Pottles Barn is situated in the pretty Norfolk village of Surlingham, just seven miles outside the city of Norwich and a short drive from the coast. Nestling in the valley of the River Yare, Surlingham forms part of the South Norfolk Broads, boasting two nature reserves to its name. A haven for wildlife, it's also a popular must-visit destination for walkers, cyclists, holidaymakers and sailing enthusiasts. With two riverside pubs within easy reach, serving local ales and home-cooked food in pleasing surroundings, Pottles Barn is the perfect retreat for those looking to make the most of both the city life and the countryside. Set in its own half-acre of well-kept grounds, with views stretching across the fields to the river beyond, relax and unwind in rural Norfolk to leave feeling totally refreshed. We spent a week in the annexe of this delightful property and it is ideal for a peaceful and relaxing break, we enjoyed it immensely. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable and the owners, who live in the adjoining house are friendly, helpful and welcoming. There is a lovely little terrace with table and chairs just outside the patio doors and we enjoyed being able to sit outdoors in the evening watching the swallows and swifts wheeling overhead. It is a particularly good spot for bird watchers and walkers as there are two nature reserves within easy reach. There are also two excellent pubs within walking distance, both beside the River Yare, and the park and ride for Norwich is only a short drive away.

We stayed in the annexe, a lovely and excellently appointed self catering 'cottage' that sleeps four and overlooks the beautiful garden. The owners were lovely and with beds made up, towels and fresh eggs, homemade bread etc it made our visit extra special. It was warm and cosy with lots of room. Pub that serves food is a 5 minute walk and sits on the side of the river and there are lovely walks alongside the river and through the village. It is a very peaceful location and excellent for a complete chill out.

We booked a weekend away to relax and certainly did in this property. On arrival we were greeted by our hosts who were very friendly and informative and were shown into the property. A lot of thought had been put into the décor and it was beautifuly furnished. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and a much appreciated welcome pack left including items that led to a wonderful breakfast the next morning. A lovely touch. I especially liked the walk in wardrobe and fabulous walk in shower (My partner is 6ft 3" and he had plenty of room) A local pub The Ferry was a 10 minute walk offering lovely riverside views and serving home favourites - all at a good price, a very extensive menu with a good choice of beers, lagers, cider. I can't recommend this accommodation enough. Our weekend began on 23rd Sept-25th Sept - the weather was kind to us. Had it been hotter we had a lovely outside table and chairs that were in front of the patio doors that we could have sat in and looked over the lovely views of the well kept garden. We went onto the Norfolk Broads on the Saturday morning and hired a boat which was good fun and easily reached from our property. About a 20/30 minute drive away. Thank you for making this such a lovely place to stay. Would certainly go back
