2023 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
La Maison Ottomane combines the comforts of an elegant boutique hotel with the relaxed informality of a luxury guest house. Inspired by the opulence of Ottoman rule, it is filled with fine antiques, paintings, carpets and porcelain, scents from Marrakech, silks and sweet delicacies from Istanbul.. High-speed wifi, complimentary use of tablet computers, wireless printing and that rare Chania asset of private parking, help us support the business and leisure traveller to a high level of comfort.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Chania is a lovely place with plenty to see and do in the old town. La Maison Ottomane is in a great spot. Its in a quiet and private street and yet its just a minute or 2 walk from the harbour with its restaurants and bars. The rooms themselves are beautiful, with a lot of interesting art and antique furniture. The best reason to stay at La maison Ottomane however, is the hosting. Andreas and Alexandro were very impresive hosts. Andreas gave us lots of advice on things to see and on which restaurants were worth a visit in the area while Alex looked after us very well and her breakfasts are delicious. They both went beyond the call of duty to help us out with any problems and we missed them when we came back home.

We stayed for 5 nights in this beautiful 3 bedroom b&b right in the heart of the old town. The attention to detail, immaculately clean rooms was a true delight. Excellent, varied and freshly cooked breakfasts added to our pleasure whilst sitting in the pretty courtyard. Alexandra and Andreas could not do enough for you and it was very much like being welcomed into their own home. You can walk easily around the delightful old town...highly recommend!

Very pleasant stay, the service is great (Alexandra is very nice). In our terrace we received the visit of a very sweet cat and became BFF(lol). If, by any chance, you stay there please take good care of her.

As challenging as it was navigating the narrow old streets of Chania, we found La Maison Ottomane relatively easily thanks to the precise directions given us beforehand from the hotel in email. A note on the reception door addressed to us led us to our room upstairs - Aisha. As we were getting our bags from the car in the adjacent parking space, Alex arrived on her bicycle and greeted us warmly, offering us a welcome drink, and assisting us with the bags. Our room was lovely and beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed, a sofa and a lovely bathroom area behind the bed. We also had a private terrace overlooking the hotel courtyard where a delicious breakfast was served by Alex each morning. The sfakian pie was so good! We met the charming Andreas on our first morning and he very kindly gave us his recommendations for dinner and we were not disappointed! The accommodation is located a short walk to all of the sights of old town Chania.I would certainly stay here again if we were to return to Crete in the future.

In 2019, after visiting Chania for over 30 years we discovered La Maison Ottomane. Since then we have been back every year, at least once. This hotel really is something special. Taking the world famous Greek hospitality reputation to new levels, I can guarantee you will feel spoiled rotten at this pretty, boutique hotel. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble for your hosts Andreas and Alexandra. You will enjoy an amazing and freshly prepared breakfast in the Courtyard garden, under the shade of a huge palm tree. Despite it's proximity to the bustling harbour, the hotel is in a quite street, just a five minute walk from all lively restaurants. La Maison Ottomane can boast the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, so you can be assured of a great night's sleep. The car park is a very much appreciated facility and a rare find in the old town. I can highly recommend this hotel in Chania and it is one of the reasons that I am repeatedly drawn to this wonderful city.

We stay at La Maison Ottomane every time we travel to Crete through Chania. It is a quiet, luxurious oasis in the old town, three or four minutes walk from the waterfront, but totally secluded and free from noise and other urban irritations. The hosts are friendly and discreet and provide a wonderful breakfast.

This is a wonderful little hotel! Perfect location to explore old town. Alexandra was so helpful. Breakfast was wonderful every day, and Alexandra even made us pancakes to take to the beach. The room was beautiful with a great bathtub. Free parking onsite really made it convenient. Highly recommend this hotel!

Stayed for one night at the start of our 7 night Cretian adventure and couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice here at La Maison Ottomane. Yes we struggled a little to find the establishment however google maps helped us greatly and we had a Fiat 500 nice and nimble to negotiate any tight streets - just added to the j’oie de vive! Excellently located in the heart of the old town you literally are 5 minutes walk from restaurants and the sea. I love the faded fascades of some of the buildings with slight decay, it adds to the romance of the area , buildings of a bygone era that could tell a story or two. Perfect. We booked room 3 which is accessed via its own staircase and has a private sun trap terrace, with seats and umbrella to shelter from the fierce sun if needed. Perfect place to relax and feel the vibe after a long journey from the UK. We were greeted by a lovely lady with dazzling eyes and cheekbones to die for who I’m not sure completely understood English, she smiled a lot, so welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help and serve us during our stay. She showed us to our room and explained where everything was. Our room felt as though we were in a Moroccan Riad with the corner sofa, Moroccan style lighting and ochre washed walls. Loved all the attention to detail, the monogrammed towels and bed linen which was crisp and cool. The bed was the comfiest I feel I have slept in with wrap around pillows - sheer delight. The room had an array of toiletries which I didn’t use as I am allergic to oranges and these toiletries had orange in. Bathrobes and good powerful shower. There is also a complimentary drink from the mini bar and some raki in an ornate bottle with silver goblets to drink from! Fabulous! Breakfast served outside which was lovely, a huge selection brought to you mezze style - the dishes kept coming and I felt saddened I had insufficient room to eat everything and I am sure the lovely lady who had greeted us on arrival thought we didn’t like it. We did we don’t eat a great deal at breakfast time. Fresh orange is served and again I couldn’t drink this due to allergy and was kindly brought some water served in a cut glass goblet fit for a banquet! So loved all the plates, jugs and little attention to detail pieces. You also are brought a menu to choose some eggs - a whole variety of ways, each very different to how you may have them at home. Andreas the proprietor met us at breakfast and he is a superb host- such a lovely gentleman who was very knowledgeable about the area and restaurants. Do wish we’d stayed another night, I would recommend to others and will stay again in the future (minus any oranges!)

This was a great stay. A very comfortable accomodation in beautiful Chania. Biggest plus is the parking but worth mentioning the breakfast and above all the politeness and professionalism of the 2 people who are always present to support with anything you need. I dont have anything negative for this accomodation....i highly recommend. And by the way the mattress and the pillows are the best! Love from Malta.
