We stayed here just one night on our way home from The Azores. It was just as we expected - a budget hotel. The room was a decent size and clean, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was ok with a good shower. The location is perfect. Very central. I would recommend this to a budget traveller who doesn't mind...

The furnishing of this hotel was very basic dark wood, but nice enough. The shower curtain did not prevent the sink area of the room from becoming soaked, but this was not a massive issue. There were too shared bathrooms and they were both very spacious. The room was advertised as having a stunning courtyard view which was not the...

I wasn't supposed to be staying at this one but the price seemed OK even tho I paid the price of the original. I had a small double with private shower n toilet. No tv. Wifi worked no problem. Machines in foyer for teas/coffees (they don't do breakfast). Room clean as was bedding and towels. Staff friendly. Very central to...

If you are going to Lisbon just for few days and your plans are only sleeping in your hotel, go here. The rooms are okey. They are a little bit dark but with the price you cannot complain. The staff is very friendly and the guesthouse was very calm, you couldn't hear any noises. The toilets are shared but they...

This is an expensive hotel with the basic necessities. We had a triple room and it was pretty tight. The beds were adequate and the bathroom was clean. However it was very dimly lit which was annoying at times. The wifi was spotty at times. The TV was from about 30 years ago and it didn't work. The guys at...

The staff was friendly and spoke very good English. The rooms were old but if you are a simple traveler it is enough. Great location, everything is nearby even the train station. The room was quite hot though but all in all a good stay.

clean room, bathroom, good shower, comfy bed, great location and so cheap. Very helpful guy. Diogo, on the night shift printed out our boarding passes and was unfailingly kind and polite even when I was ratty and tired when I heard about the 1 euro levy per person pero night by Lisbon city council. It does not pretend to be...

Excellent location, good service, clean room and comfortable bed. The balcony over looking the street was wonderful. The street itself was right in the heart of the town centre, yet tucked just away from the noisy roads and tourists.

Just 2 mins walk to metro and tram station. It is located in the middle of city centre. The famous rossio square just 20 metres from Pensao Residencial Norte. Well, the tram can bring you to the Castelo S. Jorge. The room is clean and nice. Very cheap... It is well recommended!

It's a nice guesthouse, don't confuse this with a hotel. Bathrooms are shared publicly, rooms are small and the luxury varies per room, not to mention the loud noises throughout the night. But! Perfect location and price when compared to hotels and guesthouses in the vicinity. Metro, trams, restaurants and loads of sightseeing locations within walking distance. Just ignore the...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
