This is one of the most glorious hotels in Athens!

I decided to treat myself to a little bit of luxury on the back end of a serious work trip in very humble surroundings. If I only had 24 hours to see Athens, I wanted to be in the center of everything but also treated luxuriously.

The front desk was able to check me in very quickly and after I settled into my gorgeous room I was delighted to learn I was literally 200 feet away from THE Acropolis.

After a visit to the monumental site plus the museum across the street, I made my way through old Athens and through Plaka. I spent a number of hours going in and out of all the beautiful shops and then had a marvelous lunch on the Square.

Honestly, I spent the rest of the late afternoon and evening in my room and I cherish every moment of luxury. The breakfast was also spectacular with an incredible view. I will be coming back here to Greece again and will definitely make this my first hotel of choice.

The hotel has a handy location, right near the Acropolis, and the room was very quiet. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating, and while the room wasn’t large, the balcony and excellent air conditioning made up for it. (The graffiti-esque carpet is hideous, however.) And breakfast in the rooftop restaurant was a highlight of the trip.

Highlights

1) 7th Floor Restaurant was phenomenal! Breakfast had many choices and some of the best Acropolis Views in Athens

2) Shower had a rain head and made for a nice way to start and end the day

3) Room Size was spacious

4) it was our Honeymoon at the staff surprised us with Champagne and Brownie Cake

Challenges

1) Our Balcony Room really didn’t have much of a view (just some local balconies)

2) The elevator is TINY! Only can accommodate 2-3 people and is almost always occupied by staff.

3) Front Desk Assistance. We asked about a COVID Test for our return home and they recommended a taxi to the local hospital (10 min drive) . I thought this to be a little excessive and inquired about the local pharmacies and asked if they could call to help. They did and we found instead of a 10 min ride to a hospital we could get COVID tested less than a 5 min walk away

Overall

The Hotel is clean and comfortable with a great breakfast! I think for the price I would have expected a little more.

Dear rkoutso, Thank you for staying with us during your trip to Athens and sharing this experience with the online community of TripAdvisor. Regarding your remarks, I will start from the view you mentioned, and I will say that we have a variety of room types offering different facilities and features; the room type you selected provides a balcony with a patio view. The tiny lift has a maximum capacity of three people but kindly note that we are talking about a building of six floors and twenty-one rooms only. Furthermore, no further construction actions can take place due to location and the plethora of restrictions from the central archaeological council. Last but not least, from the beginning of the pandemic, our front office team has been handling a considerable number of requests from our guests about covid tests without issues or complaints. We have established collaboration with different hospitals and laboratories, providing incall and outcall covid tests to assist every enquiry we receive from our guests; therefore, I must admit your complaint surprised us. However, I apologise for any inconvenience we have caused you. On a positive note, we are glad to know that some of our facilities fulfilled your expectations. We remain at your disposal for any future requests. Best regards, Dimitris Drettakis General Manager

I am so very glad we chose AthensWas as our hotel for 3 nights. It was a truly wonderful expreince. From the start the service I received prior to arrival was second to none, with our driver waiting for us and the hotel being very understanding about fight cancallations by the airline. Our room overlooked the Acropolis which of course was magical. A lovely modern, well appointed double room with a balcony where you could sit and watch the sun go down. All the staff were so helpful and kind. The location is perfect, a few steps away from the Acropolis and the Museum it meant you could get a head start on the crowds in the morning. The other sights of ancient Athens are walking distance, and for us, we were happy to be outside the business/shopping district. It was quiet during the night and a wonderful breakfast menu awaited us each morning. Very, very highly recommended, we would for sure return.

Small boutique hotel with very attentive staff and outstanding view of the Acropolis from its excellent restaurant. From the get-go, we were received with a warm welcoming smile by Marisanti and Valantis. Due to early arrival, our room was being cleaned and we were directed to the top floor restaurant for coffee. Wow, what a view! We were in awe of the spectacular view of the Acropolis from the restaurant. The daily breakfast, served at the restaurant, included a quite diverse menu and the very attentive staff always provided great service. We received recommendations and advice from the front desk staff on a daily basis. Every day we were welcome back from our daily exploring with a smile. Other highlights were the cleanliness of the hotel and the balcony offering a great view of the daily Plaka crowd. Any time we had questions regarding our planned activities, every effort was made by the front desk staff to coordinate among the different shifts to follow up and provide us with the specific details or information. This special customer service gave us peace of mind and contributed to our outstanding experience during our April six-day stay.

AthensWas is a great, well-located hotel with spectacular views of the Acropolis from the rooms and restaurant. I stayed in a standard room which still had a view of the Acropolis and a roomy outdoor patio. My sister splurged on a suite on a higher floor with a better view and more room, including a kitchenette area. Both of us received a lovely chilled bottle of rose' in our rooms as a welcome treat. The hotel is just down the street from the fantastic Acropolis museum as well as the Acropolis itself. The Temple of Zeus and Arch of Hadrian are also steps away. Airport transfers arranged by the hotel were seamless. By far one of the best parts of the stay was the front desk staff member, Themis. He was efficient and knowledgable, gave us a great recommendation for a dinner spot and cheerfully answered our myriad questions and immediately fixed a few minor issues. He had such a cheerful demeanor and dry wit and kept us laughing and smiling throughout the stay.

Location is awesome. Staff are fabulously friendly and helpful. Room was roomy and comfortable. This is truly one of the best boutique hotels we have stayed in across Europe.
The view from the breakfast area of the Acropolis is spectacular and the food made you want to stay and eat all day. The staff person at breakfast makes you feel so comfortable and not rushed.
The hotel staff gave us great dinner ideas for local favorites.
This hotel alone makes me want to come back to Athens.

We stayed here only one night as we arrived from America before going on to Crete. The location is superb, located in a pedestrian only neighborhood just under the Acropolis. We had an amazing rooftop deck with a direct view of the Parthenon. The deck was enormous and hosted lounge furniture and a dining table where we were able to have snacks and champagne upon arrival. The service was top notch, we did not wait long for anything and the staff even accommodated a special request (earlier than usual) breakfast order the following morning so we could eat prior to travel.

The AthensWas even hosts a rooftop restaurant with the same fantastic Acropolis view. We have stayed in one other location in Athens on a prior trip, however, the AthensWas won our hearts, highly recommend.

We recently stayed there for 2 nights, as we wanted to spend a few days in Athens before heading to the island. The hotel is beautiful, with a modern design aesthetic, both in its common areas and the rooms, which are very well thought out. One of the hotel’s best features is probably its locations, on Dionysius Aeropagitou, one of the most beautiful pedestrian streets in downtown Athens, only a few steps from the Irodeion Odeon, the Acropolis museum, and the Athens National Gardens (the city’s version of Central Park). It’s right next to Plaka and Monastiraki, too touristy I know, but you can’t really miss them either while in Athens, and just around the corner from the Acropolis museum. Service was superb, and was able to transfer us to a new room immediately when they were unable to fix an air-conditioning problem, offered superb suggestions for what to do on our time in Athens. Big plus the rooftop restaurant (this is where you will be having their spectacular breakfast) that is not to be missed, whether you are staying at the hotel or not, if only for the spectacular views of Parthenon. 5-star experience overall, would happily stay there again.
