Stayed here two nights. Lovely hotel for a city break. In the heart of things. If you want to be in amongst the locals definitely the place to be. Lovely views from upstairs rooms and breakfast terrace across the town. Nothing too much trouble. Everyone was so friendly from hotel staff to people out and about. Not hassled at all....

My fiancé and I stayed here last night. Arrived at midnight, check in was good, friendly staff. We had requested a high up room and a non smoking room upon booking however we were put in a room directly near the entrance on ground floor and it most definitely was a smoking room! Smelt horrible. Noisy people especially early in...

Excellent value for money. We were 2 adults and 2 children and got the budget family room. It was low season so we paid around 70€. Budget means it is on the ground floor thus has no view, but it was very clean and quiet. Also there is a public park across the street with swings etc where kids can...

We loved this hotel, it was quite central without being right in the heart of the touristy part, and we loved the walk to the centre as much of it was through a pedestrian zone. The view of the Acropolis was INCREDIBLE. Breakfast on the rooftop was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

The Hotel Dryades & its sister, the Hotel Orion are little gems of comfort and value. Being a family run business also makes it a super warm experience. I can't fault this hotel with its super helpful staff, lovely location, terrific value & great housekeeping. An added bonus is the kitchen where you can cook your own meals. Highly recommended...

This is a really nice, basic hotel. No luxuries, but wanting for nothing. We had a tiny bathroom and the furniture and decor was pretty dated, but it was really clean and well cared for. We also had two balconies on two aspects of the room. One of the balconies had a great view of the Acropolis and across Athens....

This family-fun hotel is situated on a hill overlooking some parts of the city, so be ready to climb the stairs and or take the alternative from the other side. We recommend you arrange airport pick-up/drop off with the hotel. We called the hotel to give us the best room (room 24) facing the Parthenon, lucky it was available, enjoyed...

My girlfriend and I recently spent two nights at Hotel Dryades and really enjoyed our time there. The hotel is clean, has well-equipped rooms and is in a neighbourhood full of bars and restaurants. The staff were incredibly helpful; on our last day (having checked out) we came to collect our suitcase from reception, whereupon the owner offered us an...

The Hotel Dryades (& it's sister hotel The Orion ) are two wonderful little boutique hotels in the heart of Athens' creative and alternative area, Exarchion. The nearest metro is Omonia (10 minute walk) but a short cab ride will get you to the hotel very quickly. The hotel staff were very helpful. The receptionist made me a Greek coffee...

We stayed at Hotel Dryades for three nights and were warmly welcomed by the gentleman on reception and shown to our room. We stayed in a basic room however we found it clean and comfortable; our room faced onto a small court yard, were we could sit outside. There was a kettle and a fridge which were useful, the bathroom...

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
