This was my second visit to this wonderful spa resort - it was indeed as enchanting as the first. The staff were amazingly attentive at all times, nothing was too much trouble. The cuisine is on point at every mealtime the suite was impeccably clean and gardens kept beautifully manicured. I had wonderful relaxing stay and cannot wait to return!
This was not our first visit to St. Nicolas Bay Resort. But alas, this is the perfect place for a first post-pandemic holiday. Staff feels more like a family members you're returning to. Everything is meticulously taken care of. The resort blends with the sea and the private beach. We enjoyed swimming in the crystal-clear water. We found wonderful private spaces to watch sunrises and sunsets, and also a full moon candle light dinner directly next to the Mediterranean Sea. Breakfast and Dinner are very tasty and reflect greek cuisine. Everything feels spacious enough to feel safe and healthy. Travel from Germany was easily manageable and we'll certainly be back later this year.
I cannot say enough about how fabulous this resort is!! The grounds and views are breathtaking, the food was spectacular, and the rooms were clean and spacious. BUT the most impressive part of this resort (and that is a high bar) was the service. From the maids to the waiters and waitresses to the concierge (truly exceptional!!) to the management. Truly 5 star and top notch service!! We arrived without any plans and the concierge staff put together 4 days of incredible tours!!! Truly a magical place that I will be encouraging all my friends and family to go to. I didn’t want to leave!!
A friend and I stayed here in October 2021 and had a fantastic time. Food and service were both outstanding. The hotel managed to make breakfast buffet service COVID-safe but still have plenty of choice. Delicious drinks (especially the negronis) and evening meals, all the dining options are great. Everywhere was so clean, calm and well-appointed. Spa massage was luxurious and relaxing. Special thanks to Alex for looking after me and my friend Elena.
We don’t often leave trip advisor reviews but our stay at the St Nicolas Bay has been one of the best holidays we’ve had down to how stunning this property is, how beautiful Crete is & the staff at the property. We stayed here 8th - 15th September for our babymoon in a sea view suite room 214 and wow, what a stay! The room was beautifully designed & had 2 spacious bathrooms, a living room with separate bedroom & a large balcony with an incredible view! You can lay in bed and watch the sun rise over the sea in the mornings - stunning. Breakfast was situated in a beautiful setting by the pool - you order your main breakfast (omelette, eggs, crepe etc) from a menu and then can use the buffet inside for bread, croissants, fresh fruit, cooked bits etc. too. The service was amazing - special mention to Linda & Eleni who were so friendly, served everyone with the biggest smile & got to know us very well on our holiday - talked about how my bump was growing nicely & their families. Just little things like that can really make a holiday so thank you ladies! Vaggeaus was also always at breakfast, he didn’t serve us much as Linda was always on it but we wanted to give him a shout out because he was such a sweet man topping everyone’s drinks up and constantly checking you were ok & if you needed anything. The pool area is beautiful & views are incredible! Recommend bagging a pool bed before breakfast as they go fast & have the best views! And shoutout to the lady that cleans the toilets down from the pool next to the blue bay restaurant (sorry I didn’t get her name!). She literally spends the whole day in their freshening them up after almost every use! She’s so friendly and attentive & even behind her mask could tell she always had the biggest smile on her face liked she loved her job. Being pregnant, I was in there almost every 20 minutes so think we got to know each other well! 😂 The bars & restaurants were all in beautiful settings with incredible views & plenty to choose from on the menus. We stayed half board dine around which meant to you got a credit towards the a la cartes (32euro pp I think) - it is worth it if you’re planning to use them at least 4 times. Any less then I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. Minotaura & Greek are amazing so definitely worth a visit! To note - absolutely everything is table service in the restaurants, even the buffets (breakfast & dinner) you order your main from a menu and can help yourself to the starter at the small buffet - nice touch! Dora was another shining star to look out for, she seemed to be everywhere we were - worked in the day at the blue bay restaurant & then again in the main bar/restaurants always with a big smile on her face & couldn’t do enough for you. We were pleasantly surprised to see so much of the hotel manager himself walking around the resort on a daily basis greeting guests & checking they’re having a good time. We’ve not seen this nearly as much in any other hotel we’ve stayed in - he would be there at most breakfasts, often popped to the blue bay restaurant at lunch & then made his way around the restaurants at night meaning sometimes it seemed like he was doing 12+ hour days - very dedicated! He wouldn’t hassle, just a gentle ‘good morning/evening, I hope you’re enjoying your stay? Enjoy the rest of your meal’ etc and would move onto the next table. Very nice to see he had a real presence at the hotel & a genuine interest in checking guests were ok. In the evenings we would go for a drink at the main bar above minotaura restaurant (which is well worth a visit! The tempura prawns, duck & steak are all delicious!!). The bar tender Michalis would serve us and you can tell he absolutely loves his job and has been there 15+ years! He’s always one step ahead of you & has the bill ready the second you get up. He also gets to know you/your habits & what you like to drink and goes out of his way to make everything perfect for you, much like all of the staff here to be honest! Finally, a special mention to Nicos Demetzos, the front office manager, he greeted us when we first arrived, treated us like his friends & had so much energy you couldn’t not smile being around him. His enthusiasm was electric & it set us off on the best start to our holiday - he took us on a very quick tour of the hotel & then to our room and then left us to settle in. He was always around reception and would go out of his way for every single guest. You can see meeting & greeting guests means everything to him - a real delight to meet! Our only improvement would be for the hotel to play some gentle background music at the main pool during the day, perhaps just chilled Greek music for a couple of hours, 12-4 maybe? Just to help set that atmosphere. Thank you st. Nicolas Bay, it was a pleasure & we will certainly be recommending your hotel to anyone looking to go to Crete. We hope to stay with you again soon.…
