I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming guesthouse, situated in a quiet neighborhood but close to lots of restaurants and very conveniently accessible to public transportation. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the vibrant decor - paintings, sculptures, and other artworks. The furniture and accessories are also all carefully chosen to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. There is also a lovely garden and terrace. Another thing that set this guesthouse apart, though, was the kind and attentive atmosphere where they went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed, in a warm and welcoming way. I truly felt like a valued guest and hope to stay here again!

Such a wonderful atmosphere with the most friendly and helpful host. And wonderful artworks everywhere make it such a pleasant place to say. And very conveniently located near a metro station, and with various shops and food outlets nearby.

As a solo traveller who had never been in Lisbon before I felt very welcomed by Carlos, the host. It was truly a pleasure to stay at his house, in my own private room with my private bathroom and private access to a little terrace. The room was very quiet and perfectly dark to have really good night sleeps. Carlos is such a wonderful person to talk to not only about places, museums and city places in Lisbon, but in general about life and world issues :) The old and charming apartment is very well located (walking distance to metro, bus stations, restaurants, shopping centers, etc), it is well maintained and cleanly kept. I can only imagine how the hot and extended breakfast would have been prior to Covid, considering how kind and attentive Carlos is! I would highly recommend this b&b in the pretty city of Lisbon!

“Look no further than whatever” may sound like a wise zen koan, but the phrase also accurately applies to artist Carlos Nen’s comfortable and inviting Lisbon lodging. Ideally located in historic Campo Pequeno, it’s just outside the city center but only two short blocks away from reaching downtown and the seaside by metro and bus lines. As a bonus, directly across the road from the B&B lies a landmark bullring that now houses many fine restaurants and shops, too. Logistics aside, a more compelling reason to pick Whatever Art Inn is the well appointed apartment itself. Inside, there are six well-kept rooms carefully curated with Carlos’s own unique artwork showcasing bedside lamps and gorgeous chandeliers as well as tapestries, drawings and paintings. Comfy beds with just the right amount of support, and velvety blackout curtains guarantee a good rest at any hour. A strong WiFi signal is available as well. However, there is also a much deeper meaning that aptly applies in this case to the term accommodation: to meet the needs and wants of the individual. And that gets to the heart of as to why that this such a special place. Upon arrival, Carlos warmly greets you at the door, asks about your trip, and then shares his personal story as he proceeds to take you on a guided tour through his home. In his office, he brings in beverages for all and discusses his current artwork which is on display throughout the room and then addresses any further questions or inquiries concerning the city or environs. By the way, book ahead room six if available. It’s quiet, overlooks the garden and patio and comes with its own private bath. Also, those of you with a hefty appetite that are looking for a restaurant with delicious seafood, Baia Do Piexe dishes out large platters of local fish, prawns and clams at a very fair price and only minutes away from the B & B. Though all happiness is fleeting, if you are striving for a truly wonderful experience and a good night’s rest, Whatever Art Inn is a journey worth contemplating.

This is a little oasis to retreat to while you stay in the bustling city of Lisbon. Not in the historical centre, but so well-connected on public transport, it is easy to get everywhere. There isn't the bustle of crowds of tourists. Carlos has created a wonderful apartment to stay in. Art is everywhere and makes every room a treat to be in. Our bedroom (room 2) was small but comfortable and had everything we needed. Sharing 2 big bathrooms between 5 rooms was no problem. Breakfast is perfect (thanks for getting our hot coffee just right, Carlos!) and sets you up for the day. The little garden is peaceful and relaxing. Such good value too. The rooms are at road level and we did notice the traffic noise as cars queued for the lights during rush hours - but there are shutters at the window and it was quiet at night, which is all that really matters. Carlos goes to a lot of trouble to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable and he recommended some lovely local places to eat. Staying at this B&B is a real treat!

Whatever Art was absolutely delightful! Comfortable room, spotlessly clean bathrooms, nice robe and slippers, and lovely spots to sit while eating breakfast. The food was plentiful, with freshly baked cakes every morning! And even though it was a bit away from the main tourist areas, it was very easy to reach by metro, and I even found the airport rides to be easy on public transit as the B&B is located a couple blocks from the station. The best part of my stay was the host Carlos. He greeted me with such warmth and kindness, and offered all sorts of nice gestures like a cup of tea with cookies when I arrived, and coordinating a day trip to Sintra, Cabo de Roca, and Cascais (which I never would have figured out on my own). Traveling as a young single woman is not always easy but people like Carlos make it all so easy, safe, and wonderful. If I visit again, I will definitely stay here.

Everything about this place is amazing. It's like being welcomed into someone's home rather than staying in a hotel - and I mean that in the best possible way. The welcome was wonderful, the building and rooms are beautiful and the common areas are perfect for hanging out and chatting to other guests. I only stayed one night but wished I could have stayed longer. I'll definitely be back.

Whatever Art B&B is a really beautiful B&B with a lot of charm. Carlos, the charming host, made us feel welcomed as friends of the house. The subway is just a few minute’s walk away and we enjoyed the quietness after our excursions to the buzzling town. Walking distance to nice local restaurants and bars. We strongly recommend Carlos and his B&B as a base camp for exploring Lisbon.
