Stayed for 2 nights in smile hostel. Was very nice and clean. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Good value. Only downside is that it is very hard to find as there is poor signage outside the door!!

Very happy with the hostel. A quick walk to the main areas of Lisbon. Nearby to fantastic restaurants and shopping. The hostel itself is clean, and very fun. Ludi, our host was most informative and a lot of fun. We had an issue with out booking that was promptly resolved upon arrival. Included breakfast/common areas are a big bonus!

Really liked Smile Hostel. The rooms are good with comfortable beds and the communal bathroom is clean. The communal area is really chill with a tele, games console, sofas and bean bags. Breakfast was good with bread and fresh fruit. No complaints, all really nice. Anna who works there was really friendly and really cool. Only problem is it's really...

I had an exceptionally pleasant stay at Smile Hostel. The experience was great value for money. It is centrally located being very close to all the popular tourist attractions. The hostel was very reasonably priced, which included a very filling and yummy breakfast. The hostel is run by a very kind, well-mannered and helpful family; they really make you feel...

Stayed there for one night with my girl friend. Hostel is very central, which is great. Due to uncompromising neighbours, there is no sign of the hostel on the door, but still quite easy to find. We experienced a shortish power cut but the friendliness of the host more than made up for it. Room and services where above average...

Amazing hostel. It is one of the best hostel I found in holidays. Cosy, very clean and really good price to be in centre of Lisbon, so also great position well connected. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is just awesome. Definitely I would like to come back here in the future.

This hostel has the most friendly staff and is very cosy. The rooms are very clean and lovely decorated. And breakfast is awesome! In the summer it gets really warm (maybe a bit too warm). And although you can book a double bed, they often don't have one. So they keep moving people around to get everyone in the right...

My friend and I stayed here for 1 night last week, the hostel itself is really difficult to find - there was no sign outside to say we were at the right place, we just happened to notice on the buzzer that it said Smile which you would miss if you werent looking. The hostel itself is then on the...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
