Most tourists to Madeira will stay in the touristic zone to the west of Funchal, with an internationally exchangeable atmosphere. Whoever wants to enjoy instead the charm of an attractive and typical Portuguese town with cobbled Calçada streets, with old buildings, nice shops, typical markets and good tradtional restaurants, should go for a hotel in the town center. The choice...

Having read the mixed reviews on trip advisor I was more than a little sceptical about what to expect from the Hotel Windsor. We are only half way through our week here and I'm already counting the hours until I go home. Firstly the hotel... I am inclined to agree with those that place it in the 2* range, it...

This is an ok hotel and we had a nice stay for 4 nights but we couldn't stay longer. The positives are the hotel has been nicely refurbished, large rooms and bathrooms, fantastic central location, friendly reception staff, lovely pool and area around it. Negatives there is no AC, not sure if it was just the 5th floor where we...

The hotel is in city center, nice, the staff is great, they were very helpful, but the room needs an AC urgently! Also the breakfast could be better. Is not 4 stars hotel, is 3 in my opinion. The receptionist was very nice in order us a early breakfast before we go to the porto santo ferry, thank you!

Windsor hotel is in a great location. In the centre of Funchal. 5 mins walk to cable car, bus stops (also sightseeing buses), marina (catamaran trips from here). Lots of cafes, shops and restaurants around. Few minutes walk to the market. Check out the restaurant next door to the market - mercado des tapas - what a lovely place with...

We have stayed at this hotel before, it's not known for its room extra's or its sound proofing but you will not find a hotel more central and within metres of shops, cafe's,restaurants, bars and ice cream parlours. The staff were quite superb, friendly, attentative and very helpful. The pool and bar on the roof is quiet and secluded and...

Good clean and friendly hotel near old town and sea front. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast although continental very good, downfall is evening meals can be bad if they have a private party on. The bar prices are over the top a large local beer 4 euros while across the road 2 euros and the bar is more accommodating.

This is rated as a 4 star hotel... NO WAY !! The room was O.K . Breakfast was a joke.. We eat out every evening as the menu in the dining room was not at all inviting. We stayed 4 nights and saw different people every morning at breakfast.. More like a transit hotel. Lot of Russian spoken in breakfast room.Rooftop...
