Lovely hotel with spectacular views. Location is a short walk to the main area. Hilly if you have walking difficulties but worth it for the views. Very clean and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy but basic room with a fantastic view from the balcony. Nice pools with plenty of space and no problem getting a sunbed at any of the pools. Water in the pool was freezing in June. Nice little beach just outside with a small selection of tavernas. We were half board and the quality of the food was very good although we did eat out a lot as there are some fabulous tavernas in the area. The service was excellent and the staff so lovely. Drinks were just OK, cocktails poor for the prices. We loved the hotel but we were disappointed with evening entertainment, one chap playing old fashioned music on a piano each night for a few hours. Very very quiet evenings and early nights at the hotel but only a short taxi ride into town for a more lively night out.

The Miramare Resort and Spa was first class from start to finish. We arrived quite late in the evening, but they had kept the restaurant open for us, with a good choice of hot food available. The staff at reception were very welcoming, I didn’t get their names, but one had long dark hair and wore glasses, and the other lady had curly hair, and had done a degree in Cardiff university. Our room was lovely with a great sea view, and overlooking the lower of the pools, it was easier to get out from there than it would have been if we’d been higher up in the resort, although there seemed to be buggies available. If you have mobility issues I’d check which rooms would suit you better, there is quite a steep walk down from the hotel, but we did discover a set of steps at the side which was easier going. The food at breakfast and dinner was good, with plenty of choice, as we stayed for a fortnight, and it was not repetitive. A special mention has to go to Elpida, who was so nice to us at breakfast and dinner, and went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our table. Also, I’d like to mention the bar manager Manolito, who again, looked after us very well , as we sat and had a drink most evening on the terrace bar, which has a fab view. The resort itself is lovely with many areas to discover, but it is a good twenty minute walk from the hotel, taxis apparently cost 7euros., so you have to bear this in mind. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We where two couples staying at Miramare. We booked at the same time and with the same price our rooms. We wished for rooms next to each other and they got that for us which made our stay even more pleasant. The rooms was a lot different, one a bit bigger (or the layout made it feel like it) with a big pool, the other pool was just a tiny square. But for us it didn’t matter, because we hung out at our friends place. We had with a view over the beach. The beach itself was lovely with a funny beach lady. The service was exellent. We booked with only breakfast included. It was okay. I would have liked to have more to choose from, not only ten different ways of egg etc. And the AC was non existent so we had a hard time enjoying breakfast. We just ate and left, it was terrible hot. So if you stay during summer time, get up a bit early while it’s still cool. Keep in mind it’s a big hotel so it is a lot of people during breakfast rush. I would recommend this hotel! It is a steep uphill climb if you walk back to the hotel from town, but when do you avoid them in Crete?!😉

This is a great hotel in a lovely location. There were lots of positives: beautiful views, great food, comfortable bed, plenty of sun beds, very clean. These are the things that really matter and I really enjoyed my four night stay. There were a few little things that could have made my stay even better though: I asked for one extra hand towel for my room and although my request was met, the initial reaction at reception was quite negative. It’s a little thing; I was surprised it was treated as an outrageous request. The pool towel was provided in the room rather than at the pool and was so threadbare it just looked cheap. I appreciate that not changing them every day is better for the planet but this just felt like something that could make the hotel feel a higher quality. My room adjoined one of the hotel lifts; it wasn’t too noisy but given that I’d especially requested a quiet room, it was a shame… especially as it was also just across from the room used by the cleaning staff which was also a bit noisy.

Most previous replies have covered all viewpoints. We spent one week there on a half-board basis earlier this month. The hotel has lovely views over the sea as it's built on a hillside. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We arrived in the early hours but weren't given any food like some reviewers - we were given only a bottle of water. The restaurant had food for all tastes - the breakfast selection in particular, was the best I've had in many visits to Greek islands. The drawback for me was the 'hike' to and from Agios Nikolaos, especially on the return leg when the steep incline on the approach to the hotel was tiring in the heat. There is no local bus service near the hotel so a 15-20 minute walk into Agios is obligatory for any shopping or social life, although there are a couple of small bars en route to Agios. There are 3 swimming pools with bars, a gym and spa and an a-la- carte restaurant at the hotel for those who prefer finer dining. Miramare is an ideal venue for a restful holiday in the sun.

The one word to describe this place is amazing, we got to the hotel at 2am and the young gentleman took us to get some food which was really nice, all of the staff were amazing and super friendly all the time, you couldn't have asked for anything better, the hotel is beautiful and up to date very in keeping with scenery and the town its self, everything was around a 15 minuite walk for us which was great, the locals were also super friendly and genuine happy to help in anyway, the town is gorgeous again you couldn't ask for anything better for a family holiday. I would highly recommend this place to everyone and we will definitely be back.

We've just returned from Family October half term holiday at Miramare and have had an amazing holiday, Travelled with 2 teenagers and stayed half board. We were allocated a newly refurbished room which was excellent and comfortable. The hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff were welcoming and pleased to assist and serve you. The hotel is on a hill with the first 150yards up the driveway being the worst but after this you can walk up steps and take lifts and short cuts to avoid the worst inclines around the hotel. There are a few minor improvements that feel need to be changed as follows, Breakfast choice and quality is excellent Evening Meal - quality is good but choice and variety needs improving. There was always Pork & Bolognese on the menu but on themed nights such as Italian Night there was only Magherita Pizza & Pasta offered and the rest was very much the same as previous evenings. I'd have expected a better choice of Pizza/Pasta and garlic bread etc . Equally on Mexican evenings there were no wraps which was a disappointment . We enjoyed the food but if your travelling with kids under 10/12years the variety /isn't great and needs an kids area buffet or food that would be more suited for younger kids. Beach - We visited the beach twice which was great but surprised on the price on 2 sunbeds & Parasol being 10euros for ones reserved for Miramare guests use when the grey sunbeds and parasol adjacent to these for public use are only 8 euros. I don't mind paying but think as guests of the hotel the charge should be a smaller nominal charge and certainly not dearer than the ones for public use. Votsalo Cafe Bar is only 150 yards away from hotel and this is great beech bar to enjoy evening drinks for lunchtime snacks Its good to see the hotel are refurbishing the rooms having read previous reviews and this was ongoing during our stay. All in all we had a great holiday with the weather making it for us and would certainly return

We just arrived home after an amazing 7 day stay in one of the villas. The villa was spotlessly clean & had everything that we needed ( including a washing machine - so one less job for me to do when I get home ) Everyone was so friendly- this is my second stay here & will definitely be visiting again x

Amazing view from room, which was small but had everything we needed. Food excellent, even for this vegetarian. Pools always had sun loungers available, and plenty of options to seek shade from the bright Mediterranean sun. Reception staff very helpful whenever approached. Great book exchange area - drop off your finished paperback and pick up a replacement read.
