We arrived early hours of the morning. Room allocation on the door where I was told it would be as I had emailed to advise them of delayed flight.
Anna was our friendly host and nothing was to much trouble for her.
We had a studio room with a sea view. Long patio area with 2 chairs and table.
Rooms are basic but did the job.
Towels and bed linen changed on day 4 of our stay (stayed for 7 days)
Bathroom - no shower curtain so be careful when stepping out of shower as floor will be wet (we used the mop to mop up the excess water)
Limited menu but my advice would be use the snack bar for breakfast and lunch but go out for an evening meal.
Large Mythos was €3.50 and glass of wine €2
You can buy 6 large bottles of water for €2.50 from the bar
Air con and safe available (not sure on price as husband sorted this out)
Late checkout - need to ask the day before if you can keep your room, cost was €30
Accommodation is on a hill and not suitable for those with mobility issues. Studios below pool area and apartments above pool area.
Lots of repeat customers
Pool area clean, mixture of sun loungers and umbrellas available. Please do not reserve a sun bed if you have no intention of using it for a few hours as pool will be busy when apartments are full and like most small and friendly places, not enough beds for everyone especially in the shade.
It is a 25-30 minute walk to the main square in Elounda. Some of the paving is a bit uneven and not very well lit in the evening, taxi cost €7.
Beach also along this road and costs €8 for 2 sun beds and umbrella

Plaka is opposite direction (turn left when leaving apartments) and take 40 minutes each way (not a lot of pavement so be careful) beautiful walk/views of Spinalonga.

Lots of restaurants in Elounda have had a makeover, don’t let this put you off as prices still reasonable especially along the harbour.

We love Elounda and will certainly visit Tasmania again

We booked the Tasmania Village for our first visit to Crete. We really like Greece and small family run accommodation. I had done my research and knew it was on a steep hill and a half an hour walk to Elounda main town  - the reviewers who criticise the location or hill should have done their research too.

We had a one bedroom apartment (27) which had a huge balcony and amazing sea views. The pool snack bar served a great variation of food and drinks at reasonable prices. We always got service with a smile and it was great to talk to Maria, George and Yannis. They were so friendly and they have such a beautiful family and truly make you feel valued. They were also always on hand for any tips or advice you needed. They shared some local treats with us and also gave us some special bread from the Church on Saints Day.

The rooms were spacious and clean with plenty of storage room. The people who complain about the toilet bin not being emptied every day could just get some bin liners from town and empty the bin themselves - that's what we did. There is a large dustbin near the entrance on the road. It's easy and certainly nothing to be moaning about. Also the people who complain about sheets being changed only once or twice during a 2 week stay - I doubt you change your bedding every day at home! We didn't use any cooking facilities in the room as I don't go on holiday to cook.

We had a much lazier holiday than we intended, as the pool area was very relaxing. You can walk down and get in the sea for a swim at the front of the property too, which we did several times.

We don't tend to visit the same place more than once but we would like to visit Elounda and the Tasmania Village again as the hospitality was second to none. Thank you Maria, George and Yannis.

The walk in to Elounda is a lovely walk along the sea front on a paved path most of the way and felt very safe. My advice if booking here though is bring flat sandals for the walk in to town, as although it is flat, its a lovely crazy paving style path which wasn't  suitable for the wedges I took!

I'd rave about Tasmania Village all day , but I need to go and make a schnitzel sandwich for hubby.....

Just returned from a great week staying at Tasmania Village. Our room was spacious and kept immaculately clean. The kitchenette was well equipped, and it was a nice touch to be given some washing up liquid and a sponge to keep everything wiped down.
The majority of the rooms are east facing so don’t get the sun in the afternoon or evening but this would probably be a blessing if you went in the height of summer and wanted to escape from the sun.
Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.
Some people have mentioned the steep path going up from the road. It is very steep but if you ask your taxi driver nicely, they will drive you to the top and drop you at your door or at reception/bar area. Fixed price back from Elounda (2022) was 7 euros and 9 euros from Plaka. Elounda is a 20 min walk and Plaka is about 30 mins.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place but make sure you read the information carefully as it probably wouldn’t suit people with mobility issues or anybody needing to bring push chairs for children. A big plus for us was the quiet and relaxed snack bar by the pool which stayed open in the evenings if we wanted an evening meal. Most importantly there was no big TV booming out football which meant guests could all sit and chat nicely. We travelled as a couple but I would recommend this place if you were also travelling alone as it is so friendly.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

This is how I remember past self catering holidays in Crete and other Greek Islands, with fondness.

We do not go on holiday to spend time sitting in the room, the room has all you need , comfy bed, good powerful shower which does not have a curtain and the floor does gets wet but this is not uncommon from past experiences. You can dry your towels on the airer outside.

Usual two hobs and fridge, usual charge for safety deposit box, didn’t need air con as quite breezy whilst we were there.

What sets Tasmania apart is the location and Maria, George and Yannis. If you have any questions, Maria answers them straight away and will help where she can, liaising with TUI about something that was not in her hands regarding our luggage. It’s really interesting listening to Maria’s tales from the past how things used to be in Elounda.

The views from the room and pool are beautiful and if you catch a sunrise or sunset it really is worth gazing at with the location although up a hill providing a peaceful nights sleep.

As other reviews state it’s a flat 20 min stroll into Elounda which is paved and lit reasonably well, it is 1.5 miles into Plaka and whilst ok in the day to do this would not brave walking to Plaka at night as there are places where there are no pavements.

