Zleep Hotel Prindsen Roskilde is a classic hotel, located in central Roskilde. The building is more than 300 years old and has always been an integral part of the local environment. The hotel's rooms and banqueting halls have facilitated large events as well as a simple breathing space for business travelers and tourists alike. The hotel's central location in Roskilde makes it a popular choice if you want to experience the many cultural attractions in Roskilde, or if you just need to get home easily after a night out. The hotel is placed in walking distance to, among other things, Roskilde Cathedral, the Viking Ship Museum and the City Park. The lounge area at the hotel was renovated in 2016 and ensures a cozy atmosphere in which the historic feel of the building is still going strong. The room types vary a bit on the four room wings as they have all been built in different decades, but all rooms offer a comfortable bed, a private bathroom with showers of high quality, a TV and free WiFi.

The choices of hotels in Roskilde are limited and this one met our needs for one night, being close to the cathedral and a 15 minute walk to the Viking Museum. It is located on the main pedestrian street of Roskilde, with many opportunities for food and shopping. The room was mediocre and the hotel seemed short-staffed. The front desk staff were handling all kinds of things, and we admired their fortitude and ability to multi-task. One caution to visitors is avoiding a parking ticket. Even while parked in the hotel lot, you must immediately sign-in to a website to register your license or you will be given a parking ticket. We mistakenly wrote down the license on the rental car key, which was one letter off from the actual license, and they ticketed us within the hour, so be vigilant and double check. Communicating with the parking authorities is nearly impossible and tickets also lead to additional charges for most rental car brands.

The double bed provided in the room is just way too small! Me and my wife are not large persons but we slept terribly. At one point when I happened to stay in line to the reception some guy in front of me complained about the size of the beds and I overheard the lady working there telling him that the beds really were queen sizes. I did not bring a measuring tape so I cannot with measurements say how small or large the beds really were, all I can say is that these "double" beds felt like the smallest I have slept on when staying at hotels.

Another complaint I have is the breakfast experience. Breakfast was a warzone. Just absolute chaos. I understand that there were a lot of guests staying at the time but that is no excuse for how it was set up. First of all the breakfast area is just way too small for the amount of guests that it was trying to serve. The way it is set up makes it impossible for guest go about in an orderly fashion. There is just no way to start at one point and proceed forward to the end in one go. Needing to double back makes everyone bump into each other. And because of its small size the impromptu queues that are formed everywhere get in the way of everyone else trying to go forwards and backwards. It's almost like a go-cart zone but with juice-drinks, cereal and trays everywhere.

I am also sorry to say that the front-desk works really slow. I do not know if it was because they were understaffed or new but the waiting times were really long. Not really the employees fault in that case but it does not change the fact that waiting times were really bad.

At least it is close to Legoland. Only 5 minutes away with the car. The hotel was also reasonably clean.

Do not even think about staying here! Stayed one night on a business travel, arrived at 11pm and payed 1500 dkr for 1 person, breakfast NOT included. On arrival reception guy seemed like he couldn’t care less. Was given a key and after arriving at the room, there was no light. Back to reception who told me to turn on the main switch (already tried that three times!!)
He finally escorted me to my room with an attitude of “how hard can it be to turn on the light”!!! Arriving at the room he then had to pull out all the beds to get the lamps connected so that he could turn on the light.
Once the lights were on the room showed all its glory by not being cleaned, carpet was full of something I hope was potato crisps🙈 the bin in the bathroom was full of crap and I just decided to go to bed and just try to sleep it through. NEVER have I experienced a service and a room that bad!!

I have been staying in Hotel Prindsen for over decade and was devestated when it closed a few years ago.
Zleep have now taken it over and given some of the rooms a refurb.
I particularly like the central location in Roskilde, the free parking and basic, but clean and functional rooms.

Other reviewers on other sites have bemoaned the check in process, which I found quick and easy (less than 5 minutes). The screen to book your car registration for parkin is adjacent to this and again this was quick and easy (less than 2 minutes).

The staff are helpful and polite and the rooms practical and clean.

Check in was laborious self service. No sign of staff. Badly signed to get to a small cell on the second floor. The shower room was scarcely big enough for shower, toilet and basin. Breakfast was soggy croissant, processed cheese and cheap jams. Disgusting coffee too.
A beautiful building well located and ruined by an uncaring hotel group.
Ludicrously expensive too.

This hotel is certainly spartan in it’s presentation and the room is ideal for the “no frills” crowd, but is clean and comfortable. The employees are professional and perform their duties with efficiency.
The main strength of this hotel is that is the only one truly and really centrally located in the small city of Roskilde. It’s right near to the main attractions, like the cathedral, located in the liveliest (by Danish standards) main street and at a comfortable walking distance from the Viking Ships museum.

Soft, uncomfortable beds resulting in very poor sleep and a sore back. (Most hotels have far firmer mattresses). Also very variable service - ranging from good to very poor.
Shame, because the location is excellent, breakfast is reasonable and there is good parking. However, as things stand, we definitely couldn’t recommend this hotel

a very low quality hotel with an incredible low value for money. I paid 100 eur more than in a similar hotel in town and it has been probably my worst experience in 20 years. Awful and unacceptable, dishonest, they should shut down and be ashamed.

Not a bad place. It is a bit of a maze and the heating is so so (either too hot or too cold). Once a luxery hotel now a budget one. You still get a little feel for what it ones was by the style of the rooms. But those days are gone, you now get what you pay for.

Hello Dimitris, You are more than welcome to decide upon arrival (or the day after when breakfast is served so that you can see what we have on the buffet). The buffet consists of products such as breads, egg, cold cuts, marmelade, butter, dessert cakes, yoghurt, coffee, juice. Most of it is organic. You can read more about it on our website.
