The Plaka Hotel is mentally located in the old city area. The hotel is very well appointed and the breakfast was excellent and included in the room price. The wifi was very fast and free. The hotel staff were very helpful and gave advice on attractions. The hotel is located near Syntagma Square so you can easily get from the...

The most remarkable advantage of this hotel is its terrace with magnificent view on Acropolis. Breakfast is rich and tasty. Position of the hotel very strategic betweet Syntagma and Monastiraki. There is just very weak wifi in the rooms. I found the douche corner in my room so small, that glass door wasn ´t possible to close being inside. I...

I concluded a week-long trip to Greece with a three night stop over in the Plaka hotel. The hotel is just a few blocks away from the Central Monsatraki Square with its tavernas and bars and shops. A well presented hotel with well appointed rooms with stunning views over the city. The best view though is from the roof garden,...

My wife and I stayed in Plaka hotel for 3 days. The location is great - at the centre of Athens, less than 5 minutes from Monastikari station and within walking distance to every major attraction (Acropolis, Agora, temple of Hephaestus, temple of olympean Zeus etc.). From airport, we took metro line 3 and got straight to Monastikari station (we...

Me and a group of friends stayed here from January 28th - 31st, and everything about it was fantastic! The food was everything I expected it to be, a nice continental breakfast with a range of meats and jams, and both hot and cold drinks. The restaurant manager came to visit us while we were eating, to check that the...

Three things make this hotel a great place to stay in Athens. First it is ideally located - 5 minutes walk from Syntagma Square, 5 minutes from Monastiraki Metro, and 10 minutes from the Acropolis. Secondly the customer service is exceptional. At breakfast, you are asked if everything is OK with your stay and if you need help planning your...

From the moment you entered the hotel the staff was professional, polite and friendly. Breakfast was excellent with a varied choice to suit all tastes. The roof terrace was a bonus - the view of the Acropolis was just stunning, especially at night, as was the view of the centre of Athens. The location of the hotel was great -...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Plaka Hotel and it was amazing. Service was awesome and everyone was friendly. Georgia (cleaned my room while I visited) taught me some Greek and was so wonderful. Everyone made an effort to assist with travel/tour information and even recommended where to get good food. My room with the view of...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
