My partner and I went to Lagos, to celebrate our duel birthdays, thinking this hotel would be ok, location etc. I've never stayed in such a dull, unhappy, unhelpful, grubby hotel before.... WiFi was non existent, the tv didn't work, the beds were rock hard, singles and we asked for a double, the cleaning staff were continually knocking to clean rooms before wed even got up for breakfast... cleaning, I use term loosely, made beds, clean towels, but bathroom/toilet not cleaned once in our 5 day stay so we got cleaning wipes and did it ourselves! 3 occasions we reported and tried to report our unhappiness, each time told ,no English speak, didn't understand, and not my problems!!!!!!we love Portugal, and lagos it self, but my advice, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.
Fully recommended! Great value vs price. The hotel is a bit old, however it was clean and tidy. Furthermore, staff were really helpful and friendly, the hotel offers delicious and various breakfast. We would definitely come back.
FANTASTIC is the only word needed for this hotel Montemar in Lagos/ Portugal. I have never been there before, but now I stayed there for 2 days. It's a " down to earth" hotel. But with excellent service, fantastic breakfast and clean rooms. Walking distance to Lagos centre and overall a pool pleasure to be. On my next visits to Lagos for sure this is my place to be. Many thanks to staff for making my visit enjoyable and will be seeing you again. MR. A.B. ESTEPONA/ SPAIN.
As others have said, the building is a bit outdated, noticibly the bathrooms, but that's overcome by the cleanliness. When I come back after a day out, it's clear the room cleaners have taken time to do a fabulous job. The breakfast buffet is actually really nice and fresh (but some eggs please!!). The staff are incredibly nice & helpful. I'm here for 10 days and you can see the staff cleaning windows, walls, floors, every day in their routine. 10 minutes walk from the old centre. As a regular visit to Lagos, and mid way through my stay this year, I'll easily stay here again next year. No problem giving 5 stars!
this small hotel has to be the best value hotel in the area. The rooms are clean, adequate and the breakfast is great with a range of cereals, rolls, toast etc plus tea and coffee. We stayed 12 days whilst visiting the area, and were very pleased. The final plus is the staffs willingness to help wherever possible.
