    Great hotel

    Been going to Velamar for years and have never been disappointed. Had a minor initial hiccup when we arrived but all was resolved extremely quickly. We had some snacks in the lounge this time and they were better value than the restaurants outside.

    Hello. My friends & I have booked two rooms to stay here at the end of June. We go to the Algarve every year for my birthday & have stayed in some lovely hotels. When I booked this with Jet2 I wasn’t given a choice of rooms so, as usual, I emailed to ask if we could possibly have two balcony rooms together. I was so disappointed when I received a reply informing me that for €200 we could have balconies, otherwise we’d be in rooms without one! I know this is a 3* hotel but I’ve never had to pay extra for a balcony before. I’m really not looking forward to going now to be honest. We’ve been going to the algarve since 2001 & have never stayed in “just a room” Has anyone else been here & been asked to pay extra? There was no mention of this when I booked nor any chance of upgrading. It’s really ruined it for us before we even get there!
