Many guests revel in the Grand Muthu Forte da Oura's vibrant atmosphere, enhanced by lively live music and dance classes. The hotel's location is a highlight, offering proximity to beaches, dining, and attractions, although some travelers suggest the spacious rooms could benefit from modernization. While the service is friendly, issues with deposit returns have been noted.
Cleanliness is generally praised, yet there are occasional lapses. The hotel's value and amenities receive mixed reviews, with some guests expecting more from a property of its caliber.

We are just getting ready to checkout and I would like to leave a review about this hotel. We arrived to a beautiful reception area, plants, high ceilings and wonderful staff. Check in was very smooth and even though we had arrived on an early flight, we were able to use the facilities until our room was ready. You are asked to pay 100 pounds deposit to ensure you treat the hotel with respect. The room was brilliant, the bed was awesome and our balcony got the sun from early morning to late at night. The view of the pool and surrounding area was fab. We booked bed and breakfast as we like to eat out at all the fabulous restaurants in the area and in the old town. The restaurant was spotless with a excellent choice of breakfast food on offer, the only thing I would say is it is not known that you can order fried eggs or omelettes and we only discovered this on our 5th day when we asked another guest were he had got it from, maybe a notice to let guests know would be a good idea. Staff in restaurant 100%, took time to speak to you and very smart and friendly. My partner even got speaking to the manager of the hotel who was very friendly and asked if we were happy in the hotel. Beach just a short walk away. Taxi and tuk tuk take you into the old town. This is a great central hotel to stay in. We are already looking to book this hotel again

Firstly this is definitely not a 5* standard hotel and very much modernisation is urgently needed especially in the bedrooms areas and other hotel amenities.
However once you get over first impressions and accept what is actually available and you can start enjoying one self.
The reception staff were very friendly, speaks good english and very helpful when it comes to directions and booking taxis and excursions.
The main BIG plus point of this hotel is the super friendly executive chef Sandy and chef Miguel and restaurant staff who makes the whole experience that much better. Chef Sandy cannot do enough to make your dining experience better cooking traditional Portuguese food as well as other food to cater for all types.
As part of the All Inclusive package - you can visit the hotel’s sister sites which are more modern and offer Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean and Asian Ala Carte options for dinner. Food across all hotels was delicious.
We chose this hotel because of the no stag do and hen do policy but it was evident that there were groups and men and woman there on said dos, but luckily we never did get woken up! Perfect distance away from the main strip (10 min walk) and 5 min walk to the beach. And 30min walk to Old Town!
The beds are very firm and does not provide a refreshing night sleep - sometimes I would wake up with my back or shoulder aching!
There are plenty of souvenirs shops and restaurants / supermarket in and around the hotel for those that are not All Inclusive!
There is a luggage holding area for those checking out but not leaving till later in the day. Only 40mins back to the Airport.
Not much to do in terms of entertainment in the hotel but again you can visit sister hotels but your all inclusive drink / food package does not extend to the sister hotels.
Nice and relaxing stay but won’t be returning unless it is fully refurbished and amenities modernised to be a proper 5*!

The positives, very nice hotel, very decorative reception with marble tiled floors and very clean and bright, the restaurant area is also very clean and well laid out, nice assortment of foods available at every sitting but like all inclusive restaurants most stuff was only lukewarm (there is however a microwave available if you choose to heat it up).
Staff are very friendly, polite and very helpful, pool area is good although the pool is quite small for such a big hotel.
Disappointing side for us was the descriptions - when I book a so called "Deluxe Room" I don't expect it to have no balcony, a window that looked onto a fence 20ft away and to make it worse, was actually on the only reception service entrance for every guest, the apparent kitchen area consisted of a converted double wardrobe with kitchen essentials in it, (fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster and some kitchenware).
The WiFi strength was pretty awful considering we were practically next to reception and unless you speak Portuguese the Satalite TV was basically free view with 3 British speaking channels.
Please don't let my comments put you off visiting Forte de Oura because I would possibly go back there, just be sure you know exactly what your booking.
Just don't book a Deluxe Room and expect anything more that a large ground floor room with no view and 4 single beds which would be better classed as a "Family Room"

located in very prime place and well marked signages are the first impression we got, found the place very quickly, the check in was very smooth, all the staff at check in counter was very helpful and explained every facility of the hotel so well. The room had fabulous view; having a tea in sea facing room was absolutely delightful. Their apartments are well quipped, spacious and well designed. The Housekeeping of the hotel definitely deserves kudos, clean sheets, clean towels. A well lit restaurant is their asset, from morning breakfast to dinner, we got plenty of choices to choose from, their recently added B&Q grill area is jewel in the crown. Chef is very interactive with the guests, he always tries to get feedback from guests and try to serve what they like. The recently added Game Room was the good activity place for the families. The best part is their lobby, clean, spacious and full of life, having real plants and full of sun shine is so refreshing in the lobby, can not ignore the unlimited supply from Coffee Machine located at the lobby. This place is so close with all the amities, The Famous Strip and coffee shops, bars, which definitely increase the charm of the place. During the stay we felt like very welcomed, very much part of the hotel family. Keep doing good job team Grand Muthu Forte De Oura.

