My Wife and I stayed here for just one night and thankfully it was only one night. The room was tiny not even enough space to open both our suitcases. The room had many bugs, in the morning I saw 4 cockroaches in the bathroom. They don't have an elevator so I had to carry 2 suitcases up 4 flights...

We had to leave in the middle of the night because there were at least 10 cockroaches walking in the bathroom and a few in the room. When I told the person that was in charge of the hotel at night, he told me "I'm sorry, in the morning we can clean it". It was the worst experience I had...

Nice, good situation, nice people, not a palace but honest and fair, with a wonderful patio on the roof. A room with a fridge and baking trays. Between Omonia and Exarcheia, just next to Koletti : perfect to hang out.

We had a really great stay at Alyzia. It's less than 10 mins walk to Omonia station, good central location. The staff are lovely and really helpful - especially Petar the night man! The staff helped us plan the next stage of our trip and were always happy to answer our questions. There is 24hr reception desk with good security,...

This is without doubt the worse "Hotel" I have ever seen. The staff or person on the reception desk is very friendly but the room are tidy, cold, windy and noisey. The towel they left in my room was stained, the shower broke and was not fixed and I found bugs in a draw with a food wrapper from the...

You get what you pay for. Alyzia may be the cheapest hotel in Athens, but not worth waking up covered in bed bug bites. The rooms smell bad, and the street is noisy. On a positive note, the staff are friendly, the wifi works great, and there is a great strip of bars and restaurants just up the road, but...

So the workers were really friendly but the room wasn't the best. When we walking into the room we had this awful smell that made you sick to your stomach. We tried to stay out of the room as much as possible. We figured that it came from the drains and just kept the bathroom door shut the whole time....

We booked the "hotel" so that we would just have a night's sleep after barcrawling and to ease up our next day's walkaround to monastiraki and plaka . Around 2 a.m. when we got back to the hotel , we sensed this stench coming out of something in the room (probably drains) that kept growing by the minute. That took...

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
