Outstanding and excellent place with an extremly friendly and worm-hearted host Liza. The view to the castle was fantastic . The room was very nice furnitured, the daily room cleaning war very good and efficient. The breakfast was varied with freshly made pastries every day!! Ask Liza for her favourite places to stay (beaches, scenic routes,…) and to eat. She knows excellent Tavernas and Restaurants.

Friendly, family run hotel, very clean. Helpful staff, room cleaned every day. Views of the Chora, the sea and the Castle are nice. We enjoyed the pool also. Boat tour VIP Yachting run by the family is a good option to sign up for. Airport and port shuttles are very handy. Would visit again in the future.

We spent almost a week in this wonderful place. Great spacious room with lots of lovely and thoughful details, excellent bed and bathroom, marvellous views of the bay. Very good breakfast. The private yacht trip to the neighbouring mini islands of Koutsomiti and Kounoupa with their great beaches is very relaxing and rewarding. Very quiet location, but old Chora with all the tavernas can be reached on foot within 10 minutes. Lovely family, always very friendly, extremely helpful, helped us to discover the best beaches, restaurants, attractions etc. We will definitely be back.

We have wanted to visit Astypalaia for many years. We planned our trip to end there at this hotel in 2018. Alas, we got trapped in Amorgos in storms in late September and all boats were cancelled. Many people have reviewed this hotel referring to the help and kindness of the lovely people who run it. That was our experience then, as Mike's very kind response softened our disappointment. We promised we’d make Tholaria a priority to visit and finally made it. We had a lovely stay in the most peaceful room with a not hot tub - very refreshing! Wonderful staff are still making this the place we wanted to visit - lovely breakfasts and nothing was too much trouble. The boat trip on Mike’s boat definitely a highlight. We recommend it unreservedly. Thank you.

let's start by saying that the structure is good but unfortunately the appearance can be deceiving and a lot ... first of all to carry your luggage (if you have rooms in the basement) if all goes well you risk getting a bruise on a joint (see photo number 1). Housekeeping leaves the time they find and above all not replenishing the shower products daily, which forces the customer to have to go out and buy a shower gel at the nearest market, since no one answers at the reception (despite the website talking about a 24/24 service). The breakfast is ridiculous to say the least and of low quality, since the breakfast attendant does not bring the buffet close but allows all guests to be around there, indoors and without a mask (see photo 2). furthermore, again for non-compliance with the covid legislation, they bring you a common sugar bowl for all the guests from whom I do not know who took some sugar or maybe sneezed in it !! to top it off, avoid this place and save your money

Starting with breakfast....you have every right not to like it! All the other guests ( according to the comments) love it and we are very happy for this! You asked for brown sugar in portions and you had daily! We were telling everybody to wear masks and they did! Some of them had to return to their rooms to take it and they all did! Each one of the staff has his own marked mask in a bowl. Of course we disinfect them before putting them inside(!) - not to mention of course that everyone in the hotel is vaccinated (!) Shampoo and shower gel are put in rooms daily!!! There was one day that you complained. We apologised and when you left we entered your room to put more!!! We found them there, under the towels that you threw on them. Of course when you picked the towels to use them you saw that there were both shampoo and gel but you never said the truth after!!!! When you told us that you don't want the maid to clean your room while you were having breakfast we respected that and it finished there! Your room is the last one and you have to pass 3 stairs. You never mentioned that next to your door there is another door (that you were always using) next to the street that you could skip any stairs! No stairs! No injuries! Just rolling suitcases! I suppose you know everything about COVID and you should know that we are not allowed to touch your luggage!!! You were informed about the hours that reception is closed but everywhere at the reception there are written our numbers that you could call us any time 24/24 because there is always one of us in the hotel!!! You would have seen it if you were sometimes at the reception because, as I mentioned before , you were using the skipping stairs way!!!! Thanks for your comments! * our hotel is located in chora, not outside chora! Of course it's not between the windmills but 6-7 minutes on foot from there is great!

First of all, if I search for a “boutique” hotel I expect to receive a top class treatment and not the same you can find in an average 1/2 stars structure… let’s start: 1) stairs - the hotel is located outside Chora along a slope which grants a great view on the sea but no facilities at all. Their website do not mention any stair presence nor issue in accessibility while the presence of several ramps of stairs to get to the rooms located at the bottom is a great problem, especially because no service of porterage is offered, so if u are not perfectly fit it represents a huge obstacle (or just an annoying feature that an hotel qualifying itself as 4 stars is not supposed to have). 2) cleaning - aside from be force to ask on the first day to not clean our room while we were having breakfast (I am used to come back to my room to get ready before leaving for the day, even just for wash my teeth…), the second day we came back from the beach and no shampoo not body wash was present in the room, so after calling several times the reception (with no answer) I was forced to take the car and go to the nearest supermarket to buy them… 3) reception - their website clearly states that a reception is available 24/7 but, as verified in point 2, this is not true and if I need something while I stay in a boutique/4 star hotel (and pay for it) I pretend someone is always present to meet my requests. 4) breakfast - a nightmare!!! The breakfast room is tiny and, even if not actually allowed, full of guests going around with no mask (and the owners seems to be careless about it). It’s absurd to be required to not go close to the buffet (very poor both in quality and in variety) when I am served with a sugar bowl commonly used for other guests by a waitress wearing a mask took away from a “vase” and not properly covering mouth and nose. 5) management - I had the chance to stay within “real” boutique and 4/5 stars hotels and this structure has a lot to learn both in guest reception and in services before to be counted among them - pls, hire a professional staff and a manager, maybe it will be better… In conclusion, stay away for it… spend your money in hotels worth of it and do not waste it here.

Small boutique hotel on the way from Chora to Livadi- the most popular beach on the island. Hiden from the wind, oasis of calmness, silence with a spectacular view on the bay. Traditional cycladic architecrure and interiors designed with care about every detail. Rooms are spacious and have terraces or balcony. Some of them have outdoor private mini pools or jaccuzi. Delicious breakfasts prepared by the owner and very good vibe and harmony( it’s a kind ond a good feng shui in this place). On the terrace there is small swimming pool with the spectacular view and down on the hill a tiny beach is accessible. You will need a proper shoes to get there but then you can snoorkle naked and nowbody will bother you. Armchairs on the terrace is an ideal place to read in a silence an when you need more action - there is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Chora. We love this place :)
