Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, breakfast included. Quite a good quality for the price offered. I stayed alone. so the room space was enough for me, despite it was small. The room was cleaned up every day. Breakfast was simple, continental. There is also a bar in a hotel where you can buy coffee, water, alcohol. Internet (Wi-fi) is available only at reception place. But the most important thing for me was the location. Lots of interesting places around, reachable by foot, such as Syntagma, shopping street, stadium, etc. Lots of shops around. I was not amazed by the hotel, still I would probably come back if I would need to stay in Athens again.

Arrived after midnight on foot from the metro station. Very eerie in the dark, very run down area of Athens. Hotel itself complete contrast. Friendly Staff, Room reasonable for the price had paid, bathroom small but enough for one. Breakfast was reasonable but dining area small. . Reading others reviews concerning being safe outside the building, was the first time in any place had visited I took extra precautions with my belongings as a tourist.

The hotel itself is not amazing, nor horrible. The rooms are quite small and you will have the minimum that you need. The Wi-Fi is not really good and the breakfast is a little disappointing. The personnel isn't super friendly but they're not awful either and the general mood/ambiance of the hotel isn't the greatest but let's say the hotel is fine. Not amazing, not gruesome, it's just ok. But the neighbourhood is terrible, I have to stress that. We didn't know that before our stay and a local confirmed that it was probably one of the worst neighbourhood of Athens. You'll find illegal immigrants (and only men which can be additionally scary when you're a woman), drug dealers, a lot of junkies (either passed out on the side of the road or preparing their syringe). It is not safe AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT, even in the middle of the day, it's scary to be there and you should not be there alone or be there at all. Considering this, we were quite disappointed that the personnel of the hotel never warned us about anything. Even when we (2 women in their early twenties) were heading out at 10pm, they were never benevolent and they never told us to pay attention to our environment or to always stay together. So please please please, be safe, especially if you're a (or several) women, if you're one (or 2), if you're a family or if you're young or a senior. I am not kidding you when I say that one night, two junkies were passed out right in front of the hotel and the door was closed because it was 11pm, we were terrified.

WE ARE PROUD OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD (*) Hotelier THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING LEFT TO LOVE.. (**) Loraine Hansberry, or PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF GOOD, or ATHENS IS A JOURNEY NOT A DESTINATION, or HOTEL IS A SHUTTLE OF LOVE AND HOSPITALITY, or STAY POSITIVE AND HAPPY.. (Tena Desae) Dear young visitors Thank you for reviewing the positive points of the hotel. We can distinguish, within a very long and rather unfriendly and semi-negative locutions text for the hotel, some good things like: 1) "the hotel is fine" 2) the "staff is ok" Regarding these two points we add 2 extracts from booking com visitor's cool reviews, concerning hotel and its location; "Great value for money and very nice staff. The location is pretty good, very close to city center. There are 2 ways to reach the hotel from the city center, one is on small streets where there are a lot of refugees and it can be a bit scary, but you can easily avoid this area by going on a main boulevard, so it’s very safe"... and another one: "It was (HOTEL) cheap and adequate. Clean & the air conditioning worked. Bed was comfortable".. In the above two critics one can see another aspect of viewing things in and out of the hotel, as staff, hotel value for money, serious room infrastructure, cleanliness and services.. As far as concerns location imagine that the hotel is found at the top of a right-angled triangle the legs of which lead not more than 15 minutes walk to the two more historical points of the world. The Acropolis rock with Parthenon (442-332 B.C.) south, and The first Olympic Stadium (1896 A.C.) of the World. Then the visitor may follow and discover unprecedented beauty things along hypotenuse as Acropolis modern Museum, Handrian's Gate, Zeus Olympian Temple, National Garden etc).. As we have noticed the duration of your stay in our hotel was 5 overnights fair enough to visit and study topics of Athens History, legends, and participate following your interests to several quality cultural events. We have remarked that you have emerged your eyes and soul with probably for you scary and unpleasant socially real icons (as in many capital of the world) and you missed perhaps other positive facts in Athens. However we are sure that your stay was constructive and you have got enough elements to feed a whole life. We are sure that nothing negative happened during your stay. Additionally in our our area (place Aghiou Konstantinou and National Theather) a large number of hotels and international chains are located, see booking.com hotel maps and never never happened something negatively remarkable. Dear young ladies we are ready to invite you in Greece and fix for you a special custom made program of stay and visit Athens (personalized) not to change your opinion but to enrich positively your experience. Additionally we would like to keep you informed about all renovations and reforms to be made in our hotel and in our neighborhood as well in Athens mean while. Please keep contact with the hotel through booking.com and we will be happy to send you a brief history of Athens - Greece and you will understand better why we are proud of our neighborhood which is a small part but of great importance of the heart of Athens.. Thank you again for giving us the opportunity and the space of exposing our views.. and we shall be happy to see you again. We would be obliged also to you after that if you could kindly revise your review. Thank you. NOTE: 1(*) An emblematic huge orthodox church Aghios (Saint) Konstantinos, build on 1905 and recently renovated. distance 50 meters 2(*)2National Theatre of Greece :The theatre was decided to be founded in 1880, with a grant from King George I and Efstratios Rallis to give theatre a permanent home in Athens. The foundations for this new project were laid on Agiou Konstantinou Street and the building itself was designed by the famous Saxonian architect noted for many other public buildings in Athens at the time, Ernst Ziller. Despite problems getting the building done in time, it was eventually completed in the late 1890s and in 1900 it was opened as Royal Theatre.Distance: 100 meters. 3(*) Place Aghiou (Saint) Konstantinou: Was the very first Bus Terminal of Peloponnese very known all over Athens and Greece. 4(*) Very serious measures for solving social problems are taken from Athens Municipal and Government Administration are taken recently in order to resolve radically such a problems. The hotelier is participating personally to these efforts.

Try to avoid booking this hotel. We had a terrible experience. On our first day we were asked to stay in a very small room (No.603) which had a 2x2 ft shower and small wash basin in a cubicle which has no room to move our arms to do a proper wash. Worst than backpacker accommodation. When challenged, the management moved to a slightly better room. On the final day of our stay there was no water at all for shower or wash. Terrible. Avoid.

Excellent service, close distance to metro, clean and well organised accomodation services. It is one of the best choices close to downtown centre and you extremely close to one of the most significant landmarks, the National Theatre.