This hotel is full of stag parties, drunken people at pool during the day… guy being sick at sun bed and smell disgusting.. no staff cleaned up…
Our room had faulty electrics.. bed side light burned twice .. hotel replaced bulb but did it again so we didn’t use.. sat in living area in darkness at night as wall lights buzzed at switch and I got a shock… too dangerous to use… 5 stars on sign outside but this is 2-3 star in room.. reception looks fabulous when you arrive but behind doors dated …
Would I come here again… probably not… I stay in hotels with my work and to come away on holiday and experience this is not good..
If you enjoy living and sleeping on the strip then this is the hotel for you.. club 18-30 but not for couples and families

Don’t go there! When we arrived we were told we had an upgraded room, it was an awful room and it had a terrible view so we asked for another. We were given a room on the top floor and it was late at night by then. The room was terrible but we did not see the full extent of it until the following morning. The balcony glass was filthy and broken with a filthy sun bed on it. The curtains were all hanging off the rails and the sun curtain full of holes and there were holes in the bottom of the bed sheet. The TV didn’t work. That was the good bits, the worst was the bathroom. The bath had some of the enamel off of the bottom of it, both the handles on the bath were rusted and the loo seat kept moving when you sat on it. If we had got the room we had booked we probably would have enjoyed it more as apparently people who had those rooms said they were nice. The restaurant left a lot to be desired, the food was just warm and mostly the same every day. One day the hot plate wasn’t even turned on and the pork in it wasn’t even warm. We told the chef and he just said they must have forgotten to put it on! The only place to get a drink in the day was in the bar in the restaurant and you could not go in there with swimwear on. There was a bar and snack bar round the pool but it only opened from 3.30 to 5.30 which seemed ridiculous to me. We were given a leaflet showing us the entertainment programme but hardly any of it ever happened. There was a singer for two nights and a quiz that lasted half an hour at the most on one night and the rest of the time it was just a guy playing disco music. Anything else on the leaflet never happened. It is definitely a hotel for youngsters and not older people or families. The beach isn’t 500 metres away as stated on the website, it may be as the crow flies, but to walk it takes a 15 minute walk along a steep hill. I have stayed in much better 2 star hotels, this is definitely not 5 star! Don’t waste your money going there.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the hotel, firstly from reading some other reviews it is not a 5 star hotel in the truest sense, however I doubt anyone really expects it to be based on the rates charged.
My wife and I did an all inclusive last minute package which was as good a value as other hotels were offering for just room only.
Check-in was seamless and the lady on check-in was so friendly and helpful. We were allowed to check-in early as we arrived in the morning and were upgraded to have a view.
The room accommodation was very spacious for 2 people with a large double bedroom, separate bathroom with a separate living area and kitchen / dining area. We also had a balcony with a sea view.
In truth the furniture was a little dated, however this really wasn't an issue and didn't affect it's usage or comfort at all.
There was plenty of food with breakfast, lunch, snackbar and evening meals all available. In truth whilst there was a good variety and it was always to a good standard, it can get somewhat repetitive. As we have been to Albufeira many times before, we had a few restaurants that we like and generally used them for our main evening meal, just a choice thing and not a reflection on the quality of the food served.
The hotel, it's room and outside pool area are all kept to a very clean standard with the most friendly and obliging staff. Nothing was an issue for them. The rooms were made up multiple times when we were there with towels changed etc. each time.
It's location is very good with multiple local restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, 10 mins walk to the busier strip and less than €5 in an Uber to the busier Old Town area.
In truth I would have given it a 4 & 1/2 out of 5, however as I can only rate on whole numbers the positives greatly outweigh any slight negatives so it's a 5 from me.
All in all we had a terrific holiday and would recommend the hotel.

I was very worried going to this hotel after having read some bad reviews but I have to say I was very surprised on arrival. I definitely would not rate the hotel rooms 5 star but they where cleaned every day had everything we needed and always got fresh towels. There was a problem with our booking which was love holidays fault so the hotel gave us a lunch voucher and our room and sorted it out for us. If going all inclusive it is so worth it, you get access to restaurants and bars at the sister hotels, there is a bar on the beach which is so helpful, plenty of sun loungers, pool entertainment each day so I would highly recommend the hotel I'm not sure why it has so many bad reviews

In general lovely. Good value, perfect location. Decent private car park with easy access. Light and airy, clean and spacious. This hotel would be perfect with new beds or mattresses and slightly better quality at breakfast.. for example the fruit juice in the machine was basically water. I have worked in the Algarve for the 3 years prior to covid and with a company that sells this hotel and all in the group so I knew what I was getting but this place would be nearly perfect with more comfy beds and slightly better quality food or drink but we would like to say thanks to the staff who were polite, especially the man who checked us in at 1am after our late arrival flight and car hire/ driving.. pool was lovely and some nice singers at the hotel out of season. Housekeeping could be slightly more gentle moving furniture around siesta time. Fridge was great to keep drinks cold like water for our adventures. Lovely hot shower and good water pressure
