Well where do I start with this amazing hotel ,upon arrival as a family (2 adults and a teenager) which was late we were welcomed by Nic,George, Georgina and the team and instantly made to feel very welcome nothing was to much trouble and as we were booked on a half board basis was offered food after our long journey bearing in mind this was midnight .
The food at the hotel is excellent and both the bar menu and the restaurant menu have something to suit everybody's taste.
The room was also more than we expected with all the facilities to self cater if booked on that basis , the view we had was amazing off our balcony of the pool and also the sea which is only a short walk away ,
Sunbeds are not a problem at this hotel around the pool (which is cleaned daily ) as there are plenty to go around and no need to be placing towels on beds at sunrise.
There is a shop also onsite for anything you may require if you don't want to walk to the nearest supermarket which again is around a 5 minute walk away .
There are buses avalible just outside the front of the hotel enabling you to travel all the way to chania which is around 40 minutes by bus ,or platensa the nearest local town around 15 minutes bus fare very reasonable at €4.80 for the 3 of us each way .
Trips around the island can also be booked at reception with Georgina and far cheaper than booking the trips elsewhere as Georgina was very knowledgeable about the trips and what would suit is as a family .
The poolside bar on a evening offers entertainment also and we caught several karaoke nights which were amusing ,that may of also been down to how good the cocktails are prepared by George ,nic,or Clyde who all make great cocktails and if it's not on the menu thjust ask and they will make it for you .
Rooms are cleaned daily and consumables replenished .
The area as a whole where the hotel is located has everything you need from supermarkets to restaurants by the beach etc although I would say from our experience of eating out the food at the hotel would take some beating .
I can't rate this hotel highly enough and I have stopped all over the world purely for the extended family feel and how welcome you are made to feel if I could give it 10 stars I would and definitely plan to return .

We were looking for a chilled out relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we had.

Our standard apartment was large and cleaned to a high standard every day. Air con in both the bedroom and living room and wifi were included. The kitchen had a fridge with small freezer compartment, two ring hob, a kettle and filter coffee machine. There was also a hairdryer in the room. Our balcony was a good size overlooking the pool and had a sea view.

The swimming pool was fantastic, very deep at one end with a fun diving board. Inflatables are allowed to be used in the pool. There were plenty of sun beds around the pool with extra stacked up. We could always get a sun bed at any time of the day - everyone was considerate and removed their towels when they were not using the beds. The pool was cleaned every night with a robot cleaner which our daughter named Robert.

The food in the bar was delicious, particular highlights were the gyros, the chips and the Futura crepes. You could choose to eat from the bar or restaurant menus and both offered really good choices. The cocktails at the bar were superb. All of the staff were really friendly and make this hotel a level above others.

The hotel is located on the Main Street in Maleme with a supermarket a few minutes walk. The beach was a 5-10 minute walk. It is a pebbly beach so water shoes are advisable if you want to spend time there. Maleme is a quiet resort, there are approx 8 restaurants within walking distance. Other resorts are easily accessible by bus from just outside the hotel.

We’d like to thank all of the staff who went out of their way to make sure our holiday was fantastic. We will definitely return if we get the chance.

Stayed here for a fortnight on a Jet2 holiday. Absolutely nothing to fault about the Futura - Giorgina, Nick and George are really friendly and helpful, looked after us well and shared local knowledge so we went to some delightful places. Our room was spacious, had a great view and a balcony which gave us shelter from the sun at its zenith. It was sweltering hot at the start of our holiday so clean bed linen often was much appreciated. Thankfully, the aircon was effective and free of charge. The breakfast was totally stunning and is served till quite late which suited us very well. Cocktails in the pool bar in the evening were an added pleasure as was the vegetarian moussaka which Nick cooked specially for me. Delicious.

Just back from a 2 week stay with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. Staff excellent, very friendly and helpful. Bar stays open till well past midnight even if there are no customers. Rooms spacious, clean and well equipped. Towels changed every other day and bedding changed regularly. We were on B&B and there was always a good and plentiful choice of breakfast. Word of warning though, there are a lot of steps at the hotel even if you are on the ground floor and no hot water in the morning. One of our friends had an accident whilst on holiday (not at the hotel) and hotel staff most concerned and insisted on him going to hospital (unlike the restaurant owner where the accident happened) Good location a 10 minute stroll to the beach f ront and about 5 minutes to 2 supermarkets. Sadly Maleme is not for us but if it was, would definitely stay here again.

