Luxurious rural Bed & Breakfast, a place where you feel at home! For those looking for the real Spain, this is the place for a relaxing holiday. Cortijo La Zapatera is located in the unspoiled countryside near the white village of Canillas de Aceituno, in the south of Spain in the Andalusia region. In this authentic region, La Axarquía, you can enjoy nature, sun, sea, culture and Spanish cuisine. There are plenty of walking, sports and recreational opportunities. From the cortijo and the surrounding gardens you have a view of La Maroma, the highest mountain in the area. The estate has its own vineyard and hundreds of olive and almond trees. This typical Spanish cortijo is spacious with comfortable 4 guest rooms, 2 apartments and has a beautiful swimming pool. The garden has various courtyards, terraces and water features. The Andalusian interior is a mix of atmospheric elements from Spain and Morocco. Relax, Unwind, Enjoy!

Rasja and Wouter are wonderful hosts. They speak fluent English. Breakfast was varied and generous with yoghurt, eggs, cakes, toast, cheese ham etc. We had five dinners all of which were a delight. All the rooms and the pool were kept spotlessly clean. The location is up in the hills but so, so peaceful We regularly went to the beach at Torre but we also went on day trips to the White Villages, Granada, Frigiliana etc. The property is surrounded by olives and almonds and a lot of new shrubs such as oleanders have now been added.

Even coming by the route recommended on the website you need to have a decent sized car. A Fiat 500 or 2CV would not be a good idea!

We stayed in La Casita which was perfect.

Strongly recommended.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay here. The house and gardens are beautiful and so much thought has gone into providing everything we needed for a restful and peaceful stay in the mountains of Andalucia close to beautiful white towns and villages as well as the coast.
We felt completely safe from COVID-19 as there are so few cases in this area. At the moment it is very quiet and a perfect time to explore the area. We drove through the mountains to Granada. It was a stunning drive with so many landscape surprises.
We visited the very empty and amazing Alhambra, a perfect time to go with so few tourists. Granada itself was quiet and relaxing with the shops and restaurants opening at 5pm until 10pm
One piece of advice is to read carefully the travel instructions that Wauter gives as google maps could take you on very difficult roads. Drive slowly and enjoy the mountains and you will be fine.
Rasja and Wouter provided really delicious breakfasts and authentic Spanish dinners and were great in coping with my fructose Malabsorption and providing meals that were perfect for my diet. They are both very thoughtful and nothing was too much trouble.
We are now self isolating and still so very pleased we kept our booking. I cannot recommend Cortijo La Zapatera highly enough. If you want a slow pace of life you will get one in this wonderful guest house.

If only the silence and tranquility from this B&B can be bottled, we would all be lining up to get it. Cortijo La Zapatera is a genuine respite for the mind and body. The rooms and surrounding offer a tranquility that only such physical space can create. If you want an active holiday by doing hiking and other activities, you can very well do that. But if you wish to just relax and enjoy the serene surroundings, you only have the birds singing and the occasional croak of the frogs in the small pond to listen to.
The owners offer excellent service, the breakfast well thought of, the vintage china for breakfast quaint, the rooms clean and designed with comfort and beauty in mind.

Your enthusiasm and the drive that brought you to follow your dreams has indeed blossomed into an unbelievable experience at Cortijo La Zapatera! Being greeted by majestic hills as you drive into the hinterland of Málaga, arriving at La Zapatera is a mixture of wonderment and an immediate feeling of peace&quiet as you enter through the Portico with it’s secret garden and the abundance of terraces with their varying views.
With the homely feel of the Cortijo, your warm welcome for your guests immediately made us aware of the ‘Mi Casa es Su Casa’ feeling!
Your attention to detail and the needs of your guests is amazing! Our stay with you was wonderful and we are grateful to you for letting us experience ourselves the beauties Spain and it’s culture has to offer. The drives to the coast, the city, the mountain walks, sharing delicious meals and wines were wonderful and your thoughtful touches for our anniversary made it just perfect💝
Muchas gracias, Rasja & Wouter y hasta luego!!

It's one of the perfect place where you can de-stress, rest and have an amazing time enjoying the surrounding nature and the inside of the structure.

When you get there it's obvious how the hosts are paying attention for the details. It's impressive cured, both as a home decoration and as a service.

The honesty bar it's a very cool idea where you can have some nice drinks and snacks at very good prices. It's an exciting pleasure to have breakfast on the terrace with nice local products.

1 advice! Don't follow Google Maps! This way it's doable, but a bit hard to reach "La Zapatera", due to the steep and not asphalted road. Take first "Canillas de Aceitunas" which is very nice to visit as well if you go during the day, and from there, go to Cortejo la Zapatera.

This boutique B&B is the perfect place to totally relax. Rooms are lovely - they even have a Nespresso machine! Great far reaching views. We really enjoyed our two day stay. The hosts speak excellent English and definitely go the extra mile. Do request their home made tomato, mango and avocado soup - It is delicious!
The approach track can be a bit daunting. Make sure you come in from the Canillas de Aceituna side ( as per the web site). Do not follow your sat nav like we did!
If you are renting a car, try to get something with decent tyres ( unlike us!!).

Stayed here with my girlfriend in August. Upon entering you will feel the hospitality, coziness and, above all, the tranquility of this classic Spanish residence. Wherever you are on the site you have a breathtaking view with the singing of birds in the background or the goats in the distance, an oasis of peace. The Dutch owners are immediately ready to help you if there is anything or if you have any questions. It was also no problem to book an occasional breakfast and it was very well taken care of (delicious home-made items). Add to that the spacious swimming pool and beautiful garden and you have a perfect luxury base for exploring the region. Due to the location, it can sometimes be a bit challenging on the (steep) mountain roads, but luckily you get a clear route that is easy to drive regardless of the type of car you have. Staying at Cortijo La Zapatera is highly recommended!
