Hermes is a small hotel which makes it feel personal in such a big tourist city. The staff was very helpful to myself and other guests. Rooms are clean and a good size. Breakfast was lovely with a good variety. Walking distance to Acropolis and Museum, shopping and restaurants.

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 28 December 2016

Hotel Hermes offers super-central very nice but slightly dated rooms. Last year room 208 facing the street of the hotel entrance was quiet. This year we had a room facing the other side on a top floor which was noisy (school, parties, ...). The balcony onto the street with the hotel entrance is not v.noisy off-season but there is no...

The hotel was in a pretty good location just do not think that it was worth the money that they charge. The bed was not the most comfortable and the walls are paper thin as you can hear people talking, in their bathroom showering etc or coming and going.

My daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights when we were visiting Athens. It is in walking distance to everything but most importantly the service was wonderful. Specifically Maria G. helped us immensely. When our ferry was cancelled she made sure we got a flight to Santorini and would help us call our travel agent and restaurants. She gave...

A lovely hotel with attractive rooms, very friendly and knowledgeable desk help, tasty breakfast and superb location. Walk to everything: close-by tavernas for dining, the Plaka, the Acropolis, the Agora. Price was reasonable. Small elevators by US standards, but certainly effective. Room was quiet, well furnished and convenient.

Strongly recommend the great team at Hermes. Always smiling & ready with some great tips for getting out to see the less touristy side of Athens (as well as the usual places). Cheap & fast laundry service, really good breakfast. Fantastic showers in the rooms too!

I spent one night at the Hotel Hermes, because the place at which I normally stay in Athens was completely booked. But I will return to the Hotel Hermes on future trips. The place is within easy walking distance of Syntagma, Monastiraki, and the Acropolis, yet it's on a side street away from the noise and bustle of those spots....

This hotel is centrally located between Syntagma square and Monastiraki and is only a 15 minute walk to the Acropolis. The staff are efficient and friendly. The hotel is obviously well managed. The little extra touches I loved: coffee and biscuits available all day (free); continental breakfast available even if you have to get up at 5am to catch a...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
