their restaurant in the National high way at Chalakudy. The Reataurant is located at the traffic signal in the highway where we take a turn to left while going to Ernakulam to reach the Rasa Gurukul resorts. The vegetarian meal is very good. The restaurant is clean and the staff very courteous.

Since I couldn't find a page for this restaurant on the highway at Muringoor, I am mentioning it here. Stopped for breakfast here today. Simple ambience but the thattu dosa and chutney were excellent. Had been planning to visit this place every time I pass by but being at a busy intersection it is difficult to turn in. So I went around further and came back through the service road. They also have a counter outside selling organic vegetables etc. Since it was around 10:45 am there was only dosa available.

We stayed one night on 12th Feb 2020. We had a lovely but fairly basic room facing the river. Room was clean. Views of the river were lovely and saw locals swimming on the far side and also doing their washing. very peaceful. There was only 1 other person staying while we were there and she had been there for a 3 week Ayuvedic
therapy package which I think is probably what the hotel does best. Staff were not particularly engaging other than the head chef. we were taken on a tour of the organic vegetable garden and the farm but were surprised to see the animals cooped up in a small extended shed. Food was vegetarian and a set meal with no choices as far as we were aware.

I recently stayed at this establishment and was so disappointed. The greeting from the manager was non existant no salutation at all. A sweet young man showed us around the farm and then ushered to our rooms in a separate building to the main building. Dinner was at 8.0pm When we arrived obviously they were not prepared tables not even laid. Dinner came in dribs and drabs including the sweet half way through. After dinner we found a table in a side room and played cards only to be told at 10.0 to leave as they wanted to close up. The rooms were very basic no details of facilities (actually there were non apart from being able to swim in the river) no phone and no shelves in the bathroom to put any toiletries on everything went on the floor. The worrying thing was had there been an emergency we had no way of contacting anyone even using a mobile there were no contact telephone numbers. Breakfast was a similar situation with the staff not prepared. The staff did their best but were obviously completely untrained. The young man who had showed us around seemed to be doing the organising as best as he could. After breakfast we saw the manager sitting reading a newspaper and we said we would be leaving her reply "ok" nothing else!. When we asked about getting our cases she just barked to her minions. She was totally unprofessional and rude. I could not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Very difficult to categories this as either homestead farm stay or hotel as i feel it doesn’t sit in either category. There was a distinct lack of hospitality shown to us except from the person who did a farm tour who was very pleasant.
It is set in beautiful surroundings on the waters edge but could be so much more as it looks tired and unkept. Nobody explained if there was anything other than the bullock cart ride available or in fact that you could swim in the river as guests seemed to do. No social sitting areas in the house that we were shown.
The rooms are spacious and clean but with little refinements; bathroom tired and the food was adequate.
The main house and dining room closed at 10,00 pm when we were asked to leave as they wanted to lock up. There was no telephone or any information in the room and or advice given if we had any further requirements or in fact what we did in case of an emergency.
No conversation or interaction on departure from any member of staff as to how our stay with them was.
Having travelled through India over the two weeks and been constantly met with a delightful welcome, first class hospitality, outstanding accommodation and food, this stay fell short in all areas.

We had heard about Rasa Gurukul in London and wanted to spend time there while visiting Kerala. Sadly Das the owner was not there during our three day visit. We stayed in a riverside cottage which was clean and comfortable. The highlight of Rasa Gurukul is the food, three meals and one snack every day of locally grown on the farm delicious Keralan food, exquisite flavours and all vegetarian. Binoy, the chef and his team allowed me to watch as much preparation as I wanted and we also watched metal casting being done the traditional way and had a ride in a bullock cart. Another highlight for me was the daily yoga session run by Anil. The only minus was that WiFi is only available in the dining room area and the staff were waiting to lock up (by 9pm on the last day) which felt a little pressured as there is nothing else to do at night.

Set on a beautiful river . The quant rustic hotel was just great. Staff were amazing and very helpful. The room was spacious. The lunch on a banana leaf was really tasty and very in expensive. My only issue was the mattress was very hard .

a great place to start a tour of Kerala. The kitchen is fabulous, the vegetarian food was wonderful. We went straight from the airport to Rasa Gurukul - unfortunately getting there late evening. But what a beautiful area to wake up to! I only wish we would have had enough time to have a cooking class as they do offer them. Well, that is a great reason to return!
