We've just returned from a fortnight's stay at the Thalassa and if I could give the hotel and staff ten stars out of five, I would. We were incredibly well looked after and nothing was too much trouble from help with car parking to beach and restaurant recommendations. Not that we ate out of the hotel once we'd dined there, as the food really was exceptional - fresh seafood, sushi a speciality - from a top kitchen. We loved the decor, modern and innovative, uplifting, and of course we loved being right on the seafront. We couldn't thank everyone enough for a truly relaxing and laid-back stay overlooking the Mediterranean. Heaven.

The hotel is impeccable, COVID safe and value for money. I highly recommend. He had a big secret ... his restaurant "THALASSES". Congratulations to the chef and his team. It was the best seafood gastronomy meal I ate in Crete in the last eight years, the steamed mussels were “to drink in the glass” so fresh so fragrant !!ceviche was magic for our palate. The tone of the photo was …🙏 prayed never finished.Thank you for the experience we will definitely be back ευχαριστώ και τον Έλληνα Γκωτιε - λόγο στυλ- ανεπανάληπτος, που γνώρισα το μανατζάρεις άψογα

First off this is a very beautiful hotel with some amazing views. The rooms were lovely and clean, very unique being over 2 floors! They had a car park just behind which was great for us, they keep the keys at reception so that cars can be moved about and upon request they’ll bring yours forward. On arrival we were given a nice glass of something bubbly and a covid form, and our bags taken to our room. Robes where provided, initially we had been given a standard Large... (me and the partner are very proud plus size people) so these didn’t really fit, the next day an XL appeared...was a nice gesture but I’m unsure on how I feel about that (still didn’t quite fit, but thanks!) Not much around the hotel but that was okay for us as we got taxis into the main town(€5/6 each way) it’s about a 25 minute walk into the edge of town for those keen walkers! Not much to say about the ‘private beach’ as we didn’t spend any time there, we did however spend time in the pool which was lovely! The first day unfortunately there wasn’t enough chlorine in there and my white bikini top turned green and we had a green tinge to us, we did notice in further day’s that more chlorine was added and no more green!! My only issue with the pool was the fact that there was only deck style chair, and personally I like to lie down whilst relaxing in the sun ( it was a small space so this is understandable, but maybe some foot rests?) the breakfast was done very nicely but with only one lovely waiter to serve everyone, we had a sheet to tick off what we wanted and he brought it over, decent food. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, and would recommend to couples of any age.

Very loud hotel by the main road - can hear the cars all night long from the room with the windows closed. The hotel was also very understaffed which led to lots of problems at breakfast and often noone at reception. The location is also far away from Rethymno and therefore when we return we would prefer to stay in the old town or on the other side of Rethymno. I was really looking forward to staying here but instead was left feeling very disappointed.

We booked Thalassa Hotel on about 30 minutes notice for one night. We were originally meant to be staying at another hotel locally, but on arrival had to abandon our stay and rebook in to a new hotel - which was the Thalassa. We therefore arrived stressed and upset, and NOTHING can describe the teams amazing hospitality that followed. We were taken to the beach terrace to check in, handed glasses of champagne and shown huge kindness that turned our whole day around. The room / food / view / restaurant was all outstanding as ever other review has said, and my gratitude to the team is enormous. We didn't mention during our visit, but we had just become engaged the night before - this was absolutely a hotel and level of service totally befitting of that occasion. Thank you! We may never have meant to be staying there originally, but we absolutely will be back!!
