We booked into this hotel for 6 nights. It is basic but really good value for money at €40 per night considering we were in the centre of Athens, the rooms are very clean and maintained every day. The thing that truly sets this place apart are the family that own it and the very helpful and polite staff. We...

The room was clean (every day cleaning) although the smell in the room didn't show that If you came to Athens only to rest at night and relax this hotel is not the appropriate one because it is located on one of the busiest streets in Athens and the noise is quite loud Nice view of the Pireos street A...

A clean, decent, budget hotel with helpful, friendly staff. The hotel is only few minutes away from Omonia Square metro stop. The area is fine in the day time, but not an area to walk alone late at night.

We stayed here 2 nights on way to Mykonos. We chose this place due to its location as we were using public transport from airport and again metro to Piraeus. The hotel is great for a budget hotel. The room was surprisingly big with little balcony - yes the bathrooms are a little on the small side but this hotel...

We were here for two nights at the end of our holiday. The surrounding area is a bit run down - but perfect safe - if you follow the usual safety procedures in a big city. The hotel was clean and basic but basically fine. Breakfast was bread yoghurt n coffee - ok - but nothing special. i would recommend...

Very easy to arrive by car to the hotel, next to which there is a relatively inexpensive parking (13 euros all day). Modern hotel with modern furniture and bathroom, TV and good WiFi signal. Very frendly staff at the front desk. Very small elevators (stuffy and too warm), poor insulation and is a lot of noise from the hallway and...

We had two nights here as stop over between the Greek islands and Albania. We were warned not to stay in Omonia by a few people but we like the area as a base for exploring. The hotel staff were very efficient and friendly and the reception is open 24 hours. Our room was clean and had everything we needed....

It's a very nice hotel. Pretty much clean except few hair I found in the bathroom. The location is great, it's minutes away from everything you need. But beware, the area is dangerous. I didn't have any problems but I have heard a lot of stories from people I met. The rooms are small but comfortable. The good thing is...

Staying in Omonia

Neighbourhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
