Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff were absolutely excellent. Very professional and helpful. Happy to give recommendations about other restaurants. We had an issue with parking in that whilst I paid I had not displayed correct disc which resulted in me receiving a parking fine. The staff were nearly as outraged as I was and took it upon themselves to deal with the agency who manage the parking. I was really impressed by this as a lot of hotels would have said nothing to do with them. Room was very comfortable with everything we needed. Felt a bit corporate but nothing wrong with that! Able to eat on terrace. Food was fine. Hotel ideally situated with restaurants and bars near by. There was a music festival in the square immediately in front which whilst noisy was also fun. If you are coming to stay here and want quiet make enquiries about when week long music festival in Esbjerg is. Breakfast was disappointing after what we had received in other hotels in Denmark.

The black out curtains are not long enough to cover the windows, so dont plan to get much sleep. the shower curtain is too short for the shower so water gets all over the floor, causing slip hazard. TV unusable unless you pay extra fee, room labeled as queen, but actually 2 twin beds pushed together with no strapping to hold together. Beds separated in the middle of the night. Parking is unchecked and severely limited. several customers parked taking up 2 spaces hotel does nothing . Rooms DO NOT have any A/C as listed on the main page, clearly misleading potential travelers like ourselves. Definitely not worth paying $300 USD

Rooms and towels only cleaned and changed on request. Don't expect to watch any TV channels as they have turned them off you MUST stream your own content (4* not anymore), Plus a 12.5% price increase, your better off staying in the Cab Inn or the Scandik at least they have TV channels. I have never stayed in a Hotel that has a TV and does not have free to air TV channels. After 20+ years of staying at this hotel, I will be taking my Business somewhere else.

I arrived from abroad for business, and was dropped off by my client at the Britannia, which is where they said they'd booked my room. The front desk staff couldn't find my booking, but made me feel very welcome nonetheless. They rallied together to look for it and, when it wasn't turning up, suggested that perhaps we call around to other hotels to see if I'd been booked elsewhere. They generously took this responsibility on for me, and managed to find that I was indeed booked elsewhere. One of them then kindly walked with me outside (on a cold day) until we were able to see the other hotel, so that I knew exactly how to get there. While I didn't end up staying the night at Britannia, I certainly would try to if ever again in Esbjerg. They clearly take hospitality very seriously!

The hotel location is convenient , suitable place to stay for the business trips. The restaurant is small , it is quite busy during the breakfast. The room where I stayed was quite small as it was on mansard, the design was extraordinary but the size of room was small and also the bathroom wasn't so comfortable the the facilities were new. Probably good option for one night stay , but a bit challenging for longer stay.

Clean, large, quite and comfortable rooms. Nice interior! Serviceminded staff who spoke english. Fantastic restaurant, probably the best moules frites i've ever had! Nice bar with well made drinks, and the waitresses gave our dog some snacks which was very much appreciated.

As a regular visitor to Esbjerg, nearly always stay at the Hotel Britannia, just off the main square in the heart of the city. They even gave me a free upgrade this time! Only issue is that you now need to fill out a visitor form on arrival (that does get rather tedious), but this seems to be getting rolled out across Denmark! Good quality sleep - though the single rooms are a tad on the small side. Helpful friendly staff. Always a highlight of a trip to Denmark!

Have stayed here on many occasions now and is my got to hotel in Esbjerg. Centrally located, ample parking, comfortable rooms, great Wi-Fi. Food is excellent, staff are super friendly and polite and make you feel welcome. It’s a short walk to the harbour or shops, and only a short distance from the park area so ideal if you want to go running or just a walk (staff will give you a towel when you get back from a run). Really don’t have anything negative to say about it.

Ater 8 years, it’s the second time I stayed at Hotel Britannia due to its convenient location in the city centre, walking distance to/from the Esbjerg train station and word-of-mouth from a local friend. I have a good feeling in the overall service this time and the hotel is able to maintain the friendly service after so many years. The hotel interior (including rooms, dining and other public areas) has been nicely refurbished. The hardwood floor is also a typical Scandinavian décor. Room is well-lighted and spacious, and the absence of a bathtub shows that it is an eco-friendly hotel. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Esbjerg for business or pleasure. Somehow there were not so many varieties of the Danish croissants during the breakfast this time and I'm a little disappointed. But I do like the dinner menu (also available for self pick-up or room service at DKK50 additional) and the seafood dish is nicely prepared, so yummy that I forgot to take a picture to share.

Visited hotel for one night. Parked my car on top of hotel roof. Very easy and cheap also. Got a very nice large room which was way beyond my expectation. Good tv and wifi. Restaurant served excellent food, and also fast serving. Had overall a very nice stay. I would never look for another hotel in this city after this stay. Frontdesk people were so fantastic and i felt like home right away. Thank you Hotel Britannia.
