Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

We really enjoyed this hotel just steps away from the Kongens Have park that surrounds the Rosenborg Castle. The friendly and helpful staff members were key to our positive experience, and steered us to very good restaurants within easy walking distance. Having the breakfast

Hotel Christian IV is a great little hotel in an amazing location. The staff was very courteous at checkin and we helped ourselves to some free coffee and pastry. Rosenburg castle is pretty much right outside the door, 1/4 block away. Nyhavn is 5-10 min walk and Little Mermaid

Dear Nicolas L, Thank you for staying with us at Hotel Christian IV. We are very happy to receive your 5 bubble review. Our hotel is named after the king that had Rosenborg Castle built (among many noteworthy buildings). I think this small castle is very special with its location right in the heart of the city, in the wonderful King's Garden. We feel fortuned with this great location; I am glad you liked it too. Thank you for the compliments about our breakfast. Best free hotel breakfast ever. Wow! Our staff takes great pride in preparing the buffet - they will be thrilled to receive your praise. I am terribly sorry for the noise from the lift. We have just been in touch with the service company that makes monthly inspections - they will come by and inspect the lift tomorrow. I am sure they can fix the noise. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and giving us a chance to fix it. I am glad to read that you despite this small mishap would stay with us again. If you do - let us know in advance and we will be happy to find a room for you away from the elevator - just to be certain you get a perfect nights sleep. Sincerely, Kasper Jorgensen, General Manager

Dear dianeyfam, Thank you very much for staying with us at Hotel Christian IV. I am very glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It is really helpful for us to know you chose our hotel based on the experiences of other TA community members. Your contribution will now hopefully guide other users. We are indeed very appreciative for your willingness to share your experience. I am delighted you selected us as the base for visiting your child studying abroad. More than fifteen years ago I had my parents visit me when I studied in the US. It meant a lot to me to be able to show my parents my everyday life and surroundings while in a foreign country. I am sure your child will feel the same way. If not already, then surely when reflecting upon the experience years from today. Allow me to apologize for the March weather in Copenhagen. It is usually not this wet! I hope you still managed to find some fun activities while here. I am sure you had a good guide! Should you ever get another chance to visit our lovely city I hope you will think of us again. Best regards, Kasper Jorgensen, General Manager

This is a cosy hotel in a good location. Breakfast can get a little repetitive, but is otherwise adequate. Rooms are basic and rather plain, but overall a good value for the money in an expensive city like Copenhagen. Parking is available in a nearby building at a somewhat

Dear tomis, Thank you very much for staying with us at Hotel Christian IV. I am delighted you found us a cosy hotel in a good location and with overall good value for money. I agree with your points about bringing a car. Parking is expensive in Copenhagen, even at the discounted rate, we have managed to negotiate with the nearest parking garage. Since you were here they have introduced a new ticketless system that makes parking in their facility a little easier. Still, our receptionists will gladly explain the process. But unless you need a car while here it is a better option to leave it behind. Davids collection is as you write, is a true hidden gem. It is a really impressive private collection and I think the building is just beautiful. The museum was tastefully renovated inside-out a few years back as you most likely noticed. The first time I visited, I was especially impressed by the lighting. I hope you make it back to Copenhagen soon; we would love the chance to welcome you again. Best wishes, Kasper Jorgensen, General Manager

Dear Warren C, Thank you very much for staying with us and for taking the time to share your experience with the Tripadvisor community. I am delighted you found us a great little cosy hotel and enjoyed our continental breakfast as well as our location. Location is important when in a new city and with much to see - I know that from traveling myself. We are blessed in the sense that so many great sights surround our hotel. I hope you managed to experience many of the must-dos places as well as find some of the hidden gems. I am very pleased to know our receptionist made you feel right at home upon arrival. Silas, who checked you in, has great knowledge of history and our city; all topped with a good sense of humor. It sounds like he used these in giving you a warm welcome. I am sorry you about the issues you experienced in the bathroom. There is a small vent/xpelair in the bathroom. However, it works on a timer rather than a hygrostat. I will check if our settings need modifications to prevent the excess steam you experienced. I hope we get the chance to welcome you back. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if we can assist you in planning a new visit to Copenhagen anytime. Best regards, Kasper Jorgensen, General Manager

There is no such tea/coffee utensils in the room but the lobby dining room has most of what you might want (including cookies) most hours of the day or night.

Does this hotel provide shampoo/conditioner/lotion/soap?
Should have read the other posts. Now I remember the dispenser in the shower.

From the cruise port, your best bet is taxi. I suspect you can prebook this from the ship. To the airport, I agree with the other answers - metro. But it's quite a walk from the hotel - around 10-15 minutes if you know the way, although a pleasant enough walk.
