The good features of this hotel are the great restaurant which offers tasting menus as well as a la carte and excellent breakfast, and its location. It is within easy reach of a couple of metros that have direct trains from and to the airport. The downside is the dim lighting throughout the hotel and 'designer' bathrooms which were both...

Unfortunately all style no substance. Lots of attitude at the front desk, like dealing with border officers . They don't honor SPG elite status. I pushed for an upgrade but the drunken cheering at the bar kept us up till 2am. Ibis has more comfortable beds. We slept poorly and left exhausted the next morning. They do give complimentary water...

Hotel Teatro is in a very accessible and central location, less than 5 mins away from the San Bento train station (perfect if you are coming over from Lisbon) and walking distance to good restaurants and shopping in the town square and attractions. Service was prompt and breakfast had a nice spread including Nespresso and Cava. A member of the...

I traveled to Portugal with friends in late August 2016. Porto was our first stop after a long flight and then train from Lisbon. The hotel, as described by others, is modern, fully bought into the theater theme and dimly lit. The rooms are decent size and the bathrooms are very open (glass doors, etc.). We had complimentary port tastings...

Came to Porto as a couple + my best friend. Found Hotel Teatro on Mr & Mrs Smith website. Amazing quirky hotel in great location. Room was very lush, modern, comfy bed, breakfast included bubbles. Made the two nights in Porto unforgettable.

The only reason that i give only 3 stars is because we arrived at the reception to check in and the receptionist told us that this is a no smoking hotel. I asked her if i can use my electronic cigarette (since i only smoke electronic sigatete) and she responded yes, it is allowed. We went to our room to...

Stayed December 2016 for 3 nights and then returned again a day later for 1 night. Decided not to stay near the river so we had more options for restaurants and bars and so glad we chose this hotel. In the centre of Porto and an safe and easy 10 minutes walk from the river. A great location to explore...

The hotel is really excellent, the room was very nice, with a unique decoration including the bathroom. Breakfast was very good with a nice verayety of selection. The location is really a winning one. Just a few minutes walk from Rua Santa Catarina and most of Porto's attractions. We'll surely come back!

Hotel Teatro, located in the heart of the vibrant city of Porto, is one of the most original luxury hotels in the world. Upon pushing the iron doors engraved with words by the Portuguese poet Almeida Garret, one immediately feels the special atmosphere of the place. Hotel Teatro is the perfect hotel in Porto, boasting fantastic design, comfortable rooms, an...

The room, the hotel itself and the restaurant were all gorgeous. Modern, well decorated and comfortable. Very impressed. The food in the restaurant was phenomenal. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in years. The dinner was spectacular as well. They used tu have a Michelin star. The reason I gave four stars rather than 5 was because of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more   less