Recommend Tasmania for a relaxing traditional, friendly self catering holiday.

First visit & found it such a friendly place. Most guests we spoke to were returners. It's a family run place & they were happy to help where they could.
The bar & food area is at the side of the pool & open from 9am till midnight (pool closes at dusk). Food & drinks are served throughout that time & we ate or drank something there most days, all of which was enjoyable & reasonably priced. Only moan here was that smoking was allowed in the bar & food area which was a little unpleasant for us non smokers but wouldn't stop me going again.
Accommodation, stayed in apartment 23, was basic but very clean (it really is too nice an area to stay in doors) it made a nice change not to have a TV in the room as more time was spent enjoying what was on offer in Crete & chatting with hosts & other guests.
There is a steep walk up to the apartments, as with most of the complexes in this area, but we managed. Needed extra pillows which were provided when requested. It is self catering but food is reasonable & we decided to eat out instead of buying in food. It also lets you enjoy surrounding places without having to rush back to get meals.
There is a bus stop outside the place & buses are cheap & regular. There are lovely walks into the nearest villages/towns along the sea front. Taxi services are very good & not expensive. Travelling around to see other nearby areas was easy & there are lovely places to visit. Crete really is a beautiful place.
All in all, this family run, 2 star accommodation was excellent value for money, friendly, helpful, clean & quiet with veiws to die for. The 2 downsides, (smoking & steep slope), do not outway the upsides & so I'd recommend trying it out.
Thinking of fitting in a return visit next year.
Thank you Maria, George & family, you work really hard & it was appreciated.

My husband, two daughters and I have returned from a perfect family holiday at the Tasmania Village. The location was ideal as it was a stunning 20 min walk along the sea to the main resort.
We arrived in the night and then awoke to a breath taking sunrise from our balcony.
The apartments were very clean, well maintained and had all we needed as a family. The room were serviced 4 times during our two week stay, which was a pleasant surprise as this was more often than we were expecting.
The pool and bar were very clean and well kept. The owners ensured that drinks were only consumed in plastic cups around the pool and that surfaces were dry around the bar to avoid accidents. The food and drinks were great and service was impeccable.
The main selling point of this accommodation was the owners. The family who own the Tasmanian Village are beautiful. The care and strive to provide excellent service. The are warm, friendly, interested, kind and there is not a problem Maria and Anna cannot help with. If you could bottle the experience they provide and sell it you would make millions. They let you into their loving and close Greek family and it was a privilege to share this holiday with them. Thank you, Maria, Anna, Yiannis and all the rest of your special family. The most perfect holiday in great value accommodation and a gorgeous location. Special times. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay in October we stayed in room 2 which is situated right a the front so had amazing sea views and of spinalonga, the room was perfect for our needs with a lovely balcony , we would highly recommend Tasmania village as in a lovely location if you like walking as it’s away from the main town , it was nice walking into the town for the main beach and for dinner ,also you could walk to plaka which was in the other direction ,if you don’t like walking there’s a bus stop right outside Anna and her husband are lovely people and also met Maria and her husband too. Very nice family run business we will definitely be returning to see more of the island can’t wait to return. .

Very friendly welcome by Anna and Manolis as usual as we have stayed before. The drive is steep up to the pool bar/reception and the higher rooms but you get used to it even us with "bungalow legs". Maria and George have been running the place previously as she and Anna alternate but always a friendly welcome. The snack bar is good value for drinks and food with a good selection of local meals and British snacks on offer, even a good full English. We booked a car at the airport to shorten the transfer and because we use the car to sightsee during our stay. Plenty of free car parking on site as well. Bumped into people we had met there on past visits and many returning visitors, always a good sign. Rooms are very clean but basic, comfortable beds with sheets and towels changed every 4 days. great views from our balcony and from the pool and bar towards Spinalonga and Plaka. Would we go back again ? Absolutely!

Had a fabulous holiday which was made special by Maria, Yianni and George. They work so hard to make you feel welcome and accommodate any requests.
Pool bar fab, food delicious and fairly priced.
View from balcony spectacular but this comes at a price of walking up a hill to your room. Seemed daunting on day one but got easier every day and has made us fitter.
One small thing that could be a little better is the frequency the bathroom bins are emptied in the rooms and change of towels. Other than that we've had an amazing holiday and that's thanks to this lovely family who made us feel very welcome.
We will miss you all when we leave and wish you all the very best for the future. God bless.

Stunning location overlooking Spinalonga. The rooms at Tasmania Village are spotlessly clean and spacious including ample facilities to self cater although apart from simple breakfasts we had lunch at the pool bar which offers a varied menu at very reasonable prices. There is a lovely pool with loungers and umbrellas all with sensational views over the bluest sea looking out to Spinalonga. This is a friendly family run business the members of which go out of their way to ensure a great holiday! The pool bar is open each day from 9 am till 12 midnight .The many repeat bookings are ample testament to the excellent friendly service! There is quite a steep climb up to the accommodation but the views from the rooms and pool area more than make up for the small effort involved. Ignore the negative comments this is simple Greek friendly clean accommodation at a reasonable price. If you want 5 star facilities there are plenty of the all inclusive type to be had at a significantly higher price, but if you are after a little Greek experience this is a good choice. The lovely small port village of Elounda is 30 minutes walk away along a lovely promenade. There are lots of really good places to eat drink and shop! There are nice sand and shingle beaches in Elounda but can be stony underfoot in the sea. I recommend investing in some hot tuna type swim shoes! Finally a boat trip to Spinalonga is a must!
