First of all, when I made my reservation, I requested a room in a quiet area. I know they got the request because they emailed me (3 times) that they would "try their best." When I arrived, they assigned me a room immediately above an outside eating area that is open until midnight on Fri/Sat and then the workers pile up the tables and chairs making noise until 12:30 am. Then they start setting out the tables and chairs (again with great noise) at 7:00am. So the only time the room was quiet from outside noise was during those 6-1/2 hours. I didn't complain as I didn't realize the extent of the problem until the overnight time frame. I had things to do the next day (instead of taking time to complain and move) and I knew the hotel was full on the Saturday night of Easter weekend so I reluctantly decided not to complain since I felt it was unlikely to do any good. Secondly, when I arrived at 3:00pm or 3:30pm, a room was not ready. Next, on one of my full days (I spent 3 nights), I spend the entire day out returning to the room at 5pm. The room had not been serviced. At about 5:05, housekeeping arrived to clean the room. Really? Are they understaffed? Obviously, all of the above items were purely service items that better management could have avoided. But the physical characteristics of the room could use some improvement. The room was small considering it's a very modern 4 star hotel. My wife and I travel with only carry-on luggage and their wasn't really enough room to place our minimal luggage comfortably. I would hate to see what some of these travelers with large luggage would do in the room. Other than that, the hotel is in a good location and aside from a very few rooms over the outside eating area (as I documented above), being inside the Mercado Bom Successo was pretty interesting. This is not a bad hotel. I just had a bad experience (that could have and should have been avoided).…
Great location and superb food markets under the hotel. However air conditioning is a serious miss here. We had all sorts of problems - it is centrally controlled so don’t think you can control in your room. May seem like a small point but not if you need a cool room. Otherwise a great place.
My Family and I have recently stayed at this hotel and I do not have anything but praise for the staff which werre very friendly, warm and nothing is too much for them. All the effort that they have shown us in accommodating our Kosher food requirement is beyond our expectations. Thank you very much for making our stay at your hotel a wonderful experience and I highly recommend Hotel da Musica to anyone that is looking for an accommodation in Porto.
Perfect location if you have to spend a couple of days in Porto to visit the city or for business purposes. Continental breakfast ok, nothing special. Very kind and professional personnel. Unfortunately not many extra services offered.
I’ve stayed at this hotel just one night, during a business trip to Porto. Ive been very well received, by kind and very professional employees. The room was very clean and it has a compact but very good design so it field spacious. In general the accommodations were comfortable with everything one may need (even a little chocolate waiting for you on your bed). I used WiFi, plugged and worked with a laptop, and everything went smooth. I did not try the breakfast or restaurant in the hotel because the area is full of cafes, snak-bars and restaurants. I would recommend it!
From the warm reception all the way through parking under the hotel to the staff and the very modern rooms this place is a gem in Porto. We stayed here for 2 nights. The window opens to the food mall downstairs. It is very clean. Nice amenities in the area. Breakfast was very good.
Half of me is loathe to review this little gem because I want to be able to book a room here whenever I travel to Porto! The hotel is clean, the rooms are airy and have a unique layout so feel very very modern and spacious. Beds very comfortable, The hotel is themed with musical scores on the walls and famous classical composers outlined and named.... oh and violins and stringed instruments all over the place, I loved it. The hotel was well thought out and stylish. The reception staff are fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Their secret is on the basement level where the restaurant is located .... steps down to an old covered market area which we stumbled upon and it is full of little food stalls and casual dining areas we spied Asian, sushi, Portuguese. fish, pastries, ice cream, wine specialists, pizza and others I can't even remember now. Also, there was music, the ambience was lovely and it all seemed to be open until 23:00. Perfect.…
Great welcome to this designer hotel. Despite our late arrival David made us very welcome in the restaurant, advising on local wines and cheeses. Room very comfortable although it looked out over the adjoining Mercado de Bom Sucesso, à food hall where we ate several times. The hotel has no control over the music or sound level from the market; Our third night was very disturbed by hammering, sawing and drilling. On complaining at reception, they immediately offered to switch rooms. On returning at the end of the day we found our luggage transferred to a bigger, quieter room, my dresses hung up, and a plate of desserts and two glasses of port! Full marks for accepting and rectifying a problem!
Stayed here for a long weekend. Good location, very clean and staff were lovely. The hotel is a little ‘different’ being attached to a food centre and having partially open plan bedrooms to the bathrooms but overall good. Rooms were small and it was impossible to close the wardrobe door because there was too little space between it and the bed.
The hotel has a modern design and the rooms are good. Though a comfortable chair could be added to it. Good shower and comfortable bed. But what I liked most was the very friendly and professional staff, in reception, bar and restaurant.