If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday maybe this is not the establishment for you or your family.
Hotel nice and welcoming, but from dawn to dusk you will have your holiday interrupted by caged parrots squawking constantly through out day time hours.I have nothing against these birds but if i want to hear them all day I would go to a country where they live in the wild

We spent 10 days at Futura hotel, in a suite with 2 bedrooms/2 badrooms and a balcony with view on the mountains (no other availability for that kind of suite) and self catering.

Let’s start with the good points ;
*The staff is friendly and pretty reactive.
*Breakfast as well as food at the bar was really good.
*The pool is nice but can get crowded if you are not there early enough.
*Our « suite » was big enough for 5 and all the necessary equipment was there to cook one in a while.

Let’s move to the bad ;
*The view on the mountains was more like a view on the street and a big electric pole (literally 2meters away from the balcony)
*The room was not cleaned when we got it as we found trash under the beds. The cleaning team was sent after feedback to the reception.
*The balcony was a complete mess, broken tiles so that you could not walk barefeet without risking to cut yourself. The wood railing as well as the stairs were broken with nails sticking out of it.
When adressing this issue to the staff the only answer was « it is known but we can’t modernise everything at the same time». I was not so much asking for something modern but for something safe for my kids.
We had 5 wasp nests in the balcony railing and informed the hotel staff about it. Unfortunately nothing was done.
This made the balcony a no go zone for our stay…such a shame when you could have a drink outside in the evening or a coffee in the morning.

We asked for a late check out and were charged 40euros for it. The hotel staff could have seen there a way to compensate the few issues we had by not charging us…

Had an amazing time in Crete but disappointed by the hotel as it had the potential to make our holiday when looking around, it seemed like our appartment was the only one to have these problems…)

Firstly, the hotel is exceptional, I had a really good time with all the people in the hotel, to mention all the names would take so long. The food out of this world as well as the service. The prices are a lot higher than Greece used to be (5.50 a bottle of beer) but they are still worth it due to the environment. Staff were polite and fun with children and adult alike. I would definitely go to this hotel and stay again, thanks all :)

Giorgina Haralambakis is a amateur hotel manager that mess up the reservations and she is making a favour for you to stay in the hotel.
If you stay at this hotel,  you will have a felling that they are making a favour for you to stay there.
If you book this hotel from a travel agency,  it may be fine,  but if you book it directly,  Giorgina may change your hotel for something inferior and she will say that the hotel is full.
We paid the hotel in 2020 before Covid and received a cash voucher. The voucher covered FULLY the price in 2022.
Giorgina decided that my voucher wasn't enough to stay in her hotel and she moved my family and kids to another inferior hotel.
First,  Giorgina didn't have the correct days that we will stay,  even we sand an email confirmation 1 week before arrival.
Also, she said that someone was with Covid (July 2022), was in our supposed room and we will not be able to stay there. It is likely that it was a lie. Also,  there was room available in the hotel as I could book online but Giorgina decided that we were not worth to stay there based on what we have paid.
Since the arrival,  Giorgina was unpleasant and she becomes rude when we tried to resolve the situation.
We accepted to stay in a different hotel to avoid stress on the holiday with kids and avoid discussing the someone rude as Giorgina.
Crete is beautiful,  and there are many hotels for you to choose that are better then the Futura Hotel. I would avoid Futura Hotel.

Our experience with this hotel has been horrible, there is no room service every day, the rooms are old with old and uncomfortable mattresses, the breakfast is very poor, there is no one at the reception when needed. I don't recommend this hotel even to my biggest enemy. first and last time in this place. We still have three more days in this horrible hotel, I hope it passes soon.

The beach is close by and it’s on the bus route. I would not say it is for teenagers though. It’s too quiet in May as well. Chania has more for teenagers I’d expect. Good luck!

Hi. I’d say they were average -on a par with those around but maybe slightly cheaper than the eateries a 10minute walk away on the sea front.

Does anyone know if there is a selection of.bars and restaurants nearby?
Answer from maleme

Hi Karen, Yes there are a few bars and taverns on the beach and main street of Maleme. Also every hotel has their own bars and restaurants. Platanias is also close which is the local tourist hotspot. 5-10 min buy taxi or bus.
