I don't know how this hotel can get less than a 5 star review. The management and staff should give seminars to other hotels on what it means to provide "customer service". My wife and I were impressed with every aspect of this hotel. We stayed at the hotel from 9/10/2002 to 9/16/2022.
-FIrst...the staff. So warm, friendly, and seemed to enjoy doing whatever they could to make our stay perfect. They were all so knowledgeable about Chania and recommend the perfect restaurants and beaches. I can't say enough about the entire staff.
-Effortless-The hotel took care of all of the arrangements for cabs to and from the airport (approx. 30 euros each way)as well as the arrangements for a rental car. I was concerned about parking but for 10 euros/day the hotel offered valet service. Well worth the money for peace of mind.
-Breakfast-amazing and well suited to any type of diet (keto, vegetarian, vegan, etc). Everything was really delicious.
-The Bed----Ahhhhh...if my wife and I hadn't spent a considerable amount of $$ for our current bed, the hotel bed is the one I would purchase. We each had an incredible night sleep.
-The room was great and extremely comfortable.
-Location -couldn't be better. Just a few minutes from the Port. But, it was also nice to walk around the neighborhood where the locals live and shop.(away from the tourists).

I hope the management gets to read this. I personally would like to express my thanks for an amazing stay in your country. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

I'm not sure what I can say...from 5 weeks before I arrived and needed to book a taxi, they were on hand to organise it. Nothing was too much trouble from even before I arrived. Upon arrival I was met by 2 very friendly staff members both wearing either masks or face shields. The lobby was spotless. Check in was a breeze and so efficient. My stay being during Covid, the porter let me get in the first lift and then got in the second lift by himself with my bag to ensure we were not in close proximity to each other. Breakfast is an extremely flexible affair, from 7 to 11am so even if you're planning an early morning boat trip (as I did) or out late the night before and need a late bite (which I also did) everything was catered for! All tables were outside and separated and it's table service for everything. What can I say about the food except it's DELISH! No greasy fry ups, good hearty food with a mix of Greek in it. FYI order the Cretan scrambled egg it's top notch. There's no fighting for sunbeds or possessive towel laying from 6am in the morning as the sunbeds are only put out after breakfast at 11am so everyone has a fair chance. Sunbeds all separated too. I was a solo traveler but I was never made to feel awkward or in the way. The staff were helpful, made me feel right at home offered drinks and food and were there all throughout the day if I ever needed anything. The hotel gives you freshly laundered towels in a bag before going out to the pool. The pool is magnificent also. Fantastic suntrap. While I never tried the dinner in the restaurant, the cocktails were superb! The hotel is literally a 5 minute walk from the lighthouse and all the bars, places to eat and shops. It's the perfect location. All the staff were incredible, I have nothing negative to say about any aspect of my trip except that I had to leave after a week and that I didn't book two weeks! I will be back in 2021, probably around May or June and I will be staying at this hotel for sure. It's a gem right in the city center. Thanks for such an amazing stay and thank you for making me feel so welcome as a solo traveler. Not many places have mastered how to deal with solo travelers but this place has it down to a T.

I have stayed in many nice, luxurious hotels across the world and this one trumps them all.
A mere stroll from the city of Xania or the bus station (A popular drop of point) and this little slice of heaven awaits.
Clearly caterering for a business clientele it serves all needs more than comfortably.
At check in I was offered a warm welcome and a free upgrade.
Upon entering my spacious and tastefully appointed room, I was met with complimentary Rakia and a local treats platter.
Breakfast was the best and most extensive I'd been offered in Greece and the service from both Cassos (a clear family man who remembered both my name and order from day one of my stay) and Despina (friendly and sociable staff member always aiming to please the guest) was faultless.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Both the Hansa rain shower and the extra large, extra comfy bed were the best I had ever experienced in hotels across the globe.
Upon leaving I was given a complimentary late check out, greeted with a fruit platter and bottle of local wine and the offer to spend the rest of the afternoon by the pool.
The housekeeping was impeccable as was the service from all staff. Nothing was too much trouble to ask at anytime.
I split my stay with another hotel in Xania that cost more than the Samarian so I could compare the two and it was a decision I later regretted.
You can not go wrong with this hotel and I will not hesitate to recommend this establishment, it's staff and personally look forward to returning.

Had a wonderful 10 day stay at this hotel.

