Our second stay at the Enotel Magnolia The hotel is in a good location and is spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had half board and enjoyed the food. Like other say we do think the drinks are expensive compared to prices at other venues. We love Madeira and will most likely stay at the hotel when we visit again next year.

Having previously ruled this hotel out we recently stayed for 5 nights and would recommend the hotel. It is very clean, service is efficient and friendly. The breakfast variety and quality was excellent. Location is good and although on a busy road it is not noticeable once at the hotel. If we had to pick a fault the beds are a little too hard. We have booked again for new year. Thank you for a good stay.

Good location just between the town and the hotel zone. Lots of choices of restaurants close by and bus stops for trips further afield. The park behind the hotel is lovely and extensive and has a great restaurant. Everywhere in the hotel clean. Lots of places to sit and relax. Breakfast buffet was good with lots of choice. Both a heated and outdoor pool. Gym area is pretty basic. Staff all very helpful.

This is an excellent hotel that is highly focused on ensuring that its guests enjoy a great experience. The hotel is squeaky clean in all places, not least the rooms which are serviced by an outstanding housekeeping staff. All staff in the hotel are friendly and eager to please. Tina on reception reserved us carnival tickets and replied to our initial email within 10 minutes. The restaurant manager Maria ensured that everyone was happy and that the food was always tasty, well presented and hot! All restaurant staff had a friendly word and clearly took pride in their work - food was varied and delicious. We had one small problem with our shower which we reported in the evening as if occurred. It was attended to and fixed with 15 minutes with full marks to the evening janitor and the maintenance man. The hotel is conveniently situated to walk into the centre of Madeira and has a lovely park with a nice local cafe in it immediately next door. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and intend to return on our next visit to Madeira.

First visited in 2022 and had a great time, despite it being during Covid restrictions and having to wear masks etc. This time the hotel was understandably busier but what struck our party of 8 was how the waiting staff refused to serve tap water during the evening meal and the daft prices for any other drink - €7 for a beer and €24 for a disappointing bottle of wine. We eked out the wine over three nights and after complaining to reception who promised we could get tap water, still had to have a confrontation with the waiting staff each evening. By the end of our stay they had realised that we were going to refuse to buy bottled water but were still pushing it on other diners. It took some of the pleasure out of our evenings in the hotel - my recommendation is not to take half board as there are lots of places nearby that are far more reasonable and varied. On the plus side, it's well located for walks both down to central Funchal and towards the Lido area and the park behind the hotel is a bit of a hidden gem. We stayed in a room overlooking the park this second time - the (more expensive) sea facing rooms have a bit of a view but they face a very busy road system. Apart from the frustrating interactions in the restaurant, the hotel staff are great - we had issues with our door lock that got fixed quickly and politely.

The Magnolia is a small hotel, well situated for local transport with a park, supermarkets and restaurants in easy reach. There is a fairly steep hill up to the hotel. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Our superior garden room was simple but comfortable and I liked being able to access the pool without going through reception. The buffet breakfast and dinner, whilst not being extensive, was varied and perfectly acceptable. There is a very limited wine list, only 3 reds, but all were pleasant. There did not appear to be a dress code in the restaurant, with people in shorts and beach wear. The spa pool is small and shallow, so not for exercise but relaxation, not always possible when children were jumping in it. Also there seemed to be no control over drinking from glasses and bottles whilst in the pool. Going down to the bar for a pre dinner cocktail, I did not enjoy standing next to someone in trunks, dripping wet from the pool or wearing bath robes. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and a few tweaks could have made the hotel a much better experience for me.

This was our 6th visit to this hotel at this time of year. We had a lovely room with a balcony and kettle! We enjoyed the breakfast and evening meal. There is always plenty of choice and fresh fruit. The tea and coffee are a bit bland but you can bring your own and use the hot water if you are fussy. We didn't bother. The staff are all excellent. Very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean and the chairs in the bar area are comfortable. We were pleased to find the bar prices were reduced towards the end of our stay. This will certainly encourage us to stay in the hotel bar in the evening next time we visit. There are lots of bars and cafes within a short walk which we like to try out after our meal. The Magnolia public park behind the hotel is very handy for a snack at lunchtime and you can watch tennis. Next time we visit, we will bring insect repellant and more waterproofs as it was very showery in the middle of January. The hotel is well placed for exploring the island by bus or foot. See you next year!

Just home from a really enjoyable week at the Enhotel Magnolia. Spotlessly clean in all areas. Ideally situated about a mile from town centre and next to Quinta Magnolia Gardens with bus stop outside hotel. Outside pool was too cold to use in January although weather was a perfect 23 degrees but large sized jacuzzi was very warm and well used by hotel residents. All staff were very friendly and helpful and dining room staff were extremely efficient. Beds were comfortable with supportive firm mattress and fluffy pillows. One comment I would make is that the really excellent selection of buffet food could be hotter. Hope to return before long!

This hotel is on a busy main road, but is built so that traffic noise has minimal effect. It is a twenty to twenty five minute walk from the town centre, down a steady hill. The hotel was refitted in 2021 and is modern without being overpowering. The layout is a little unusual as the reception entrance is at the back on a narrow access road. Transfers pick up and drop off at the side of the building up a slight incline. We found Reception to be polite, friendly and efficient. They arranged bath robes to be provided free of charge for us, although we had to ask them for this. The room was a standard one overlooking the sea about 300 meters away. We could also see the cruise ships in the harbour. There was no balcony as such, just French windows with railings beyond. That was fine, as with the full width windows open, we sat in the comfort of the room, fully exposed to the fresh air and view! The shower room was large, with a bidet toilet, basin and hair dryer with a shaver power point. There was a piece of soap and shower gel in the shower. The towels were of a good size and number, but all the room towels were somewhat scratchy. This did not really bother us. The grey sun lounger towels were soft and welcome. There were no tea or coffee making facilities, but having been warned of this by previous reviewers, we had taken our own kettle and supplies. There was a fridge, and milk was easily available. The bed was King size and very comfortable. A safe was provided mounted on one of the many shelves next to one of the two open cloths rails. There were ample power sockets, but no USB points. We had taken our own adaptors anyway. The breakfast is an international style buffet which we liked very much. There was an ‘English Breakfast’ selection as well, although the bacon and sausages were not of the British style! We have come to expect that outside the U.K.! The bread selection was excellent, and we enjoyed the fruit. We did not like the coffee or the breakfast tea very much, although that is down to our personal tastes. The hotel dinner was also of a buffet style. We ate there once to try it out but ate out for the rest of the stay. There is a wide selection of choices, but we suspected that some were pre prepared and re heated from frozen, as some of the dishes lacked flavour for us. Having written that, I must comment that the soup was very nice and the skewer beef was excellent. All in all, we considered that better quality meals could be found outside the hotel, and often at a slightly cheaper price. But not too many outside establishments were to be found close to the hotel. Many were a ten to fifteen minute walk away. So for convenience, the hotel restaurant would be very acceptable. There was evening entertainment provided from 8:00 or 8:30 for about an hour. Each evening is different but includes singers, cultural dancers, musicians and formal dancers. Next to the hotel is the Magnolia Park ornamental public garden. This is beautifully kept and well worth a look. There is an open air snack bar overlooking the tennis courts, and a splendid restaurant in the former English Country Club. Well worth patronising in our view. (Restaurant closed on Sunday evenings) All in all we would recommend this hotel. We found it friendly and clean and good value for money.
