Conveniently situated for port of Piraeus, ideal for short stay. Bedrooms clean with good facilities, breakfast adequate with lots of choice. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. We had to stay unexpectedly due to flight cancellations back to UK, but would certainly stay here again, if circumstances arise.
One problem - mentioned by previous reviewers, bedrooms do need sound proofing, especially if neighbours are noisy and inconsiderate. Also tea, coffee making facilities would be nice in room and perhaps a small fridge to keep bottled water.

Argo Anita is a budget hotel in Pireus, but can be a smart choice, if you're not willing to pay extra cost for staying in Athen. Athen downtown is just 15 minutes by car, but Pireus center is just steps from the hotel.
Th accomodation is nothing special, but correct, clean, and have a free parking, and good wifi. Perfect for some overnight before you go to the islands.
My negative impression was my first room that I get. I dont't know why, but the recepcionist gave me the worst room in the hotel - small, dark, no window. After my complain, I got a correct room with balcony, I really don't understand, why do they want me to have a bed experience in a really pre-season, when the city and the hotel was almost empty!

We chose this hotel for the prime reasoning that we could be there for less than 10hrs. Having got a late ferry from Hydra and 0700 departure the next day we wanted something cheap and cheerful and this was it.

It fitted the bill perfectly. It was easy to find from the harbour (especially from gates 8/9) The walk was 6mins. Check-in was extremely easy. Rooms were modern, clean and spacious. Bathroom adequate. Reception is staffed 24hrs a day.

Bad points. Useless Wifi (despite being in Athens) we never got it connected.
Award transfer to our room via steps and a small lift.

Would you want to spend more than a few days here possibly not but on a budget it would suit well.

Being passing through Athens from other island for work reasons, I have often stayed in this hotel and have always found a kind and attentive stuff. I happened to pass through those parts in the morning a couple of weeks ago and having to go to a nearby shop to duplicate a car key before leaving, I asked the receptionist if I could leave my car for a few minutes in the (empty) car park hotel. This lady (named Katerina) was very rude. She practically answered me with a peremptory 'no!' before I finished the question. Then in an aggressive and rude way, without even looking at me, she continued the monologue by telling me that since she didn't authorize me to park the car I had to leave the hotel. I was literally speechless. I will not go to this hotel again, with great regret.

Good location for catching the ferries to islands. Clean, pleasant people at the desk, small breakfast buffet. Currently some areas/rooms are being renovated, but no noise in the evenings. Elevator is very, very small (1 person with 2 pieces of luggage or 2 people no luggage). It was great to be out of the chaos of Athens in the evening. Easy access to metro.

Ideal for getting off bus from airport and close to ferry port for trips to the islands. Very clean with complimentary toiletries. Reception area safe and covid aware. Friendly and helpful staff. Will stay here again.

Excellent location for ferry terminals to the Greek islands. Just over 10 minutes easy walk from the gates.
Clean and adequate rooms with compact and comfortable balconies.
Also easy walk down to the marina with its many shops, cafes and restaurants.

I did a trip to Athens in mid April on a shoe string budget. I used Hostelworld to book Hotel Anita. After reading hotel reviews I went in trepidation, but was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and quietness of the the location of the hotel. If the staff were a little more friendly I would have rated this hotel as excellent. The only drawback as far as location goes is that it is about 20 -30 mnts away from Athens. Still it is quite close to the bus and train stations, so it wasn't a major problem. We had our breakfast in a little taverna on the way to the train station. You can get eggs, coffee, sausages and a slice of tomatoe, cucumber and an olive for about Eur 3-4. There is also a corner bakery very near the hotel where you can pick up pizzas and pies, for a very reasonable price. They also pack it for you in a small box that you can carry with you. This will save you money when you feel hungry at the sites, as the sandwiches are more than double the price at these places.Sunday is a good day to do the site seeing, as everything is free on that day, but unfortunately one cannot cover everything in one day. The entry tickets are valid for 4 days anyway, and are very reasonably priced. If you want to travel around Greece, the best thing to do is use public transport. They are very good and very cheap. This will save you mints of money. Site seeing tour prices are very inflated. Just to give an example, a tour to Cape Sounion fromAthens is EUr 32 /person, but we spent only EUR 8/person going by bus.A word of warning. Try to avoid the rush hours to travel in trains. There are pickpockets with very deft fingers. It's worth missing a few trains to get to your estination more safely.

I just stayed here for one night before leaving the port of pireaus. really handy spot to the port and the city. the hotel even faxed me decent directions as to how to find them after taking the number 96 bus from the airport and when we arrived the staff were more than helpful. breakfast is basic but will keep you going and the staff will try and transfer you to your next location as best as possible. a real bargain i thought.

Hotel Argo is the reason I will never return to Athens. My experience there was so abhorrent and distasteful that I doubt I will be able to step foot in the city again. First, the pictures featured on the website are very misleading. In regards to location, as of April 2006 the hotel is located down a back alley next to a construction site. The featured photo must have been taken two feet from the front door looking directly up. This alley is located in a rather seedy area of Pireaus, and is completely vacant of shopping and restaurants within walking distance (believe me you won’t want to walk in the area alone at night). In regards to the room, they are small, small, small. On the topic of accommodations, upon our arrival we discovered that the beds were not made up. They simply had pillows placed on them, and an adjoining closet containing one white sheet and a duvet fit for a twin size bed, we had a double bed. The bathroom was so small we could not use the toilet without our knees simultaneously hitting the sink. The screen (yes screen) door to bathroom did not shut completely, and the shower curtain was so small we enjoyed at least three inches of water on the floor after each bathing. Using the term ‘amenities’ in any description of Hotel Argo is silly. We were given fresh towels twice in five days. The hotel contains a small bar rarely staffed with a bartender and does not have food service. However, the attitude and service of the hotel employees far surpasses any of these problems. The hotel demands that you leave your key each time you leave the hotel which becomes quite tiring as the front desk employees are frequently absent. Further, the hotel staff demanded (not asked, demanded) that we take care of our bill the morning before we left. We politely stated we would settle everything upon our departure the following morning. When we did check out, we found our bill riddled with extra charges. When we confronted the manager, he promptly flew into screaming rage, called us liars concerning the charges, and screamed that he knew we ‘were trouble when he first saw us’, I was traveling with my husband, a Professor, two colleagues of his, both Professors, who happen to be travel writers on the side… we could not have been a more subdued group. After a full half-hour of the manager screaming at us, we signed our credit card slip (minus the false charges) and waited for our cab outside in the alley to avoid any further confrontation. Upon arriving home, we discovered that the manager and run our credit card number again for the false charges, we are now disputing those charges with Visa. I beg you, AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.
