Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reasonably priced. Clean. Good breakfast. Only 10 minutes walk into the centre of Kalmar. Handy for the bridge over to Oland and has free parking. Great budget option for high season. Our room was quite small with two single beds and a bit airless, and had a shared bathroom.

My family stayed here for just one night. We are two adults and two adult children. We had a family room that was fantastic. It was two spacious rooms. The outer room had two twin beds and two Murphy style bunk beds. The main room had two twin beds pushed together and a small table and four chairs like a little dining set. The bathroom was the largest and fanciest of all the hotels we stayed at on our tour of Sweden. It was so wonderful for the four of us to have space from each other without the cost of two rooms. The breakfast was wonderful. It had a wide variety of cereals, breads, yogurts, meats, cheeses, and drinks. Parking is limited so be sure to get there early. We arrived right at 3 pm and there were 2 cars in the lot. The next door parking lot was free when we came but it looked like its normally a paid lot. It’s a 20 minute walk to town and another 10 to the castle. It’s a flat easy walk or a short bike ride. The hotel rents bikes.

This place is a combo hostel and hotel...or by American standards, more like a "Motel." Regardless, it fit the bill...if you go with the standard room with double beds. Everything was very comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was tiny and basic, but it still did the trick. My room rate included breakfast, which was a real disappointment. Everything seemed like they just opened the packaging and put it out. Nothing appeared to be actually cooked there. The options were less than satisfying and could use some help. One HUGE plus...and the reason I opted for this property was the availability to laundry facilities. Finding places to wash clothes when traveling in Sweden is REALLY tricky since most Swedes have their own machines. So the fact that this hotel offered it was. a big plus. I would stay here again, get the same large room, but skip the breakfast.

We enjoyed the night in the Svanen. Nice people, perfect large room, good breakfast. It is not the cheapest but it is great and we recommend it and would come again. The only disadvantage is that pets are not allowed.

We stayed there one night and took hotel room, not hostel one. They have different kind of room, depends on your budget. Our room was quite big and comfortable (bed and pillows as well!). Clean and quiet, we liked it! Price was also ok, as Kalmar overall has not cheap prices in high season. Breakfast was ok. I could stay there again!

I stayed there alone before two times aswell but there was a bathroom in the room this time I was there for a conference but my family came with me too so i can say as a family i would prefer a different hotel because it is a hostel for single travelers , or group friends. Toilet and bathroom were shared so it made it little bit difficult specially at nights. The hostel is clean and breakfast was nice and has a beautiful view next to the lake. It s 10 minutes walk to the center . You can walk while watching swans.

This hostel costs more than the one I stayed at in Jönköping, but the breakfast is good (and extra) and the room is very comfortable. Their is a friendly atmosphere because of the layout at the entrance. There are almost always people in the reception area.

Mum, dad and grownup son stayed two nights in a family room for a family occation. Hotel situated in nice surroundings a little bit outside central Kalmar. Free parking at hotel grounds or on the streets around. Decent sized room with a sofabed as the third one. Good luck that mum is short as the 2.00 son would have trouble in the sofa! Very clean all over. Decent breakfast for the hotel class, but no hot stuff like bacon and eggs. All over a good stay, and will return as the hotels in central Kalmar is a bit overpriced in my opinion, at least in the summer season!

We stayed one night and it was great. The receptionist friendly and professional. The room simple but clean and efficient. Especially we liked the kitchen for guests with several fridges and all equipment for simple cooking! Thumbs up 👍! Breakfast in the winter garden next to the water was just perfect: all you need!
