We booked this hotel for a week this November and after looking it up, it looked very promissing, 3 stars and all. Unfortunately, this hotel has the most old-fashioned interior ever, the TV could have exploded any minute and after a couple of days, we found out we had ants in our room. One day, I left bag of candy,... More

Noisy, smelly not renovated for years room, with view to the other building, old furniture, no fridge, no internet, very poor breakfast. There is a terrace on the roof but it is also noisy (air conditioner on the roof). The only good point is a location if you want to go to the city centre.

Clean,no frills hotel in a good location for all the sights. Room made daily and adequate continental breakfast. Short walk down to the seafront but quite a steep climb back up for those not very good on their feet. Suited us for somewhere to use as a base as we were out most days exploring.

The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring funchal. Parking is around the corner of the hotel and picks right outside the enterance. Reception were very serviceable, especially when i required directions for particular places. They knew where the nearest stores, supermarkets and buses were. Reception also speaks four languages including English. The lobby, study room and business centre... More

Hotel in the city center, cheap, has the basics you need to have a good night sleep, great view on the top floors, staff very kind and always ready to get what you need. A bit old, unfashionable carpet, flimsy breakfast.

Booked through Monarch a break that provided this hotel. Looked at reviews on Trip Advisor that were positive. Room was tired and smelly, balcony had a view of an office block. Could not get a cup of coffee after 9pm. Reception staff were useless. Shows that you cannot take notice of reviews on the internet.

We have just recently returned from a week's holiday in Madeira, where we stayed at the Hotel Orquidea. We were due to check in on 8 Aug but our flight was diverted to Porto Santo due to bad weather affecting Funchal airport. We eventually arrived at the hotel on the night of 9 Aug when Funchal was under thick smoke... More

I liked this hotel. The entrance lobby was very nice and room was spacious enough and clean. Breakfast was okay, too, and they even had gluten-free bread when I asked for it. The receptionists were all very nice and helped me find my way around the island. The only minus I can think of was that wifi was only available... More

We were here over Easter 2016 so the weather was more unpredictable than usual in Madeira. Hotel was spotless until an inconsiderate walker didn't check their boots. Staff were always happy to help and friendly. The room was a good size and more than adequately equipped. It's lovely having the dining room on the top floor as the views from... More
