Christine, if you haven't visited already you can book everything you need including buses through Reception at no extra cost. If you book a red or yellow 48hr open top hop on and off bus through Reception for €15 you can sit on it all day long and stop to all the well known places such as the cable car, Reid's hotel for their famous afternoon tea, the harbour where the cruise ships dock and the famous galleon is docked, as well as all the shops and restaurants along the way. Also, the local yellow buses go everywhere and you can ride them all day long for a 5€ day ticket. Every day trip you can imagine can also be organised through the hotel...again no extra charge for this and they all speak excellent English. This hotel is 50m from the bus stop, fabulous restaurants, the Forum shopping centre and a taxi rank. It takes 20 minutes to stroll along one road all the way in to town and taxis cost about 8€ one way if you the walk up hill to the hotel seems too much in the heat. The cable car is near the sea front and you buy your ticket there for 11€ return trip. Very easy to do.
