My husband and I spent a week here recently and I have to say we loved everything about it. We walked everywhere from Plaka as it is very conveniently situated. Only downside for us was on catching the metro for the airport on leaving my husband had his wallet stolen(with a substantial amount of money unfortunately). It was taken from...

Dear Guest, I would like to thank you for your kind comments about our hotel, despite the bad experience you had from pickpockets in the metro. Both the stations Syntagma and Monastiraki are on the same line and in my opinion tourists, in particular, have to be very careful. It is recommended to have their valuables inside their cloths. We were...

My wife and I spent a week at the Plaka hotel and were very happy there. The hotel is very well located, very central for holiday-making. We found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Our room had all that we would wish. The breakfasts were very good. The rooftop bar has a terrific view of the Acropolis.

My friend and I stayed here for a total of four nights recently, over the course of two stays, with a slight detour over to Mykonos. The staff was friendly and very inviting, they helped us with all of our questions, recommending places to eat, helping us call to confirm our tour groups and showing us how to get places...

The Plaka Hotel, of course, is right in the Plaka. From the rooftop bar during happy hour you can gaze upon the Acropolis. In the daytime, just step outside and you are right amongst the bars restaurants and tavernas of this ancient part of Athens. Easy walking distance to historical sights, Syntagma Square and shops. Rooms are well appointed, comfortable,...

Our stay (3 nights) was more than just satisfactory. This hotel has the best location in the center of everything. the hotel is well planned, on the main street but quiet, the rooftopterrace with the view of the Acropolis, armchairs and bar was incredible. Room (deluxe) was comfortable, clean and the view from the big window was realy great. The breakfast...

We normally stay here or at The Hermes when we stop over in Athens. They are both equally good, nice location, clean and comfortable, with efficient staff. Theres not much to call between them . I seem to recall the breakfast is better at The Plaka.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
