Right in the heart of beautiful Athens city (Greece), in the scenic area of Plaka, on the foothills of the magnificent monument of Acropolis, you can find the comfortable "Nefeli" Hotel. Established in 1976, this small (18 room in total) family run hotel, has managed to gain many loyal customers over the years, both from Greece and abroad. Also, Nefeli Hotel has recently been refurbished in the neoclassical style to fit in harmony with its' surroundings. Nefeli Hotel is situated only five minutes on foot from Athens' city center and yet in a very peaceful area. It is located between the Metro Stations of Syntagma and Acropolis, close to tram and central bus lines. I made an error and left a review for the wrong hotel with a similar name, so I'm rewriting this review for a stay in Feb 2020 prior to the pandemic. The location is great, the staff were nice, and the rooms seemed updated. The front desk manages the keys, so you don't carry a key card around with you. You must leave it at the desk and the employee takes care of it. I also had breakfast which was the same everyday, however, with my allergies and picky tastes, I didn't really get full value out of it. I'm sure others could. It was also weird being served from a room. I prefer to choose my own food instead of being served, but this may have changed after the pandemic.

The location is excellent, as you can walk anywhere. Acropolis, Syntagma, Plaka, and many restaurants are all within 20 minutes. I got a room with a queen and the bed was huge and comfortable. Lots of tv and a nice bathroom. I would definitely consider staying here again due to the price and location.

The area is older and might scare off some people, but it is also the reality of Athens and the people make it great.

A nice, small hotel in a perfect location away from the chacophony of Athens. In the morning you step outside and wander Plaka long before the shops open or the rest of the tourists descend. The hotel seems more like the hospitable Greece of old, not like a big, glitzy place that feels like any other hotel in any other city in the world. The small staff is always efficient and as friendly or as cool as the clientele. I've stayed there many times and just reserved rooms for another fall visit.

First recommended to us by a friend in Athens, we have stayed at the Nefeli two times. It is clean and cheap in a great location, walking distance to the center of Plaka and Monastiraki A decent breakfast is included, with good coffee. Rooms are small, bathrooms are remodeled, and the front desk is welcoming, except for the old man who has a Greek sense of humor and will pull your leg at the slightest provocation. So lighten up !! We love this place and will stay again.

We are a couple of Athenians now living abroad and returning to our home city for Christmas. We stayed at Nefeli for 10 nights and we had the best holiday ever at a very friendly price (£50 per night including breakfast). The room was basic but comfortable, double bed as requested, new mattress and pillows, additional heating by air-conditioning which we rarely used and a small fridge. The breakfast was original Greek with great yoghurt, koulouri (sesame bread hoop) with cheese and olives, fresh oranges and strong coffee. The staff was very friendly and reception open 24 hours. This is the best location to stay in the city. There is a traditional coffee shop around the corner 'Glykys' and all archaeological sites within walking distance. We will definitely return to Nefeli next year.

This was my first trip to Athens and I don't think I could have picked a better hotel to stay in .
Located in the vibrant and historic Plaka District ,the hotel is so nice ,checked in immediately by a very pleasant member of the hotel team ,my twin brother Stephen and I were allocated a twin room, two comfortable beds,tv,fridge ,lots of storage ,roomed cleaned daily ,fresh towels and soaps and shampoo's ,breakfast was a delight, fruit, cheese, eggs, bread, doughnuts, bread, toast ,jams with tea or coffee and fresh orange juice or water served by really nice staff ,location was amazing ,walking distance of many of the fine historic sites and in the immediate area around the hotel lots of cafés,pubs, bars and restaurants .
Staff in here are so nice ,they gave us a bottle of red wine which we were going to bring back to Liverpool but we left it in the fridge ,still a wonderful gesture .
We really enjoyed our weeks holiday in Athens, had a fantastic time and we loved our stay in this great hotel.

This small 2 Star Hotel is right in the centre of Athens near all the attractions restaurants and Bars.
Price per night was great value
Breakfast was served and more than enough to start the day.
The welcome by a man on reception made us feel like we were at home .
The staff on reception during the day and evening times were Spot on friendly and welcoming..
The room we had was spotless and quiet. The bathroom basic but adequate..
We really feel if you want comfort and friendliness this is the best place to stay in Athens.
Don't expect 5 star facilities expect better come here and you will get it in the form of feeling a genuine welcome.
We were given a bottle of Ouzo which was more than welcome.
We will recommend this great hotel to all our friends without any hesitation.

I stayed here about 7 years ago and remembered it. It's on the edge of the Plaka, near Syngagma Square - so you can take the airport bus and walk to the hotel. The rooms are adequate - mine had an orange tree outside the window. A good breakfast is included. Close to lots of restaurants and, of course, the Acropolis. I'll return on my next trip to Athens

Family owned. Clean, cozy, conveniently located with street parking and a parking garage nearby. It is walking distance to all the major sights. It is tucked just outside of the busy shop lanes. It includes free breakfast. It does have an elevator for one. Uses keys, not cards. Air conditioned. Friendly, helpful staff.

The Nefeli would be nice if the owners weren't so grumpy. The situation is good apart from the filthy derelict sight across the road with it's plethora of dozens of cats which make the area where the hotel is smell to high heaven. The breakfast is spartan and the woman serving is dour and austere. I disliked the whole experience of being there but it was convenient and less expensive than other over rated Athens hotels.
However I wouldn't stay there again. The plumbing was also in need of repair, the bathroom basin leaked onto the floor.
