Rented apartment #2 for two months. Terrible experience with dishonest landlord who would not return our deposit money. Online pictures are not accurate representation. Everything is outdated and non-functional. Building right in front is blocking sea view. Constant black mold on walls and in shower made us feel sick and unable to sleep. Landlord painted over black mold only for it to return soon after. Constant construction noise and drilling in their other apartments. TV only Greek language. After addressing the problems with the landlord she made us feel like we are the problem and kept our deposit money claiming that we didn't keep the longterm rental agreement.

We have stayed in apt 1 and have re booked this apartment for 2 weeks next year. As the previous person stated the bathroom and bedroom do not have any Windows however plenty of light enters the bedroom via frosted glass between bedroom and living area. Regarding the living area... Why would you want the air con on AND have the window open ? The air con is very efficient ...there are also shutters which stop light entering if you don't want it....when open these allow full light . Something we love is the patio area , table and chairs - it has good lighting so even late at night we often sat reading. Just love this compact apartment ....and look forward to staying there next year.

Allocated apartment 1 which was on the ground floor. No windows in the bedroom, bathroom and has one window in the lounge/ kitchen which had to be closed to allow the air conditioning to work. We felt very closed in. The other apartments especially on the top floors appear to have more light and are airy. Near the sea and short walk to main beach and shops. Supermarket opposite. It was ok for a base but stifling at night although the air conditioning was on at night we woke up with sore throats. Ideally might be better if you go for upper floors but beware there is a steep slope!

My sister and I stayed at these apartments for two weeks. I would thoroughly recommend them. The family who own them are incredibly hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble. We were invited to join them on several occasions for Greek coffee and cakes. On the day after our night arrival Michaelis made us coffee and spent an hour answering all our questions and advising us where to go. The apartments are really clean with new towels and bed linen every couple of days. They are in a great location, Just a few minutes walk to sea front, the square and a supermarket. We had a night flight and were able to store our luggage and have a shower at no extra charge and were even left a little gift by Rena. Incredible. I would thoroughly recommend these apartments and would definitely use them again.

We stayed at apartment No 8 in late September early October 2017 for 2 weeks. It was cleaned regularly and has beautiful views over a wide area being one of the highest apartments. We are both in our 60’s and it was decent exercise walking up the hill to the apartment which we enjoyed. Reyna & Dimitris are the very best of people you can meet. Our lasting memory will be of our time spent in their company. I have never before met such fine hosts and as with other reviews, we were invited into their family circle. The supermarket directly across from the Appartments has essentials and the 5 minute walk into the main square means the apartments are in a good location. We hope to return again soon.

This was a fairly typical Greek apartment. Basic , but clean. It certainly looks much better in the online photos than in reality. Could be doing with some modernisation and a lick of paint. It has great air conditioning, which we needed as temperatures reached over 40 during our stay. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our view across the roofs to the sea and the island of Spinalonga in the distance. My wife just adored the large balcony where she spent a lot of time catching some rays and drinking chilled wine. This is not a seafront property. There are a few buildings in front, then a busy main road then another set of building and then the sea. However, only 3 minutes walk to the seafront and another 3 minutes to restaurants and the village. There is a short but very steep hill to the apartments, probably not good for very elderly, unfit or wheelchair users. Elounda has a small beach at the other end of the village which was very pleasant. Walking in the other direction are stony beaches which were just ok. Elounda has a good variety of restuarants situated throughout the village, a few set on small getties on the sea which are very pleasant. If you walk over the hills you can find nicer beaches which became very busy when the tour boats come in. If you like avoiding tacky 'british breakfast served all day' type resorts then this is for you. The village is small but never too busy or too quiet. The Greeks we met were their usual friendly selves. The couple who own these apartments are charming. They also own a seafront property which is a much nicer but Im sure a bit more expensive.

We stayed in Apartment 2, which has a kitchen/living area(with optional sleeping on the sofa), shower & toilet room, and two double bedrooms. It accommodated us as a family of 5 very comfortably. There is good air conditioning, good wifi and a balcony area with seating for 5. A cleaner comes in twice a week to clean, change bedding & towels etc. It was clean, functional and provided a comfortable base for our holiday. The customer service from the family who own the apartments is second to none. They could not have been more friendly and helpful, and we would strongly recommend staying here based on that factor alone. Michael was amazing. Elounda itself is another reason to visit as it simply has everything you could want, from weather to good restaurants, beaches and shops. The Apartment is about 3-4 minutes walk from the centre of Elounda and in walking distance of several good beaches. Regular hourly bus goes to nearby Agios Nikolaos and getting the bus was hassle free. We strongly recommend Markakis Apartments.

Markakis Apartments were brilliant. Over two weeks we stayed at both number 3 and number 8. Excellent location just a few minutes to the best that the beautiful town of Elounda offers. The owners were charming - so friendly, welcoming and always a lovely reception. The apartments were brilliant value for money - with both air conditioning and good quality wifi. The standards of cleaning were faultless. Very highly recommended.

We stayed at the apartment 8 for our honeymoon, and we were not disappointed. The Appartments are very clean and well maintained, with stunning views over looking elounda from the main balcony, and even better views of elounda from the private roof terrace. The hospitality and warm family welcome we had from Micheal, Rena and Demetris and there inclusion of me and my wife into there family circle, was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them in making your stay at the Appartments a memorable one. The stairs leading to our apartment are very deceiving but were very manageable, and we had no problem walking up them or down. I would recommend these Appartments to anyone who wants to visit elounda, as they are situated well, with a supermarket directly across from the Appartments and only a 5 minute walk into the main square. Lovely Appartments, lovely family.
