This hotel is a 6Euro taxi ride from the town. My first impression was that I would be isolated, but I walked for 3 mins and found the sea and lots of cafes aand restaurants open. It was easy to find somewhere to eat that evening.
However, the hotel was what you would expect for 3*. Reception was very sparse and no welcome was offered. I was not told anything about breakfast etc and where to find it. I had to find my own way around. Total lack of ambience. It served it's purpose for a stopover on the way to the islands and thankfully, the very typical tavaerna I found with tables on the beach made up for anything lacking here. I've got to say that I was here n April so they were just opening up for the season, but that's still no excue - if they are open then they should be open!

I have read a lot of bad comments and I was a little bit afraid, but the stay has run normal and didn't have any big issue.
Accessible stay with big parking, quiet, with a decent breakfast.
Near the city and the mountain.
Good for a city break.

The hotel is on the south side of the city. Has anice pool. However this hotel needs an urgent renovation. Beds are bad, bathrooms are old. Staff was very nice and helpful. We only came for one night so it is OK.

what an awful hotel worst I have ever stayed in Booked for 3 nights but left after one night Booking in it seems as if the manager didn't know which room we had been allocated and asked for booking confirmation( explained it was an internet booking) Told it was the end of the season so hotel would be quiet
First room fridge noisy, bed poorly made a folded up sheet placed at end of bed dirty ( cotton bud under bed and hair in shower plughole) and a toilet system circa 1950s that has a pull handle to flush which when lifted to flush the top of the cistern came away and unable to flush Reported to reception who said manager would be back in 2 hours so we went to Volos for sightseeing and on return the receptionist said no repairs done but offered us another room which was even worse No working lights in ceiling light over bed or on 2 bedside lights we had to rely on bathroom light Smallest bathroom on planet even twiggy would struggle to use Daylight revealed a very dirty shower curtain a cracked sink from being constantly hit by door a huge hole over the bedroom door
Breakfast was ok but had to ask for fresh milk as jug empty, the filter coffee was almost empty and had been steaming away for sometime The "waitress" came in and was too busy on her mobile phone to replenish or see if everything was OK
My husband complained to the manager who seemed surprised we were leaving - no apologies or refund or even the offer of a better room He'd have been better if he'd put his mobile phone down along with his coffee and cigarette to see what the problems where he obviously doesn't care

If you want to stay here, you should know that overall is ok, the breakfast is good, tasty, variated, the beach is pretty close, but the bathroom and the furniture is kind of old. Doors are creaking when someone opens it and closes it and you can hear if somone talks in the near room.
Also the internet is very slow.

We liked our stay here - we loved the pool and the location close to the beach and shops. We had a really nice dinner one night and would have eaten there again if we weren't visiting friends. The rooms were comfortable and I see that the hotel has started to upgrade the bathrooms. Recommend this hotel if staying in Volos - you can catch a bus to the town centre if you don't have a car.

We stayed in hotel Kalloni for 2 days in June 2013, on our way to Skopelos island. Hotel is a few kms from the center of Volos, but in my opinion this was an advantage because there was a lot of parking space for people traveling by car. Rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good. They made an effort to serve early breakfast just for us because our ferry took off early in the morning. Special thanks to the young lady working at the reception desk, who was very kind and helpful. All in all it is a very nice hotel for a short stay.

We have had a great time in this hotel. They really take care of their clients!
The hotel is located approximatly 5 km from Volos, but it's probably in the nicest part of the city.
There are some good restaurants 5 minutes away, on the seaside.
And the hotel is just 100 meters from a bus stop, that goes directly to the city.

Hotel was renovated, the dinner was very good and the restaurant staff was polite, the breakfast couldn't be worst, rooms were large, comfortable and quiet but without any nice style, bathroom was clean but small, not renovated and had technical problems. Bed was terrible, i hardly could sleep. My worst experiance was the last day at the reception when i was asked to pay cash. I said to the man at the reception that before i booked the room i agreeded with the reservations that i could use my visa card to pay the bill. He insisted to pay cash in a rude way. I was totaly disappointed by his behaviour. I would never go back to this hotel.

We booked this hotel from 30.9.-02.10. Three adults and a dog. I must say that I am disabled and depend on accessibility. This hotel presents itself as disabled-friendly and barrier-free, and animals are allowed. This is exactly what I was looking for. And because of the positive reviews on the web, i booked it immediately!!!!! I was so looking forward to staying there, because the description and reviews online were very good!
Well, the truth was unfortunately just the opposite. The room was dirty, in the bathroom the toilet was raised, as it should be for the disabled, but the toilet seat and the toilet lid were missing, rust & mold everywhere, on the bedsheet and pillow were old blood stains to see. As far as safety goes the door handles were partly broken, you had to press with a lot of force, otherwise you risked the door remained open. One can imagine disabled people can’t use a lot of force. This is self explanatory! Access to the breakfast room was only down some stairs to reach, otherwise you had to go outside of the hotel through a back exit! For non disabled people this is of course no problem at all but like I said, I have a walking disability, can barely lift my feet off the ground and use crutches for everyday life and a walker at home, which means I rely on help from others.
To top it all, when I was on my way to the breakfast room, i was alone and because of the stairs i needed help. A nice cleaning lady helped me with the stairs... but since there was not even a handrail, to hold on to, the nice cleaning lady asked a kitchen staff member to briefly help us in order for me to walk up the 10 steps. She replied, without looking at us, that she couldn't and didn't have time. And she calmly continued cutting the cucumbers.. So we then very slowly were able to go up those steps, just the two of us.
Conclusion is that we barely endured 2 nights there, and then changed to a super hotel that was really barrier-free and clean!!!! There I could finally shower and sleep and from the friendliness of the staff and the EXCELLENT BREAKFAST we are thrilled. The hotel is called, "DOMOTEL XENIA VOLOS"!

⚠️So who really depends on BARRIER FREE and the help of his fellow men should NOT BOOK HERE AT HOTEL KALLONI.