Rooms are very plesant with everything
you need. The rooms are clean & finished to a high standard.
The hotel is in the perfect location with all the resturants/ bars within a very short walk. In terms of traveling to places outside the old town we used the bus service which is right behind the hotel - fantastic location. These buses take you to many locations including all the popular beaches as well as the airport which means you dont have to spend a fortune on taxis . The buses are very reasonably priced.
The breakfast at the hotel is absolutely perfect. A great variety of fresh food & juices. Couldnt fault it ! Variety of both hot & cold breakfast with some changes each day. The coffee is personally made for you by the staff and brought to you ( no coffee machines yay ). Even prosecco which is a lovely touch !
The staff are wonderful - Super friendly and provide great service. They go above and beyond. Each morning they welcome you when entering the room for breakfast. They all seem very hardworking & are a real assit to the hotel. The cleaning team also do a wonderful job - I hope the staff all get praised for the great job they do ! Thank you !!

Ps the hot chocolate tart is to die for

We spent four nights at this hotel and it checked all the boxes on guaranteeing a delightful stay in Chania. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and had a fruit basket and a bottle of wine awaiting us in our room. Our room was comfortable with a balcony overlooking the street. Although the hotel is right next door to the bus station (convenient for us as we took a bus from Heraklion to Chania) you would never know it.

It is an easy walk to the Venetian Port and Old Town which we enjoyed exploring at various times during the day and evening. I took advantage of the pool every afternoon as the weather cooperated with our stay - bright, sunny, in the 70's. Nice to relax in a lounge chair with a glass of wine after a swim. The friendly front desk gentleman recommended a couple of nearby beaches (they will supply you with beach towels) and we decided on Nea Chora - a 20 minute walk from the hotel. An umbrella and 2 lounges was 5 euros and the crowd was a nice mix of locals and tourists.

Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of offerings and all COVID provisions were adhered to. The lobby had a nicely decorated sitting area with a library of art books which I was able to borrow during my stay (disinfected after use) There was even a piano player one evening although no one was in the lobby. I imagine pre and post COVID it would be more lively.

I hope to explore Crete more extensively on another trip and will definitely come back to Chania and the Samaria.

We stayed at Chania for our honeymoon for a week and we decided to book the Samaria hotel after reading great reviews!
Wow, what an awesome hotel!
All the staff provided the best customer service, nothing was ever too much trouble and we annoyed them alot but asking for local recommendations and they also helped us hire a car.
The rooms were very clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable.
The breakfast every morning was honestly the best I've.ever had at hotel. Everything was fresh and they had full buffet breakfast that included bacon , eggs, mushrooms sausages etc as well as all you want for a continental breakfast, juices, pastries, antipasti etc.
Location was also perfect with only a 5-10 min walk to the old town!
Highly recommend, 5 stars 👌

Our decision to choose the Samaria Hotel was largely based on the excellent reviews it had already received. Our experience was similarly positive. It's a very well-run hotel beside the city bus station (which makes it a great location for anyone intending to travel around Crete by public transport). The customer service was outstanding in every respect and, as so many other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast was truly superb. I have no hesitation in recommending it. If we return to Chania, which we hope, this is where we will stay.

I'm in the hotel business and I was impressed by this hotel. The location is tops, walking distance to everything yet quiet. Staff is very friendly, room well equipped and a very good breakfast. There's even piano entertainment in the lobby. And yes, they'll park your car and bring it to you for just 8 euros a day. Incredible value. Also, they have a changing room so if you want to check out and then come back from the beach and shower and change, you're all set (they store your luggage.

This is the best place that I have ever dealt with. Reservation were extremely accommodating especially with the ever changing in personnel. Emails were always answered promptly. This is a top notch hotel. The people that checked us in were extremely friendly and really helpful. There is a bar next to the front desk on your left and an all inclusive breakfast located in behind the front desk over and around to the right. They have a swimming pool and gym facility. There is a parking for a small daily fee. Rooms were very clean and spacious and also have balconies. Room would get a clean daily unless you put the no disturb sign.
The food in the restaurant is really good and totally affordable. The waitresses are friendly and will help clear up any questions you may have.
Hotel is located a 5 - 10 minute walk from the old town. Several restaurant located on or near the waterfront. TAMAM, Charlika Ramezzo are some of the place we frequented while we were there. TAMAM is down the alley by the STARBUCKS Cafe, Charlika located on water front pass Ramezzo and Barbarossa restaurant. There is a great Gyros place at the opposite corner. Several coffee shops and 2 Bakeries. Also shopping district just pass the park. The skies is the limit.

The best experience with the greatest staff.

We were so delighted with the welcoming, professional, unobtrusive vibe in this smart central hotel. A ten minute walk from everything and right next to the bus station (you'd never know it), so no need to hire a car if you want to take any trips anywhere. Rooms are spacious, clean and the hotel is very well managed. The reception staff were always on hand with helpful tips of asked and the restaurant staff were charming and hospitable at breakfast. Price was reasonable.

There is a small pool and the surrounding area is very limited. The pool doesnt open until 1100 as they use the terrace for breakfast. If you are not there at 1100 or shortly thereafter you will not get a sunbed.
