Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Went here on a work trip for 3 weeks. The staff are great, Vagelis at dinner time is a gent and nothing is too much trouble. There's also two lovely ladies at breakfast who are very helpful along with the lovely lady at reception , all the staff are really pleasant you can tell they like working there and are a good team. The dinner is really quality food and the breakfast is plentiful. The rooms are cleaned meticulous every day and the shower is perfect in the room, some people on here seemed to have flooded their bathroom but just keep the curtain inside the shower tray it's simple 😆 had a lovely room with a balcony with breath taking views day and night. It's an enjoyable walk to the main town 15 mins exactly if you are anyway fit, it may be a struggle for elderly to walk it as it is a bit uphill but taxis are plentiful. Beach is directly in front of hotel with beautiful waters. WiFi free and very good. Definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay at the New Aegli Resort Hotel. The location is ideal situated across the road from the beach. Our sea view room with balcony had the most amazing view. The staff were kind and helpful with special mention to Helga who looked after us very well. We booked half board and found the prices were great value. Would recommend this hotel and hope to be back soon.

Beautiful hotel. Really clean and beds soooooo comfortable. Views stunning. Great beach. Everything was great - apart from when taking a shower it flooded the bathroom a bit. We got round it by having extra bath mats to mop up. Great location and lovely island.

This hotel for me personally is the best one in the entire island 🏝 of Poros. Very low prices, excellent personal with warm and really kind behavior. Perfect fresh food!!! And so much more.... It's a 4 star hotel that deserves to be a 5 star. Enjoy!!!

First impressions of the New Aegli are that the location is great. Around one kilometre from the port and a v short car journey (they’ll pick you up if you call ahead to sort). The hotel is within spitting distance of the sea/lovely sandy Askeli beach and if you’re booked to stay in a sea view room, you’ll never tire of the 180 Poros coastline vista. And now the reasons for the rating and title…. The hotel’s interior is tired, dated, messy, and lacking any kind of frills. Reception area and the hotel in general is plastered with naff laminated posters telling you what you can and (mostly can’t) do. You might even spot one announcing things ‘coming up’ in 2019. Appreciate Covid took its toll but a quick audit of the notices would go a long way to improving general appearance. Likewise the empty glass display cabinets, broken E-checkin, and ‘internet corner/games area’ with kit from c2001. Rooms - varying in size but smaller ones would gain considerably more space if the bed wasn’t so unfeasibly high and large. In contrast the shower was so small/decidedly grubby you’d be better washing in the sea across the road. As mentioned initially however, it’s all about the view and the outlook from our third floor balcony with its proximity to the water was quite something. Rooftop bar - the New Aegli seems to proudly tout this facility via a further selection of clipart notices. Again the view from the top of the hotel is spectacular and so odd that the bar was unstaffed when we went up there around 8pm on a sunny Saturday evening, at what you’d assume to be prime time. We did eventually get a drink but it was served warm, in a half measure and with a bucket of ice cubes too warm to fit in the glass in case I wanted to cool it myself. More laughable than annoying! Pool - there’s a small pool framed by some tatty looking fake grass which removing would immediately improve the overall appeal. More general mess in the area which again would cost nothing to remove and improve. Breakfast - a nice setting with sea views but the buffet set-up was chaotic and messy yet again. A fair selection of food and drink but expect no frills and you won’t be disappointed. Staff - not many to be seen and those we did encounter were friendly enough tho overall no one seemed to be in charge or have much interest in customer service or making sure people have a great holiday, which seemed unusual given their line of work. Overall with its prime location and panoramas the New Aegli has loads of potential. Some improvements seem to be in place in some areas E.g. new furniture in the restaurant etc but still plenty of room for more. Getting rid of all the posters to start with, creating some general order and adding a few touches to make people feel welcome would be a cheap but worthwhile improvement.

Here are the pros. You will find this renovated hotel in an excellent location, close to the village of Poros. Rooms are very clean, with fantastic sea view, for most of them. Right in front of the hotel you will find a sandy beach, with sun beds and umbrellas provided by the hotel. And the cons. Personnel very polite, but not always very professional. Very slow internet (instead of high speed advertised on homepage). Hotel’s App works only with android systems. Apple users (iPhone & iPad) have no chance. Double bed, with its comfortable mattress, has an unusual high height, which you don’t find in most normal beds. That would not be a problem if the bedside lights were not positioned so low (probably fitted before they changed to high beds) and you keep hitting them accidentally. Same with the central light switch. Too low and you will definitively switch the lights on accidentally during your sleep. No bathrobes and slippers, as advertised on homepage. The online ordering system at the beach bar does not work. You may scan the QR code, place your order, receive a confirmation that your order has been sent, but your order will never come. You have to call the beach bar and repeat all the details of your order, if you want to have a coffee or a cocktail by the sea. The decent breakfast buffet lacks of a variety of fresh fruit, which is unacceptable for a fruit producer like Greece.