We recently had the pleasure of staying and getting married at this wonderful hotel. Planning wedding at any time is stressful, but planning it 3 times due to COVID delays is even worse but Alex and his team were a constant source support and reassurance. After 2 years of email we finally arrived at the hotel for our wedding and honeymoon and we were blown away by the warm welcome from Nicos, Marena and Alex who later invited us to meet him for a welcome drink. The hotel is beautiful and we were upgraded to the most stunning suit. However it is the staff and the sprit of the hotel that really makes it feel special. Everyone makes you feel part of the St Nicolas Bay Family. From Alex and Marena leading the way to Nicos at front of house who has been there over 35 years to Vagalis, and Vasilis delivering the friendliest service in the various restaurants, the most pleasant room service from George and Kristos, drinks with Yannis at the Astra bar and Eleni and her team at the spa. They they all looked after us with the utmost care. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the St Nicolas team. On our wedding day, they took care of everything and even arranged some extra special surprises that I will treasure forever. Walking round the hotel with Alex and the guitar players and dancing with him the night after in particular. So, more about the details of the hotel. It's set in a quiet, idyllic location with a gated entry which emits luxury and exclusivity. Everything at the hotel has been carefully thought out. From the artwork and lounge areas to beautiful dining locations and luxurious rooms the interior design is modern, elegant and welcoming. The food is wonderful. I am vegan foodie and each night there was a range of different foods for me to try and if I wanted anything special, that was no problem. Although I think I would be happy eating their fava every night! On the last night a special meal was organised for us courtesy of Alex and no expense was spared in time given or food. The Jazz band was even told to learn our wedding song. They really are that thoughtful. I genuinely felt sad when we came to leave. I felt like I was leaving old friends that I will definitely see again. Thank you again to wonderful hotel and a wonderful group of people for making the whole stay so special.…
We arrive and are greeted by the reception staff and, of course, the ever present Nicos with his special warm welcome that we have come to look forward to. From then on our days just get more relaxing due entirely to the constant attention of Konstantinos and the entire team. Everyone deserves a mention but we cannot write a review without special thanks to young Michalis, and the slightly younger Yannis who manage to start and end each evening with a smile. Thanks to you all Dirk and Chris
We attended St Nicolas Bay for 2 weeks in October having been to stay there 3 times previously. A classy hotel where the staff do everything to help make your stay comfortable and simple. The reasons we return are several but mainly because we like the staff friendliness, we love the sea front area which is good for bathing and snorkelling with water sports, and we love the hotel layout and rooms (reminiscent of a Greek village). We would give high praise to the reception staff and particularly Nicos, the Front Office Manager who ensures your stay is perfect. Nicos arranged a hire car for us delivered to the hotel within only 10 minutes of asking for one. Also Yannis, who in the Astra Bar mixes a great drink in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Alexandros, the hotel manager was courtesous and always visible and left gifts such as wine, fruit, pastries and Cretan delicacies in your room at regular intervals during our stay which were welcomed and thoughtful. Some key points: Really good and comfy sunbeds with mattresses, towels always available, good and varied food selections for breakfast and dinner, taxis available quickly, 20 minute walk into Agios Nicolas, Kids Club, private beach, watersports, Minotaur restaurant is themed set menu with entertainment, some good local restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute walk away but not necessary if you're half boarding.…
Once again we spent a wonderful, unforgettable time at St. Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel on Crete - a time full of relaxation, tranquility and valuable encounters. We can only recommend this hotel in a fantastic location! Everything is perfect! Our special thanks go to the area managers Nicos and Konstantinos as well as to the whole service team who fulfilled all our wishes. All of them contributed to our well-being in their lovable and special way! Efcharisto! Antio kai ta leme syntoma! Theresia und Erika
A very nice stay in this charming place at one of the nicest Cretean seaside ("Mirabello bay"). A luxury hotel without snobism and useless sophistication. Very nice and friendly staff, always dedicated to do the utmost for us. Special mention to Nicos Demetzos and his front office team, and to the General manager, always present at any time of the day and taking the customers' pulse at each and every moment. Two recommendations for improvement would be to offer a more elaborated and diverse Greek cooking experience at the daily dinners, and to install a heating device to keep the swimming pool water temperature at a minimum level in Autumn... However, we'll be back as soon as possible!
